  1. How can I find the ship files from the scenarios? There are some neat craft in there (the Vules Jerne Kerman comes to mind, as does the hopper in that Exploring Gilly scenario). I tried one online extractor and it didn't work well at all. Tips?
  2. My drills are mounted very similar to yours. Appears to be no problem with yellow base touching surface. And I did try the pre-landing deployment but the drill tips caused bounce back. I’ll post a screenshot shortly. Thanks for your response, I appreciate it!
  3. So I’m working with a combined mining/refining vessel (Digger 7, I call it) to drill and process into fuel. It’s worked well on Minmus and the Joolian moons. But on Gilly, even once I’ve landed and stabilized (damned tiny gravity), I push my craft off the surface every time I deploy my two Drillomatics and have to land all over again. To make matters even trickier: - After such a landing and bounce back, I can generally leave my drills deployed and they ease into the surface once I land again. BUT... - If I deploy my drills prior to my initial landing attempt, the surface treats the drill tips as hard objects and the craft lands on them, toppling and/or bouncing back up. Anyone else observe this? Solutions? I’ve read references to “collision mesh” elsewhere but don’t really know anything about it.
  4. Love using the D-T Vista and tearing across the system. But I don't see many tips available on how to get the most out of this engine. Specifically, I find the Tri Alpha Colliding Beam Fusion Reactor to be my best general choice for powering this engine (without beamed power, of course). But there are even fewer tips on using this reactor (I don't see it listed in the KSPI wiki, for instance). One particular question - what's the best way to add fuel/propellent to a D-T Vista ship in order to increase the ship's operational range? Adding D-T and Liquid Fuel tanks actually doesn't seem to help (and I think this may be due to the fusion reactor chugging from the Vista's fuel stocks) Also, is it possible to refuel a Vista's internal supply of D-T and LF? For what it's worth, I want to use Vista as my main workhorse for system-wide exploration and exploitation (sandbox, just 'cuz).
  5. Sdrevik, wondering if you ever figured this out. I'm having much the same issue and wondering how to keep my D-T's chugging.
  6. Don't recall the exact stats.... I'll do a test run this evening with that set-up again and let you know. And yeh, big DUH on the fuel tanks' mass, i figured that out not long after I asked.
  7. This was pretty helpful in general but wow, I don't know how you get these altitude marks with this DeltaV in this version of the game. Was the game a bit nerfed when this was written? I find I need much more fuel per stage to hit these marks (though, of course, there are a hundred things I might be doing wrong...) Specific question: you say "2-ton LFO tank" and "4-ton LFO tank"... which tanks are you using, specifically? I find none of the stock tanks are exactly 2- or 4-ton carriers.
  8. So I'm starting to get the swing of things in KSP:IE (the beginners' tech guide helped a lot here, folks). But when I started adding generators to my rocket plans, I found that selecting the generator in game will crash the game. Anyone else having this issue? I can't wait to work all these kinks out... the IE stuff really adds a lot to KSP, and it was already a great game. Now I wanna get flying around Kerbol with a Daedalus!
  9. I'm having real trouble keeping the Tokamak Fusion Engine thrusting. I can keep it lit with lithium prop, but not enough for plasma. I have a ton of capacitors on this particular vehicle and have tried molten salt and other thermal generators for power source. What am I missing, besides years of nuclear physics?
