Hmmm, I see some kerbals on this forum too .

one button that kills ALL time acceleration

Maybe just made active pause button feature - 0x acceleration, but game still working ? -
Am I trying to get into Munar orbit incorrectly?
karolus10 replied to jmr106's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I would like to suggest You using free return trajectory to get to the mun - it appear to be more complicated, but in fact it made entire mission much easier and smoother. # First, try go into 80km parking orbit, going anywhere higher is unnecessary . # Click on mun in map view to set is as target. # Create maneuver node on ascending/descending node (green markers) on our orbit to correct our inclination difference to zero. # Create maneuver node behind our spacecraft and add ~875 m/s in pro-grade axis (forward/back), we will use only pro-grade axis. # Slide node on orbit to find proper orbit, we need to encounter mun Head-On (unlike normal transfer chasing mun from behind) with smallest Mun periapsis as possible. # Click on purple mun Pe marker to lock it's value visible. # Made fine correction to maneuver node prograde/retrograde axis until Mun peripasis is set at 50km, You can get lower, but you risk hitting the Mun due SOI change error. # Perform injection burn. # Create and execute course correction node half way to the mun (or place where green marker crossing inclination axis on picture above) and made necessary correction (50km Mun peripasis). # After reaching Mun SOI made correction burn to change mun periapsis to 20 kilometers or you can made first braking burn 5 minutes before Mun periapsis, lowering Pe to 20km. # Perform braking burn at mun periapsis for Mun orbit insertion . -
I agree with using UTC time, many of us live in different parts of the world and know their own timezones... UTC is easy to calculate .

Largest Issue with Rocket engines In KSP are very heavy engines compared to their IRL counterparts with similar size and thrust, this made engines like 48-7S feels OP. Mainsails had largest TWR in game (can lift 25 more than own weight), but it's quite small number compared to old Saturn I H-1 engine, with size and ISP between mainsail and skipper, 900kN of thrust and weigh of "only" 1000 kilograms (4x less than skipper), which gave him TWR around 100... From other hand after balancing engines, fuel tanks will require their dry mass and fuel density (bit less fuel units, more dry mass) rebalanced to made it feel right too.

Necro-posting in it's finest moment... As You can see, You can do (nearly) everything in KSP, even if this wasn't implemented yet .

Today is 256 day of the year, this mean that today it's (Friday 13 ?) day of Computer scientists and programmers ! Because of this I would like to send my best wishes to all developers, computer scientist and other people who dedicate their professional lives to computers . + special kudos for SQUAD and everyone who is helping to made this game happen .

Ok, here's mine:

They look nice, nuff said.

"You adults don't understand what is like" is an problem repeating with every generation, but you You need to grow up before you see the problem in wider perspective... it's a vicious cycle .

It's not available anymore. Mark one Here, for You . You can reach 100km orbit with second stage (sometimes it lack few m/s but few RCS bursts are needed ) but You will not had enough fuel in second stage to deorbit it back to Kerbin. You should easily made very close Munar fly-by (free return) after stretching first stage with 3rd tank, and it should made to Mun/Minmus orbit and back with 2 large SRB's added to stretched stack.

Enjoy Your school time when You can, later it WONT be easier (But, bigger challenge, if this make You feel better) I assure You... Now stop worrying and deal with it . I think that this hatred to school can caused by system: it's now very focused on grades and preparing for next "BIG" exam and disregarding need of encouraging students to learn and seeking knowledge on their own. I had learning disabilities (write slow) as an child and was nearly never getting best grades (but I was good when working hard enough) but it won't break my interest in learning and thirst for knowledge (my enthusiasm won't included making homeworks, lol) . Also, in my school years my largest problem wasn't school, but other (elementary/mid school) students who, mildly speaking won't respect people who are interested in subject/doing well.

What operating system do kerbals use?
karolus10 replied to Apature rocket science's topic in The Lounge
I would put my bets on Unix-like system with KDE, but I can't be serious with second one. When it comes with rocket components software You are dealing with other challenges than on "regular" computers in processing centers or workstations so VxWorks and other real time systems could be better choice. -
[Breaking News] SQUAD Streams are back!!!
karolus10 replied to CpPolar268's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That's interesting... I'm looking forward to see dev-streams back . -
Sub-assemblies are an game changer for the editor and vehicle design, but radial attachment of multiple parts need some tweaks... if someone tried to attach entire cloned stage to the radial decoupler will know what I'm talking about :-/. Also I would like to attach sub assembly (or relocate chunk of parts and stick in other place) using whatever node I like, not just one You detached from. Science and development aspect of the game is very promising though .

How low can you go?
karolus10 replied to emfolkerts's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
5000 meters is lowest altitude with possible time acceleration, so it's not really convenient to go into lower orbit . -
globe encompassing station
karolus10 replied to PsykoticCreations's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Even if this would be possible to be done in game (no game and hardware limitations), I doubt that any player would be able to carry out thousands identical missions, without destroying his personal life or dying in the process... I think it's perfectly doable to put couple thousands copies of same craft in regular intervals, by editing persistence file, but it still would be daunting task if done manually. You can't see anything above 2500 meters, but you could had neat "ring" made from craft markers. -
I can launch rocket by pushing a space-bar, I know this is awesome but I'm just modest man .
-
Nope, You can't get infinite energy, sorry. Any "Perpetuum mobile" device might work, only if they will not loss any energy in the process and You still can't drain energy from the system.

After reading this post I realized that my imagination failed me... terribly . I'm reminding you guys to stick with discussing about mars-one, thank You !

This is KSP, sometimes cool factor out-weights efficiency .

We had Mac version, come and join us Sir ^^.

Problem with reactors and RTG generators are very small energy density compared to their mass. Compact nuclear reactors could be quite scalable in matter of power output because of cooling requirement - You need radiators (similar to large solar panels, but with coolant flowing trough them) for heat dissipation, for small reactor powering surface outpost You can attach couple of small radiator panels but You don't get a lot of power. For powering larger ion engines (imagine couple 1.25m ion engines slowly pushing larger craft) You would need entire array of large radiators to use full reactor(s) potential. EDIT_1: Also reactors cooling requirement (helium/xenon as working medium) and radiators part could use with advanced "bi-modal" NTR engines (nuclear ones) as modest power plants (when in idle) with cooling system attached to spacecraft.

Orange Tank bug?
karolus10 replied to SuperWeenieHutJuniors's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Also You can use small structural panel between tank and mainsail, also it let You hide struts and fuel line (panels don't transfer fuel) between tank and the engine ! -
First, I don't like idea of sending humans into mars permanently, before suitable infrastructure has been established on mars and tested by one of early two-way missions, sending people permanently into outpost no larger than ISS is just plainly nuts. I'm not convinced to mars-one, even if it would (with some incredible luck) succeed, they had none scientific agenda (big brother on mars, meh). It mean that they had no priority to send up scientists and engineers to do actual research on surface, supervising robotic missions in real time with tight cooperation with earth or set-up and test equipment to clear the path for colonization. If You don't want to sent skilled people who actually can do something meaningful there what is the point of sending humans there in first place ? Also I don't really believe in sense of keeping colony self-sustainable (like biosphere projects) at this stage, any agricultural activity would be only for research, not really for feeding people. Consumables like hardware, food or water(for the last one NEO asteroids with ice could be pretty big deal later on) , must to be sent from earth - few cargo pods with consumables should land before first colony crew arrive or be launched in same launch window.
