I\'m intending to build a cathedral on the moon, but I am a bit daunted by how to get it there. More to come

Updating 0.15 to 0.16
Bluejayek replied to BlackMagic's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It worked for me, eventually. The server was running very slow for a time due to the traffic, it is cleared now. I also read that harvestor has recently updated the download link so it should work. Welcome to the forums! Happy flying! Arrrr! Resident Capt\'n Skunky Impersonator. -
How do I start a new game?
Bluejayek replied to Bounty's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I don\'t know about the mod, but to get rid of the debris all you need to do is delete your persistence file. That would be in KSP > KSP > KSP_win > saves > default > persistent Welcome to the forums Happy flying! Arrrr! Resident Capt\'n Skunky Impersonator. -
Somewhere in between one hard burn and a easy ciontrolled descent is best.. A single hard burn IS most efficient, but you really have to calculate it beforehand, otherwise you will probably undershoot. In 0.15 I had gotten to the point where I could just about do it with my standard lander because I had landed so many times I *Knew* my acceleratiion, but I don\'t recomend it.

Heck no, there\'s enough danger from other houses that are trying to fly in! I definitely knocked out a few houses trying to land them in and had to abort the flights.

I am sure we have all noticed that while there is a high tech space center on kerbin, there are no cities. Where do the poor kerbals live? It is time we took matters into our own hands! Give all of our brave, suicidal, kerbonauts homes! Build a city for them to live in! Here is my own meagre settlement.

Crash Two Kerbals Into Each Other
Bluejayek replied to cardgame's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
As per another thread, if you jump a kerbal directly into the exhaust stream of an engine, they will not be burnt up and insteda be ejected very very fast. Making a giant cannon with one of the giant stock engines mounted at ~45 degrees you can shoot a kerbal about 1900m high and 5km away with this method. They die on impact of course. If you could get this setup to minimus you could probably orbit a kerbal with it. -
I would say that RCS are a better solution then gimballed engines. I use the gimballed engines frequently, and am frequently irritated by them since I often want to turn over while NOT burning...

The Story of Bill Kerman - An Emotional KSP Video
Bluejayek replied to Event_Horizon5's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I think it was 100% perfectly done. Very good job -
Simpler ships also fly a lot higher FPS. Further, clearing your persistence file may help, especially with launch pad lag. In 0.15, evn though I am on a top notch PC, my launch pad grinded to a halt becauise of all the debris I had in orbit that had to load.
-
Your missing the \'Back again\' part of this story But it is always nice when you miss the mun and hit minimus or vice versa.

new physix, new bug or is this a realistic conic patch thingy?
Bluejayek replied to dikkjo's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It has to do with floating point rounding errors in the physics engine I believe. My experience with it is that it happens most with large ships in kerbol orbit. My kerbol explorer craft often has issues on its first extra-kerbin SOI stage, but once I drop to the fginal stage (even if I\'m going faster) the kraken is gone. As per ASAS, I find the kraken often reverses or just plain scrambles your controls... eg down will make you go sort of north west. ASAS cannot cope with this at all and just makes you spin massive circles. -
I\'ve noticed that kerbals seem to have a very tiny amount of drag. I tried a 18,000m/s skydive with jeb, and it failed utterly. He hit the ground at over 1000m/s (can\'t tell since it doesnt show velocity other then the 1000 to -1000m/s vertical speed). When I used the rocket, I was able to successfully land it, slowed to around 300m/s on drag alone and the parachute + thrust did the rest.

100,000x time warp was not to make it into a \'superaction\' game. It was to make yearlong + missions bearable. On 10,000 time warp 1 year gametime is ~1 hour, 100,000x cuts it to 6 minutes which is huge, not this little 6 mintues on re-entry you are discussing. The longest mission I did in 0.15 was a bielliptic transfer to reverse kerbin orbit; I went out to around 200 billion meters for a flight time of around 7 years. Realtime it was about 6 hours on 10,000 time warp. Flying a similar mission in 0.16 took me a total of around an hour, hardly \'superaction fast\' but much more bearable. There are things to do in kerbol orbit without planets, and I am very happy squad made them bearable. Now if the kraken would just go away....

Mun Landings the Railsmith Way
Bluejayek replied to Railsmith's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I\'m impressed by the landing on a LFE. When I tyry that it alwaysbreas off; you must have been coming down really slow Good job! -
After much failure trying out the new larger parts, I remade one of my older designs, now single crew, and took Jeb on a tour of the solar system. More accurately, I did a 10 year bielliptic transfer orbit to put him in reverse kerbin orbit, and slam him into the atmosphere at > 18km/s. http://imgur.com/a/XO4vm#0

AFAIK they decided that proper IVA was too hard to do for this release so they delayed it. I haven\'t yet been able to get on 0.16 as the site has been running slow (All you other 30,000 people get off and let me download > ) But I am looking forward too it

I demand photos! Photos of the poles!

If you check out my image album, I ende4d my flight by landing on one of the poalr icecaps at 87 degrees. -
"Would you pay for..." thread confusion on "legacy" versions.
Bluejayek replied to Naiba's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What I recall being saida bout existed preorders is that anybody who buys it will be able to access all new versions as they come out at no extra cost. Is this what you mean.? -
604)When your rocket starts to rotate so wildly that your outer stage engines flex and break off. 605) When your preferred method of takeoff is attached horizontal rockets to wings and making your entire craft spin on a top like a helicopter rotor.

I demand photos! Photos of the poles!
Bluejayek replied to BeefTenderloin's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
It irritates me that you seem not to have looked through the entire albumn. There are both high and low altitude pictures for each of the bodies. The high altitude regions encompass the entire \'pole region\' (which isnt even well defined for minimus and the mun anyways because there is no glacier...) while being close enough in not to frame the planet. The much more interesting low altitude pictures show surface detail. -
Nice video. What mod is the sattelite from?

Full game, 0.14 and beyond, has stock landing legs. if your on the demo, use winglets as makeshift legs. Just make sure to spam struts. For example, this could work as a landing stage.

Daedalus, Icarus and an ethical dilemma
Bluejayek replied to Fuzzy Dunlop's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Pretend they have parachutes! Or better yet, MOOSE\'s! I\'d deorbit it. You got it up in the first place, so it cant be that bad low down.
