Don't know if this is the right place to post this...
Bluejayek replied to Andrezado's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Possibly could be disabled during career mode, likely to stay during free/sandbox mode -
All you need for a lander is 1 fT-500 or 250 and a lander engine + legs. Works like a charm.

Bill, Bob, and Jeb are officially sadist.

How far back was your rover launched when you shot the bullet? -
Rocket won't "connect"

If you use radial decouplers you can always adjust the staging afterwards by dragging the icons on the right so they will fire at the same time as the central engine. Do you know about symetry? The button at the top left lets you select 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8fold symetry where the parts will automatically be placed symetrically, so you don\'t have to fiddle with getting the heights all the same. Good luck and happy flying! -
I demand photos! Photos of the poles!
Bluejayek replied to BeefTenderloin's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Darn, you beat me too it. I think my mission was cooler though . How far were you from minimus when you took the polar pictures? HMCSS Freedom flew by the Mun in a polar orbit, landed in the grand canyon near minimus\' north pole, and then returned to kerbin and landed at its north pole, within 3 degrees of lattitude. Didn\'t quite realize until after I touched down just how tight I was on fuel (<5kg of fuel remaining). Was a fun flight, and I managed it in one try http://imgur.com/a/NHyu5/embed Some of the early pictures got jumbled somehow. When I flew the mission, I did not fly by the north pole before going to the Mun.. that picture belongs later. I did a TMI and then flew by the mun at 6km, and then upped it to 100km, and then did a Trans-minimal injection. The pictures seem correct past that point. There are quite a few pictures in that album, but I started with over 600 from the flight, so I thought I brought it down pretty well. My craft was completely stock, the only mod I had running is the FPS pod mod; that was to give me my real altitude. I find landing in darkness or on hills a real pain without it. -

Seems to me its sort of hard to police mods, unless you give a specific list. Then again, it doesnt matter because its just for the feeling of success anyways! GL all! On the mission myself currently -
Nice landing You can always edit your persistence file to give yourself more fuel if you really want them to land, and pretend you rendezvoused with a tanker!

I will, but it was past midnight at that point and rather dissapointing My first attempt failed miserably; I tried to brute force it. Turned out I acually had about 14,000 m/s of delta V to durn in kerbol SOI which was fairly impressive, but not quite enough. Bielliptic is much better. Coming that close with one entire stage left that had ~ 3000m/s delta V.

How do I stop spinning?
Bluejayek replied to Trekkin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
ASAS/gimballed engines often dont help you. I find the kraken will mess upall your controls so that up makes you spin, left goes down, down spins AND makes you go left, and right does nothing (for example). ASAS cant cope wityh this. -
I just went for a long duration mission. Bi eliptical transfer to reverse kerbin orbit for a high speed impact. Went out to 100 billion meters and came back in, 4 hours into the mission... And I ran out of fuel on the home stretch. Annoyed me enough that I went and edited my persistence file to refill my fuel tank. And after doing all that, I had the reentry aproach lined up and accidentally time warped into the planet. It was not meant to be.

Given this statement, something you might not know. If you hit \'x\' it instantly cuts off all liquid fuel engines. Cheers!

431 with 13 SRBS. Just barely stopped. -

That is weird, The wings seem to speed it up; with just the 5 engines (which should be faster, barring stability issues) I can\'t get anywhere near as fast. I got the disintegration worthy one to 435, but technically violating the challenge as the wings decided of their own accord to take off and fly away without the rest of the craft. Main craft coasted toa safe stop. Nice ship -

Can you post that craft file? I can\'t seem tio get anywhere near the speed. -

Very similar yup! I recomend you remove your nosecap. The way drtag is simulated at the moment, its just deadweight. -

For completeness, 7 engines (Gold league) 266m/s And 2 engines (Bronze league) 248m/s. And a close thing it was, the left side of my car lifted just after burn out and I had to force it down, that could have been bad for Tomdrin, Sheldrin, and Rodfrey. I now own the leader board. Look upon my works ye mighty, and despair! And dead, with your ~200m/s entry for 1 engine, how on earth did you keep it on the ground? If I added any wings, no matter how I arranged them, frontwards, backwords, tilted or not, the car just took off! -

Hah! Broke the silver record! 5 engines, 272m/s -
Kerbin Landspeed Competition
Bluejayek replied to Dead3yez's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
My issue is rediculously obvious. When I do restart flight, my highest speed will always be something like 3000m/s, clearly incorrect. 266m/s 5 engines -

Not terrible, but you can do better! Just jam more RCS on there! I am claiming champions position for RCS with a speed of 301m/s. Immediatly after this screenshot it hit a bump and became airborne for half a second or so, but touched down safely. I hope this still qualifies. Screenshot after of the successful coast down to 12.9m/s. By the way, great challenge, you are stealing all my sleep. -

240.6m/s 1 engine. Didn\'t let it coast to a complete stop (<20m/s); I turned it around and went for a second record attempt on the way home. Got it up to 249 but then it hit a bump. -

Claiming the champions position for one engine at 222m/s (The screenshot of max velocity didn\'t quite hit it) I even got them home safe and sound. Also, as one of those DOHH! moments, I realized I can just flip the capsule around to point the craft off the opposite end of the runway, I don\'t need engines to do it manually. -

Bluejayek replied to Dead3yez's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I tend to do restart flights, and as previously mentioned that fracks the flight report screen up so I can\'t use that for a reliable speed indicator. Spamming F1 near top speed seems best, especially since it asymptotes very slowly up there anyways.
