  1. After quite a bit of tinkering today, I believe I have resolved most of my graphics issues. Finding a balance between the correct display resolution and the correct graphics settings can be a pain in the butt. But, with the adjustments I made, lowering resolution from 3200x1800 to 1920x1040, I think I am now actually getting better display/performance ratio than I was earlier. This likely moves me back on the needle of purchasing Making History next week.
  2. Unfortunately for me, this new release just killed all the enthusiasm I had for Making History coming out next week. I was at 100% definitely buying on day of release and now I am 100% definitely not buying until a later date (if at all). Odd time to release a small point release....right before a major release. I really even have not spent too much time with 1.4, but in the limited testing I tried, I have found the following: Parts cut off in parts list. Parts not staying in fairing upon launch. For someone with a non-gaming system, the graphics changes are a killer. For me, with a 100 part rocket, I see lag on take off until about 300m. That is normal even on 1.3 versions. But now, even with all graphics settings down, seems they have increased graphics depth of engines, to where the game lags enough that it is unplayable for me unless zoomed in to where you can not see any of the engine flames, or zoomed out to where my rockets are about a half inch in size on my display. Maybe it's just me, but I am seeing some really bad physics. Very simple rockets seem to be very unstable. Made a simple rocket today to test something. Main stage with 4 boosters on radial decouplers, then a 2nd small engine stage and crew cabin. Couldn't even get the thing to orbit, tipping over. A rocket I have used many times in previous versions is now suddenly unstable? Text sizing is all wonky. I run at 3200x1800 display and have to adjust UI scaling. UI scaling is at max (was at 1.3.x as well), but now multiple items are showing up with small, unreadable text. Really, really disappointed.
  3. As someone that has had the original Xbox console game since it was released, the PC version since November 2017 (couldn't wait for the new console build), and the new Xbox Enhanced Edition.....I still have accomplished very little in the game. When I got the PC version in November, that was the first time I ever sent probes to the Mun or Minmus, or landed a Kerbonaut on the Mun. Trying to push myself to do a whole heck of a lot more in the game now. Today, I started a new sandbox game on the PC. I put up 3 satellites in geosync orbit, and another 3 about 25 million meters out, between the Mun and Minmus. Next up is to start sending up some scanning satellites, manned rover missions to Mun and Minmus, and then finally visit another planet. I also spent hours (less than 5 minutes) slaving over a very complex (simple) detailed (kindergarten age) portrait in Paint, as I was tired of staring at the default image.
  4. I have also found that the J-404 Panther engine also makes a similar crackling sound, but only when in Afterburner mode. Normal engine mode does not produce the sound. The J-X4 Turbo Ramjet engine is also producing a similar crackling noise for me.
  5. Restarted the Xbox several hours later and tried again, and it works fine. Definitely some type of load condition though where the planet and background does not load under certain conditions.
  6. I decided today that I wanted to play a Sandbox mode game (first time ever on EE) to try out some things I haven't gotten to yet on my career game. I clicked on sandbox, edited game name, changed flag, hit A to start.....AND I had no Kerbin. All I see is outter space. Gene Kerman gives his usual tutorial, I can go into individual buildings, but if I try to launch a pre-made ship, for example, I am taken to a launch pad in the middle of space. Colors missing, no actual planet, etc etc. Deleted, restart new sandbox. Same issue. Appears Sandbox was completely broken for me. I then tried to load up my existing Career save, and it now behaves the exact same way. It had been 5-7 days since I last played, but now, anytime I try an old save or a new game, Kerbin is not loading and the game is unplayable.
  7. Anyone experience loss of craft control in the Xbox One Enhanced Edition? I have launched a pretty simple rocket (Twin-Boar engine, fuel tank, decoupler, Skipper engine, fuel tank, decoupler, MK1 control pod, heat shield, parachutes) into orbit around Kerbin. While checking out the Kerbal cockpit view, reviewing controls via the Manual app, and browsing through Kerbin planet info, contract info, etc, I have now lost control of my rocket orbiting Kerbin. Some things I have tried: I am not time warped. I am currently in 1x time mode, and have warped forward and put back to 1x mode.....no change in control ability. I have not run out of electric power. More than 40 of the default 50 electric charge remains. I have fuel remaining for my engines. Checked engines to ensure somehow engine was not shutdown. I have tried clicking on the MK1 Command module, and choosing Control From Here to make sure I didn't accidentally select a part or set control somewhere else.....no change in control ability. I have gone into the Settings menu and switched from Cursor to Radial, saved.....no change. Set back to Cursor.....no change. I have ensured I have pushed in Left Stick to make the cursor go away while attempting to control the craft. My vessel has Jebediah at the helm, so it is not a probe. The vessel is also close enough to Kerbin that it would not be out of range of communications. I cannot press B to turn SAS on/off, however, if I go to the NavBall, I can manually click SAS on/off with the cursor. The D-pad does not respond to any controls to either throttle up or down individually, or go to 100% using LB plus d-pad up. The needle for the throttle control never moves. If I press A to attempt to invoke the next stage, a decoupler, nothing happens. As a user of the previous Xbox One version of the game, as well as a user of the PC version of the game for the last several months, I've never run into a situation like this before and tried everything I could think of that would possibly prevent control of the craft. I'm stumped. I didn't want to revert my game. A few minutes after posting, I decided to take a chance going back to Space Center, then go to Tracking Station to get back to my vessel. I now have control of the vessel. Still very odd, that some sequence of menus caused a lockup of controlling the rocket.
  8. Anyone else test use a Twin Boar engine and get a strange crackling/clicking sound when the engine is powered up? The noise I hear is following a specific repeated pattern. If I put the throttle to zero the noise goes away, if I slowly throttle up or down, the pitch of the crackling changes along with throttle up/down. It sounds like this was maybe supposed to be part of the engine noise, but the crackling I'm hearing just doesn't seem to really fit. I have never noticed this noise with Twin Boar on previous KSP Xbox version, nor have I heard it with the PC version.
  9. Wow, can't believe I have never seen this before in the 18 months I've played the old console version, or the past few months on the PC version. Thank you for the information.
  10. Anyone seeing the Science Tree not being properly enforced in Career mode for EE Xbox One? I started a career giving myself 3500 science points to start, so I could research some items right off the start. What I am seeing is that Science items that have two pre-requisites are not being enforced. Two examples here: General Construction requires Stability, General Rocketry as prerequisites, and then 45 Science to research and unlock. I have plenty of Science points, I have only unlocked General Rocketry. I have not unlocked Stability, and yet, if I go to General Construction, I have the ability to research it for 45 Science without the prerequisite. Fuel Systems can be researched for 90 Science, and requires General Construction and Advanced Rocketry. I have already researched Advanced Rocketry, but I have not researched General Construction. I was able to research Fuel Systems for 90 Science without first researching the General Construction prerequisite. I also went into the VAB, and confirmed that even without General Construction prerequisite, I was able to add the parts from Fuel systems to my rockets. Anyone else seeing this?
  11. Anyone seeing issues with the screen not scaling properly with Enhanced Edition for Xbox One? Just downloaded the game (had previous version installed). Started a new career, and the entire outside edge of the screen is cut off: In the main view, looking at the KSC, the top menu bar is essentially cut in half. You can only see half of the funds, reputation, and science totals. The bottom right corner icons, like the help, etc, are also cut in half. In the VAB, you can only see half of the name/flag info boxes, and you can only see the very far right edge of each component.....enough to see that it is highlighted, but you can't actually see the icon pictures for each component, unless you switch to advanced view (and then the advanced items are cut off the same way). It appear that in every screen, the view is zoomed in just a bit too much or scaled improperly, and all info bars at the top, bottom, and sides are chopped. There are no graphical options in Settings to adjust scaling on Xbox One, as their used to be with the older version. I have tried restarting the Xbox One after download/install, and not seeing a difference. Anyone else seeing this?
  12. Since my first post above, I have a few more accomplishments to cross off the list: Landed two unmanned probes on Mun. Launched two satellites in orbit of Kerbin. Launched one satellite in orbit of the Mun. Landed a manned mission to the Mun, planted flag, and successfully returned to Kerbin. Been working on that last one for the past week or more. Took me quite awhile to get the stages setup correctly and have enough fuel to get back to Kerbin. The last 2 days, I'd get to orbit, get myself in orbit of the Mun, get my craft landed, gather all my science data, then either not have enough fuel to even escape Mun gravitational pull, or hit escape velocity, but only get my periapsis around Kerbin down to about 125km before running out of fuel. Finally pulled it off today. I also learned a nice trick when landing on the Mun. Several times, I came in at an improper angle, and did not land completely on the landing struts. My rocket fell over. Luckily, I was able to open the Service Bay. Opening the service bay with such low gravity was able to pop my craft up several meters in the air, enough for me to straighten out at a much lower speed and put the craft back on the landing struts. Next items to tackle for me: Putting manned mobile processing labs in orbit around Kerbin and the Mun. Launching unmanned probes to Minmus. Manned mission to Minmus. Scanning satellites around Mun and Minmus.
  13. Have lurked here for awhile, but time to finally post and share one of my recent success stories....... I first played the KSP demo on PC a few years ago, but didn't have a powerful enough (to my liking) laptop to buy the game. When it was released on Xbox, I bought the game. Played it for a month or two, and never really got that far in Career mode. I wouldn't say it was as buggy to me as most people said, but, I never did much but complete some simple contracts and orbit Kerbin. Never made it any farther. Around September, I decided to start playing it again. I got a little bit further, and was starting to see some of the issues described about the Console build. I saw that a new Console version was coming out in January, but, I was really back into the game and couldn't wait. I bought the current KSP for PC in early November. Oh the joy....the science tree was a little better arranged to make career progression a bit easier in terms of science gathering. I made it to the Mun and Minmus, with fly-bys and orbits of both moons. I even launched a Mobile Science Lab......and that's where the problems started. So, a few weeks ago, I launched a Science Lab in orbit of Kerbin. Mobile Processing Lab, Pilot, and 2 Scientist. Figured this would help speed up my science gathering. At some point after launch and gathering data, I forwarded the game to a point where I could not revert back to pre-launch of the lab, and I realized.....I had not put an antenna on the final version, so all that science was sitting there, unattainable. I also didn't have a method to bring the Kerbals home. I had an engine with enough fuel to get them out of orbit, but I had no heat shields and no parachutes. A rescue mission would need to be launched. Here's the thing: I had never done an orbital rendezvous before, and never docked. I tried a few times on my own....fail. EPIC FAIL. I scoured the forum for help. Found a few pointers. FAIL. Found this great guide: Illustrated Tutorial for Orbital Rendezvous. Fail, but not as bad. The tutorial really helped me get in the proper orbit and get within 500m-5km of my target. That took me a few hours of trial and error. But, every time I got close, I'd watch my lab get closer, and closer, and then zoom right by me the other direction. Use the orbital markers to thrust forward.....and there it goes the other way. Try and try, fail and more fail. I must have spent 10 hours just loading, getting close, but never close enough or slow enough, and to the point my craft was going to run out of fuel before even getting a chance to dock. I tried for days. I left the game alone for days. I was [...] this close to posting here a few days ago, looking for any other pointers on redezvous with craft, because I had read the guides, and it just was not working for me. I hadn't played for a day or two, frustrated with my failures, when I decided to load up the game this morning. For whatever reason, this morning it just all clicked. I got an intersect point down to 500m and about 12m/s. The biggest thing that had caused me failures was not fully grasping how the target markers worked. I saw the whole PUSH/PULL notes in the link for Orbital Rendezvous but, until you really have tried it or done it properly a few times, it was hard for me to grasp just how that worked. But, once I did the correct burn and had the normal target and the prograde marker lined up properly, it then hit me how to do the push or pull in each direction. I got my rescue craft to about 15m away from my lab. Still took me a good hour or two of loading and unloading to dock. I have no mods, and I found the normal camera view to be horrible for trying to dock, and didn't see much help from the Docking mode. After multiple attempts, I really just ended up bumping into the docking port to dock. Maybe I'll break down and get a docking mod, or maybe with some future rendezvous I will find a better camera mode to use and find the stock docking mode is actually useful. But today, I rejoice in finally bringing Valentina, Bob, and Milsey home from orbit. I am less than 50 science away from getting the scanning technologies, which should help me unlock more science and prepare for Mun and Minmus landings. Really enjoying the game since switching from console to PC.
