I c-b-a to check if this question has been asked before, but have you thought of covering the OPM planets, interstellar possibilities, or anything else of the sort?
-
Just as an aside, I think it's bitterly ironic that The Expanse is one of the shows you imply to be inaccurate over at ToughSF's inaugural post
-
Funny enough, I seem to have a weird knack for docking without RCS or serious maneuvering capability
-
In any case, now that my school obligations have ended, I have tons of free time to dedicate to the Alliance's projects. But there's still a catch when it comes to Extraplanetary and Keridian. What kind of equipment are you planning to carry onboard the ships @The-Doctor? That will greatly affect what I can do in terms of setting up mining camps and bases and whatnot.
-
There's the potential for pure fusion-based variants of Orion as well, although that's unusual/exotic enough I'm not sure there's a mod that simulates that yet.
-
I mean that you can start by setting off with the vessel you were planning to command, then worrying about which one of us will head which mission. I see that most of the ships still have unfilled command posts.
-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. On another note, if you don't want to delay to decide who gets what role, you can probably start with your own commission and then figure the rest out later
-
I'm sorry about my previous inactivity, I was utterly caught up in a lot of schoolwork but I managed. I should have a few equipment proposals for you in the coming days. Any specific requirements I should look into designing for?

So, I'm presently engaged in training exercises for the construction part of our operations on Mun and Minmus. My question is: will any mining and refining/production of parts on-site occur? Or are we carting all our parts along pre-made? Never mind, didn't remember
-
There's a potential problem I can see arising: Kerbalism doesn't allow closed-loop life support. We may need some way of bringing in new elements (particularly nitrogen/ammonia) to the system. Other than that, I'm presently trying to build a Mun outpost using KIS/KAS to get the full grasp of these techniques.

Daaamn, cool. Although I personally prefer hand-crafted content to procedural generation (and the systems generated do look kind of wonky,) this is awesome in that it proves it's possible to have multiple star systems in KSP without overly stressing hardware, at least. Although the craft to get anywhere are a different story. Maybe I'll try out interstellar after I've actually accomplished my interplanetary goals. (darn aero, darn science...)

I've never been too concerned about the transporter thing since awhile ago. It's not because I stopped believing in continuity identity, but I eventually realized that the kill-and-clone method is clearly not how ST writers want us to interpret the transporter working, even if it's the only way we can see it functioning.
-
You've awakened a hidden urge inside me. I'm getting KSPI and all the interstellar Kopernicus mods I can get my grubby hands on right this second to join in. What else do I need? I want to jump right into helping design Destiny's spine/landers. (It's going to have landers, right?)

Proceduraly Generated Star Systems
ElJugador replied to Scoutman1121's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Been requested dozens of times. Probably never coming; we need a reference point to compare our achievements, and interstellar travel is out of scope for the development. -
I've been out for the past several months, and coming back. Wew. I feel rather... ambivalent about this. On one hand, it's a little demoralizing to see it happen, and I do feel the stock game as it is felt rushed to the finish line and that the dev team sacrificed too many objectives just to get it released. I'm afraid they might enforce exclusivity or start trying to nickel-and-dime the playerbase to death with progressive additional content, and I do think even this pack could've done with some more substance/time in the oven, so to speak. On the other, another very well-known, well-loved, *and rich* developer (Paradox Studios) have already proven it can work to the benefit of the game and communities, even with a density as extreme as CKII or EU4. Plus, it gives them an all-new funding source to keep themselves well-fed and housed to sustain great free updates and amazing expansions. Lastly, I think the stock game is already quite close to reaching its full potential without beginning to railroad the player into a particular endgame route or playing style. Rrrr. What to pick, what to pick?

So, a Titan. Interesting. At some point, it'll run out of luck, either from kerbal error or something more insidious. Perhaps even the Kraken itself performing an attack on it. (/joke) I'm really pumped for whatever happens after Chromium, too!

I thought about it; see, those resources really are the big killer for asteroids. There's not much point in avoiding gravity wells if you still have to cross them both ways to resupply vitally important stuff, and other asteroids with important resources tend to be months or years away from your perspective (with few exceptions). I really don't feel that having the option of full gravity is enough to make up for those seriously punishing penalties, and the largest asteroids suffer from many of the problems that medium-sized moons do in regard to gravity so you don't win much. My feeling is the opposite: that the main belt will remain a sideshow to the real event, namely Mars and the Jovian moons.
-
Wait, both FSP and AL are novel-length? Neither of them feel that long. AL certainly didn't.
-
Whew! That was quite the twist. I found the explanation a bit off, though. Mostly because I don't subscribe to the 'black holes' theory.
-
@The Rocketeer I'm afraid I have to disagree. Too much similarity would make the system (especially the outer system) rather dull and boring in my opinion, as I have already pointed out previously. Would we be so eager to go to Jool if all we had there was three small rock moons of a few colors and a Mun-sized icemoon?
-
I can't wait for the plot twist that surely awaits us next chapter. Are you going to actually make manned landings on Laythe or any of the moons?

A Legend of Space Kerbals (AAR): Episode 3/Interlude 04
ElJugador replied to ElJugador's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Alright, so here's the deal. This series is really lacking a bit of the flair that, well, pretty much everyone else seems to manage to add to their storylines. This is, I think, because I've been rushing through putting episodes and interludes out and not really giving this series any substantial content. I'm going to try and tackle this with a different approach: Episode 4 and possibly Interlude 05, if I decide to do it separately, will be written in a more in-depth fashion, covering several missions and hopefully giving a decent (plus more humorous and atmospheric!) setup to the actual plot I have in mind. Probably sometime today or tomorrow, depending. This semester will start (and end) early. (Stupid election grumblegrumble) Thanks to everyone who's been able to tolerate my clunky writing so far, though! -
Firm no. OPM is decent as a mod, but it hews way too close to the real solar system to be truly interesting for me, and everything beyond Sarnus is kind of lacking because of it too, IMHO. Not enough interesting stuff as far as moons go, besides Wal/Tal and Thatmo. Furthermore: personally, I think we need one of the gas planets to be bigger than Jool (preferably two of them so Jool is 2nd smallest) and one of them to actually be a huge terrestrial planet in disguise. (Nova...)
