  1. Excellent, thank you very much! Life here just got a little sweeter.
  2. I would like to post screenshots of "stuff", like my current adventure to set up a mining and refueling base on Duna in the Mission Reports forum, and I know how to embed images. My question is, is it possible to embed a smaller version of my screenshot, so as not to take up so much space, but make it possible for the viewer to view the full sized picture by double-clicking or something? If so, how would I go about that? Thanks!!
  3. Phase 2...Launch and refuel prior to Duna ejection burn. The plan is this...I will launch all 5 required parts to the Duna mining station, from Kerbin, refuel each at my Mobil 1 refuel station at 350,000 meter orbit, and then do an ejection burn to Duna using the same maneuver node (with tweaks for each craft) generated by the Transfer Window Planner mod. This is my ISDU refueling from Mobil1 Station: Next up: separation of all 5 units in orbit of Kerbin so all can use same maneuver node for ejection burn to Duna.
  4. This thread will be about my Duna ore mining and orbital refueling station. My philosophy: When I explore other celestial bodies for science I tend to go big...a lander and an orbiting refueler...and I gather all the science available with one "trip". This, of course, requires large amounts of fuel/LoX/Mono to keep the lander fed for landings on all biomes, and enough fuel to get the lander back to Kerbin with all that science. My tech tree is filled out so all science goes to Funds and I don't "transmit"...I bring it home. I have decided that I need an ore mining and processing facility on Duna to get my science gathering explorations out to the outer bodies, beyond Duna, with an orbiting fuel station. With that in mind... Construction: I will be using 5 vehicles to transport the mining facility (I call them the Good, Bad and Ugly...mostly ugly, LOL!) The Duna orbiting fuel station is already in place from previous science exploration: My Duna drill: My Duna ISDU (with nuke electrical production): You will notice that my ISDU and "Base" have rover wheels. My only other mining operation was on Minmus and it was easy to land the ISDU, Base and Drill close enough to connect them with my Engineer, due to the very low gravity. This will not be as easy on Duna, me thinks, so I made the ISDU and Base mobile. The mining "base", with an Engineer for connecting the various parts and transferring fuel/ lOx/mono to the fuel hauler: The Fuel Rover, for bringing the fuel/LoX/mono to the Fuel Hauler, which will bring these products to the orbiting refuel station.(Again, because it will be almost impossible to land the Fuel Hauler near the mining base on Duna with its gravity): And the Fuel Hauler, which will bring the products up to the refueling station. It carries an Engineer to perform an EVA to reset the parachutes before returning to Duna surface.: And, the last p[art, the already in place orbiting refuel station, for refueling expeditions to bodies beyond Duna: Phase 2 upcoming...Kerbin launch and refueling at Mobil 1 space station.
  5. It was built in the VAB, but was for Minmus...so no parachutes originally. I'm adding parachutes for Duna and they were not attached with symmetry. Thanks bewing! That'll work.
  6. Never have figured out how to do this. In the picture below you can see my 14 parachutes. Is there a way to combine them into 1 icon? I need to separate the parachutes from the engines in this stage, but I can't get to the top engines because of all the single icons. It's amazing the little things that show up even after years. Thanks gang!
  7. A question regarding the "reworked" parts...and a chance to show I know nothing about KSP . I have carried over saved ships and subassemblies since 1.3.1. Will these still work in 1.6 with it's parts? I had just got around to upgrading to 1.5 (DL'ing, gathering mods for it, etc.)...you're killin' me, Smalls! I think I'll just carry on with 1.4 until my fave mods are updated. Thanks gang!
  8. I have questions about map colors, in particular biome map colors. After reading about map colors in KSPedia, I am still confused. The reason I ask is that I want to make biome maps with a color legend added. The problem is I really don't like the current biome maps that use a "50 shades" of some color, that are available on the Wiki..."is that biome middle lesser grey...or medium grey?". Examples are Duna, Minmus and Dress. I would rather do a scan and use colors more like the Kerbin or Mun biome maps. I don't really know how to do that. Is there a way to use a Kerbin or Mun color pallet when I'm going to scan Dress? Once I know how to do that...do I have to set the pallet before I start a biome scan, or can it be changed after the scan is completed? Once I have a completed scan, with my preferred pallet, can that be saved as a file to open in Paint so I can create the color legend? Thanks for any help, gang.
  9. Heya, DMagic. So, I found the relevant section of the "Persistent.sfs" in my saves folder. I show all my previous missing scans listed (Mun, Minmus, Duna, Ike) plus my just completed test scan of Kerbin. I have no idea why the "Sun" is listed, never scanned it. Only my test scan of Kerbin shows up in game. When I look at this text, however, it seems like Minmus should also be available still? (it's the only other one not showing "AOD" over and over). Not sure if the "AOD" means those got lost? Anywho, if you get time please take a look at the relevant text in the file below. Thanks!! http://users.frii.com/viciii3/SCAN-save.txt
  10. Success! Completed the test biome scan of Kerbin, terminated the scanner ship...and the scan data is still available. SHWEET! Not sure why I lost my previous scan data but it's working now. Thanks gang!!
  11. I'd like to change the "unscanned" areas in the Big Map during a Multi biome scan to black. The current medium grey sometimes blends in to surrounding scanned areas. Is that possible? 4X4, I'm having to do the test scan in 1X speed...I have a launch window coming up and need to get stuff together for an Eve fly-by. I will get back with you after the scan is complete and I terminate the craft. Fingers crossed the data will still be available.
  12. Making a biome scan of Kerbin now. Is there a way to make the "big map" auto-refresh?
  13. I haven't completed your troubleshooting suggestions yet...RL stuff the last month. I now have a few days to try it and I will get back to you. A huge "thank you", 4X4!
  14. Yes, I did delete the MM.dll as well...I misunderstood the list of stuff to delete. I reinstalled the .DLL and start-up is working again. Let me go back to the beginning and start your suggested troubleshooting again...1st by making sure I have the correct version of ScanSAT installed. 2 quick questions... why do you suggest I try a scan in sandbox mode during this troubleshooting? If it's to save funds, I currently have a scanner in orbit around Kerbin in my career mode game. Could I not use it for the troubleshooting? And just to be sure I'm not a complete fool, I am assuming that a completed scan still needs to be transmitted back to the tracking station for it to be available for that celestial body in the future, if my scanning craft goes elsewhere or is destroyed.
  15. I deleted these files, as suggested and now, when starting KSP I get the following error and I have to close: I have a folder in my GameData folder called "B9PartSwitch", but it doesn't match any known mod name that I have installed?
  16. So, when I do a clean, new install of KSP...and copy over my "Saves" folder from previous KSP version, my previous scans data should still be available (if I read this correctly). If this is true...I've broken something as my 1.4.3 does not have any of my scans performed in earlier versions. Looks like I'll have to do the earlier, suggested procedure to see why.
  17. Where are "scans" saved? Say I do a biome scan of Duna, is that something that's saved in a file somewhere? I ask because I'm wondering if I lost my biome scan of Duna after upgrading KSP. I usually do a clean install of an upgraded version of KSP and then copy my "Saves" folder from the previous version. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree here but thought I would ask.
  18. I am out of town for the next 2 weeks. When I get back I'll do as suggested and get back with ya. Thank you much!!
  19. SOOooo...I am apparently way more ignorant than I thought. When I do as 4X4 stated, I get no map at KSC? I'm guessing I screwed up the saving of the scanned biome map. So, once I have a complete scan of a celestial body...how do I save that so it is available from KSC or in flight around the body in question? "A mind is a terrible thing to waste"
  20. The reason I asked about "saved" scans is I have been unable to find them? I put a scanner in high polar orbit around Duna and did a 100% Biome scan with the Multi scanner. I then moved it to Ike to scan and launched exploration ships at Duna. When I got there, there was no scanned Biome info I could find? I could not open an overlay in the Tracking Station or find any way to show the Biome map I had scanned previously to aid in landing on the different biomes. Maybe I just don't know how? (would not be the first time, by far! LOL).
  21. Does scansat "keep" the information it has found after scanning a celestial body ( in the tracking center for example) for future use, or does the scanner have to remain in orbit over that body? I would like to send a scanning satellite out and have it scan the body and then leave to another body (a "moon" of the original, perhaps) and launch my exploration lander to the original body later. Will the information (say, a biome or resource map) still be available if I have moved the scanner elsewhere? I'm guessing this won't work as, how will the scanner "know" what biome my lander is over on the created biome map if the scanner has moved to a different body? But I thought it best to ask.
