  1. Agreed, very similar. However, this also applies no limit on altitude which makes it partially a SSTO race.
  2. You Only Go Around Once Fastest Lap of Kerbin Wins! Rules: Stock Parts Normal Difficulty No Gameplay Mods No Cheating One complete, equatorial lap of Kerbin Runway/Rolling Takeoff Landing on KSC Runway (or close to it. The craft may slide off the runway so long as it touches it once) Must have at least 1 Kerbal. Pilot Must Survive! Craft does not. Time based on mission time. Clock stops when craft stops. No limits to stages, fuels, altitude, mass, cost; but these will be noted. Submission: Video is preferred; Imgur album is acceptable. Show SPH with vehicle mass, cost, etc. Show resources tab during flight. Show Flight Results (F3). Albums must show key moments. Standings: 1.) Eidahill - 24:52 - Crunchy Landing - 3,587m/s - 81,591m - 10 Stages - 1,481.48t - 577,118 2.) HarrySeaward - 40:56 - Intact Landing - 2,092m/s - 76,074m - SSTO - 9.9t - 24,430 3.) 4.)
  3. Oh yeah. I forgot about that whole g-force thing. Good catch. Records will now note max g-force experienced.
  4. (This is my first mission submission, so please bear with me. Also, I'm not completely positive this is an original idea. I couldn't find an identical challenge, but it is entirely possible that I saw it earlier and it was planted in my subconscious only to surfacelater seeming like an original idea. Please let me know--or don't) Ballistic Return from Minmus "You only get one shot" - Eminem Your mission is to design a theoretically reusable rig that will return a Kerbal from the surface of Minmus to the surface of Kerbin. ("theoretically" because I won't ask you to prove it.) Rules: All forces on the returning Kerbal/vessel must be imparted while still on the surface of Minmus. Returning Kerbal/vessel may be controlled (aero, chutes, etc.). Launcher may move to assist launching. Launcher must remain safe on Minmus. Provide evidence. Rankings will be based on cost of returning rig, not cost to get it there. Get your rig to Minmus however you want, no proof needed. No part mods, no gameplay mods. Maximum g-force experienced will be noted in the records. (Thanks for the tip, MaxL) Categories for rankings: Startup Cost = Least expensive overall rig (launcher plus launched) Marginal Cost = Least expensive consumables (everything that leaves Minmus or explodes. Evidence or remaining launcher must be provided. Submission: Screen shot of entire rig in VAB or SPH showing cost (Just the rig that will be on Minmus. Also, empty your fuel tanks, we're assuming unlimited fuel available on Minmus for relaunches) Screen shot of launched/exploded vessel Video of launch from Minmus, safe return, and proof of reusable vehicle safe on Minmus. An Imgur album will be accepted if that is your only option. Videos are better. Good Luck, Harry Leader Board Category 1 - Start-up Cost 1.) 2.) 3.) Category 2 - Marginal Cost 1.) 2.) 3.)
  5. I had a couple of manned missions to Minmus. I felt really bad because, without enough delta-v, I had to leave those brave Kerbals in orbit. I have had the leave-no-Kerbal-behind mantra since I started and this made me uncomfortable. Weird, I know. I can't remember about the sub-biomes around KSC. I updated the old laptop when I got home and I wiped my saves. BTW, is 1.2 available for OSX? If it is, the MacGameStore seems to be hiding it.
  6. http://imgur.com/a/x1NBZ Wow, that was tough. I had to do it on 1.1.3 because I was on a trip and only had my old Mac laptop and that's the version it had. Also, ZERO mods. No Mech Jeb, nothing. As tiresome as it was, I think it really forced me to refine my skills.
  7. Level 2. Stock. IRSU. Nothing too special. Just a rite of passage.
