I am very knew here and have been on 1.8.1 for a few months only. I have around 50 mods on mine and other than a few crashes It seems very fast and smooth to play. Some days Im fine with no problems at all. Usually I crash after many many hours of play, and if I crash at all, when I do, what I was doing is always fine when I get back. Seems fine to me knowing the incredible complexity of this simulator. It amazes me to see so many things happening at once and the detail still blows my mind.

Have not tried PBC, but thanks for that tip. Ill try it soon and Unkerballed is great. Me (still being very knew with KSP) I have done the kerbalism 3.1 mod and Kerbal Construction Time. Both of these make me feel what it would be like to actually do space at Nasa or SpaceX. They can test your ability tho to put up with issues like keeping your kerbals alive, watch out for radiation and food, Reports and EVA times and failures, put up with rebuilding your launchpad and the times it takes to do stuff. To me that approaches what it would like to be an astronaut or dare I a real Kerbonaut! lol Keep in mind tho, I am on 1.8.1 so if you are as also, be careful of the older ones that have not been updated yet. Also check out Mike Abin on youtube. Man he is great, still doing stuff (unlike Scott Manley ATM) an is a math teacher too. Just put up a new vid the other day. He does the ones mentioned above.

(1.8.1, Making History, Breaking Ground, Kerbalism and many mods) Well a few days ago I needed to have Kathely test a few simple parts for a new contract. 3 total but the last was a bit on the difficult side. It was to test a large 2.5m heat shield at a low altitude and at a hot speed of at least 1610m/s to 1960m/s in the air. Usually this is simply done by a nice descent from space and click the button at a good angle gliding down when it gets hot. But ohh no Kathely, wanted to do it her way... going up! Going up with enuff boosters to raise the heat of the rocket at 32,000 meters or so while almost burning up! Here is her successful mission. (getting rid of the boosters in the spoiler was fun to watch too) Also had to test the wide 1.5 decoupler at almost the same time as the heat shield going up. Man both of these covered the whole capsule/cockpit too. Here it is, almost at 32,000m and we are cooking the rocket! (look the the left edge overheat display, almost fried one of the cub engines) OK, lets go home and get rid of our smaller heat shield. (Keep the big one, engineers need to look at it) Job done, all 3 contracts green, got the two cub verniers, the 1.5 decoupler and the large 2.5m heat shield tested. Going up as well! Did Kathely get any extra credit for testing the heatshield ascending... No she did'nt. She got docked for over heating the cubs at 27,000m and the engineers are still cooling them off. She was pleased though, when asked about the mission, she said when asked. "Man what an awesome ride!!"

(1.8.1, Making History, Breaking Ground, Kerbalism and many mods) Well last night I got a real easy contract to just test a Rockomax BACC Solid Fuel Booster! 175s isp and 250kN in the air is not bad at all! Very easy to say the least. Most of you are saying, "yea, yea, bacc thumper, who cares..." Just needed to test it at the launchpad and call it a day. But I thought for a moment, I wonder how nice it would be to use it with a minimum of liquid fuel as well to get into orbit and have enuff to get home. So I did some experimenting using a capsule, heat-shield, decouplers, some small tanks and the swivel engine. Came up with this tiny 3 banger with a little liquid fueled topper and 3 fins! Total boost to orbit is a nice 4348 Delta V too. Got to an OK full orbit of 71km to 100km with more than enough fuel to do a nice retro back to any place in Kerbans equatorial area. Obviously I went east at the initial launch. This may be old hat to most of you but being somewhat knew here, it amazed me I could get to orbit and have enough fuel to return with a very simple rocket. I will call on this one for future career tasks for sure. At least for low orbital stuff. Jeb though looks really happy about this and I am not completely sure why? Oh cost.. Not bad for just over 10,000 kerbucks as well. Jeb had to pay for it out of his pocket too. Maybe thats why he's so happy. Maybe Nasa would not front him the money for this one!

(1.8.1, Making History, Breaking Ground, Kerbalism and many mods) So Gene Kerman said last night (on my lvl 5 career mode), "Here I have a great mission for you. We need to test the massive LFB KR-1x2 "Twin-Boar" Liquid Fuel Engine" today! Valentina says great, it should take off really nice at the newly upgraded launchpad. Gene said no, you wont test it there. I dont care how you do it but it needs to be tested only in space. In orbit and at 560,000 meters up! With only enough fuel to get you home as well. Val says oookay, at least you want me to come back! Here is that massive engine from wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com that Val needs to test: Man, 300s of isp with 2000kN is a cool engine with no less a monster tank. Here is Vals mission. (the twin boar is in the middle) She is covered by a protective shell inside a PPD-12 cupola: The rocket she built is called Lazercat 1. Over 4800 delta V should be enough to get this BOARing job done, lol.... 5......4......3......2.....1...ignition sequence start... launch! Welcome home Val! Now check here for some science and do a recover to get back to KSC. Job well done! Well I do have to say, I did try this once before to test this twin-boar surrounded by a bunch of twin-boars to see if it could handle the trip. No it did not work well. Too heavy and ugly! Too many tanks so to speak with weight issues, rather than a few smaller tanks/engines and some nice solid fuel boosters. You really have to watch your TWR and balance that out with your missions along with deltav. I'm sure it can be done with a massive twinboar city approach, but I was concerned with the basic parts of what lvl5 gave me including the only free-bee which was the twin. With Sandbox extended parts I am sure a better design would have worked just as good if not better. (and to answer anyone's question, yes I did this mission twice!)

(1.8.1, Making History, Breaking Ground, a few basic mods) Last night just a quick run to the mun to try out testing the Cheetah engine near the mun at 170,000m. Had to do it twice, needed to get to 170km and be in a suborbital flight.

(1.8.1, Making History, Breaking Ground, Kerbalism and many mods) Nothing too crazy this weekend other that a few rockets and one aircraft. Got some pics of my airship called "Aerojet Pro 3". Lost the back landing gear on takeoff but I did not restart. Just came in with the parachutes but was still to heavy and lost most of the ship as well. No issues tho, Val was fine in the cockpit and we retrieved home for a good collection of science. Only Pro's do that! Had to test the Wheesley and Juno engines and a couple parts. Mission of Aerojet Pro 3 Got everything done but "Oh no"....NO back landing gear! Val says yup, I walked away from that one, all good!

Oh yea that makes sense. lol, yea new to me as well. Good list tho. Would love to add Mike Aben and Everyday Astronaut, another of the few great utubers I watch. They are all great tho.

OK cool, but how can I redo the poll? I only voted for one and not the ones you added as well?
