There's a visual (graphic) style autopilot (action) system that I remember existed at least in an experimental state back in .25 (or .24). KOs is your next best bet. Don't know how to code? That's not true, your future self know how. He also has a time machine and told me he knew. Mechjeb is your next best bet.

Unless you decide, through the games settings (through steam) that you don't want to update. This is usually a good idea to go about this way. When the game update, not every mods you consider essential might be ready for the jumps. I usually stick around with the next-to-new version of the game for a week.

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!
Axelord FTW replied to Mastodon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Today's fail is brought to you by muscle memory... Landed a class A asteroid I was planing on having tour Kerbin a bit but instead of hitting the Space Center button on top, I hit Recover Vessel. My brother, hearing my high voiced disdain, knew exactly that I had screwed up again in KSP. Otherwise, I had a contract to test the SABRE engine in orbit so I tried to make a spaceplane and do it that way. Since I don't do space planes often, I decided to hire two brand new recruits for the job, expecting them to die on my early attempts on getting the spaceplane at least air worthy. To my surprise, I didn't crash the plane. I didn't get it in space (so contract is still unfinished) but my point is that I now have two white suit kerbals sitting in their lounge, not being dead. This irks me. -
Man, you should try sending out missions in multiple parts. Timing three or four ships along to a single destination is a lot of work and a lot of fun. Not today, but yesterday, I sent (by launch) toward Eve: 1) Relay Comsat with six omni-antenna relay satellites. 2) Planetary base, with three kerbals and a rover for Eve itself. 3) Jeb, Bill and Bob on a regular Apollo style transfer ship+Lander for general science and stepping down on Gilly (which almost crashed, on Gilly. How, I do not know. Didn't even know it was possible to crash on Gilly) Including four contracts total and the assorted science for the whole thing, it was absolutely worth it. Too bad about those kerbals down on Eve. Certainly more fun than building a huge wobbly FPS killer in LKO that has to burn for fifteen minutes to go anywhere.

Vitriolic criticism is best criticism. In the first place, the whole point of making modding groups is usually to garner support and eventually run modded versions on the game and either run on fame or on ads. Unfortunately, this model doesn't work on singleplayer games. Even less so on games so easily modifiable like KSP (I've made a part before and I'm a moron). Okay, sure. Maybe they just want to run a sub modding group for fun (this has happened before) but doing so within a working and bigger modding community doesn't work for long. Usually. Sometimes, long standing and reputable modders might decide to band together and release mods under a brand user will recognize as being made of quality. This could have happened early on in KSP's life but it didn't. There were a few hard modding affiliation but they died quickly because sometime information and help could not be acquired within the group, so you looked outside. And then, what's the point? Currently, modders are already open and tend to help each other out on the basis of need, not affiliation. It doesn't help that I haven't heard (or at least don't recall) the people listed in the OP as being members. Not to mention the horrible parsing the original post suffers from. What's the point of making headings for a single sub-phrase? PF-CE? Planetfactory, I'm guessing. So, a group based around a single mod repo or category. The question still stand, why? -
What's your favorite day in "The Daily Kerbal?'
Axelord FTW replied to Yellowburn10's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My favorite day in the what? EDIT: Oh, that exists. Maybe I should give it a look. -
What do you mean, exactly, by scenarios? Different career progression? Different contracts?

How to build up the nerve to go to Duna?
Axelord FTW replied to Heartstrings's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Wait till you start getting *redacted* urges toward mods like TAC, FAR, DRE, Remote Tech... -
\Steam\steamapps\common\KerbalSpaceProgram This is where all of the KSP files are. You can just copy the whole KSP folder, paste it somewhere and boom. Inside the KSP forlder, the KSP.exe is what starts the game.

How to build up the nerve to go to Duna?
Axelord FTW replied to Heartstrings's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This sounds like you are missing vital information. Are you playing stock? Stock doesn't nearly provide enough information (well, it sorta does, but not readily) about how a rocket will behave and how far it can go. How much delta-v does your ship still ahve once in low kerbin orbit (80km>70km AP&PE)? Do you know the delta-v budget needed to lift from Duna? How to you break your vessel (sections)? Do you use any aerodynamic mod? Any part mods? Also, what Hannu said. -

wat? P.S. please use size changes, italics and bold text sparingly and only to emphasize. It's otherwise a pain on the eyes. P.P.S. Why? Modders openly help and contribute to each other already without the shackles of bureaucracy as it is. There's no need to add constraints and such. -
German title suggestion for the Release version
Axelord FTW replied to caipi's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Honestly, if there was anything I'd add to the German KSP version, it would be something to honor Wernher von Braun's work. Even if a lot of people want to forget what he did during the war years. -
Why I play KSP? Short version; IT DOES STUFF Long version; IT DOES A LOT OF STUFF Bonus round; SCIENCE!
-
Been around forever but only recently took back to actually be active, contribute and discuss on the KSP forums. For the most part, lurking is enough unless you have a problem no one else has had (which is really rare). If you want to participate in challenges and other things then sure, this forum is a great place to be.

How to build up the nerve to go to Duna?
Axelord FTW replied to Heartstrings's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Practice, monkey see, monkey do (watch videos of people doing it) become apathetic toward kerbals... P.S. post craft and we'll bicker about how better it could be. EDIT: @Arron Rift. That's scaredy-cat speak. Going and hoping for the best is best. Not to mention, much more thrilling! -
Now, get Better Buoyancy and see if you can play skipping stones.

How to slow down when landing in FAR?
Axelord FTW replied to *Aqua*'s topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Okay, now THAT is nice. I don't do airplanes much but I still fiddle with them from time to time (it would be a waste to ignore them, be they lonely) and I tried to setup spoilers but I had a hard time getting things right. I'll use that design, thanks. -
Mothership Designs?
Axelord FTW replied to Frozen_Heart's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Separatron are not even needed unless you absolutely want to be able to ditch those empty tanks during a burn. Otherwise, just giving the ship a bit of a spin along its main axis would be enough to get the empty tanks clear and away from the ship's trajectory. Here is something I wrote a few hours ago. It was in a thread about space stations (whose purpose often overlap with mothership). Working with FAR, this has become my go-to method for long range missions (to jool mostly in this case). My PC isn't bad but the game can still easily become a slideshow if I'm not careful. -
Chariklo Command module (Orion-alike)
Axelord FTW replied to TonyC's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
You should check out Near Future Solar if you want the solar panels to be more like the intended ones (instead of the test configuration (4 times 3x1)). -
Magnets and stuff.

Best things to watch on TV while playing KSP
Axelord FTW replied to RocketBlam's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Alien (1979) The Thing (1982, best year) (1999) (great movie, if for the wrong reasons)... I also enjoy watching cooking shows while playing KSP. -
parachute deployment very late using NEAR+DR
Axelord FTW replied to SmashBrown's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
If you are using RealChute, you might want to use drogue chutes (either separate or combined types). Real useful. If you click on a chute with the action group tab on in VAB, you can set stuff like auto-cut. I don't use DR (yet) but I like to have my drogue out by 10km, deploy at 7.5km, cut at 5km. Then the normal chute out by 4km and deploy at 1km. Just arming them will do the work instead of having them go with staging. I have yet to test the drag chutes (just found out today about them by bugging around the AG chute menu). -
Competitors/Space Race/Rival Space Agency
Axelord FTW replied to Captinfannin's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I never thought about having a non-player competitor in KSP and while the idea is interesting, I don't think it's worth the trabble. I have been thinking about fleshing out the rocket part companies more, maybe splitting the tech tree or having a way to focus money more into this or that company instead of having research yield out all encompassing parts from different manufacturers. EDIT: On the other hand, you could have contracts and background events reflect the acting of some other kerbal political bodies. For example, if you drop a MIRV, er, I mean crash a rocket on X continent, then you are automatically give a contract to do X in reparation. Not that you have never lost a kerbal or two in kerbin orbit, right?
