    A planet that isn't moving generates no gravity, and that means you don't have to worry about escape velocity, but the problem is, nothing will keep you nailed down on planet, so you cannot land by gravity

    No, it's even worse, planets will be like useless decorations that will fly to infinite without gravity, if kerbol makes no gravity, even ion engine in a 10k tons will take you to escape trajectory from tylo, atmosphere wont exist though, and no gravity = INFINITE TWR (geeASL = 0, 0 × mass = 0)

  2. 4th dimension space program

    Infinite celestial bodies in their trajectories, seemingly one with the others, literally untouchable, timewarp is useless (reason : 4th dimension is past, present and future as a unison)

    4th dimension parts

    Only work with 4th dimension space program and makes infinite parts in it's trajectories, can touch 4th dimensional planets

    As soon as you leave the SOI, you'd just fall straight into the sun.

    yes, but if the sun makes no gravity, go interstellar post leaving atmosphere, landing on mun would be LITERALLY impossible, if it's not moving

    Thanks, and yes, anyone who is attempting the mission now and will get cut off can submit it in the new thread. Thank you for giving me the honor of running this challenge.

    Well, hope 1.0.5 attempts are still capable to enter the leaderboards as so as 1.0 and beyond, i said this because i doubt my pc can handle ksp 1.3.0 which i got from a friend (that also plays ksp) and well, the mission seems to be going to be so hard (Difficulty : SUPREME/SUP3R) since many landings and advanced planning (0.1 TWR made it Difficulty : ULTRA)

    @PhoenixRise86 Congratulations, you have completed the Jool 5 Challenge on Level 1!  I like your Falcon Heavy-style launch and your mission was above and beyond the minimum for level 1 with 3 crew and science.  It's rare to see a Jool 5 without nuclear engines but yours was efficiently done with just Terriers for your transfer stage.

    @foobar Congratulations, you have completed the Jool 5 Challenge on Level 1!  And you are now the low-mass and low-cost record holder for 1.2-1.3!  You had a great low-mass entry with an efficient spaceplane.  Controlling that Tylo lander must have been a great feat of piloting!  How did you get off the ground with the tipped-over lander, without a reaction wheel?

    @McQuacker Looks like a great mission, but can you put your pictures in order?  It's hard to follow such a large album out of order!

    Thanks for your patience, everyone.  As you can probably tell I've been getting slower to reply over the past couple of months.  Since I started a new job and moved to live on my own, I have much less time for KSP and I think that it would be best for someone with more time to take over the Jool 5 Challenge.  I'm officially closing for new entries on the release day of the Making History expansion (March 13).  With all of the new features I think the Jool 5 will need some significant updates, and could even have a mission from the mission builder!  Thanks everyone for the continued support and ongoing entries to the challenge.  You all have pushed the boundaries and delivered with creativity and quality.

    If you are interested in taking over or contributing in the future, please let me know.

    Well, about the thick alphabets, had to act fast

    I was able to capture into a parking orbit at Jool with a 6 dV nudge upon entry to the system, making a braking slingshot around Tylo, followed by a Vall braking slingshot for <20 dV. The next Tylo encounter allowed capture for <1000 dV.

    My Tylo lander had about 8000 dV, plus the small return pod. The separate Laythe lander had about 4000 dV and aerobraked/parachutes all the way down.

    The pod that handled Vall/Bop/Pol had 2000+ (tiny service bay pod) and refueled from the orbital carrier.

    Maneuvering between the inner moons is fairly cheap as long as you park in high orbits and/or stage away the landers. Best wishes.

    Kerbiting = 4000 m/s

    Joolar transfer = 2000 m/s

    Capture to tylo = 1000 m/s

    D'Lander (tylo to return stage) = 22000m/s

    Total = 29000 m/s

    It will be dockless which made me work really hard, i made a new one with 30050 m/s delta-v exactly, that should be enough

    Thnx mate

  7. planning Jool-5 mission and trying to avoid docking for reasons, turns out, delta-v of the craft is inadequate by around 3500 m/s (it took 32000 m/s delta-v), my jool-5 rocket is my largest existing vehicle with currently 984 parts and 28500 m/s delta-v, finished eve docklessly without ion or Nerva with 735 parts rocket (now modified into 766 or more parts), longest mission was Eeloo-Dres mission in a single launch, that took 34-36 kerbal years but with more than 500 m/s of margin safety (no Nerva, dockeing and ion), landed on every land-able body, after that, making my own planet and land on them myself

  8. Update, now mun and minmus are trivial for me, i teach whoever needs help, maybe level-5, only subscribed matt lowne and the gamer alchemist, probably stratz too, haven't subscribed scott because i'm sick of listening him, i got bad auditory system, mun and minmus are as easy as picking up a nose, can be don lazily, duna and ike are no different with that, planning dockless jool 5, this is already 1 year since i start now

    I'm working on my first Jool 5 currently. It's in career mode, single-launch Falcon Heavy-style with center booster recovery, no ISRU, no nuclear or ion engines, no more than 1 asparagus-booster pair per stage, level 2/3/Jeb will depend on how well my lander SAS works. I'll send some screenshots later tonight when I'm back at my pc.

    Good luck, hope its interesting

  10. Something between level 4-5 in my 6th month playing, cant stop thinking bout how to overcome some planets like eve

    You should listed the lowne level:

    Capable to land on eve without rendezvous in sea level with much overkill, jool 5 no refuelling, having fun on interplanetary bases, god of SSTO spaceplanes

    And stratz level:

    Dockless jool 5, messing up with interplanetary missions
