  1. Indeed it is. I have never actually seen someone try to visualize what the precursor homeworld may look like. So I decided to do it myself. Especially considering that the KSP 2 Science Update is just around the corner, and I suspect that any new Easter eggs that are added may expand on the KSP Lore (along with the existing Easter eggs). I'm thinking that the abandoned storyline from KSP 1 is coming back.
  2. Normally I use Canva for school purposes, but I was a bit bored recently and decided to experiment a bit at home, and I created these artworks of planets in the Kerbol System in my free time. I'm no artist, but I'm quite happy with how most of these turned out. Maybe I will make the moons too in the future. 3. Today I did my first Mun landing in KSP 2, I had a few issues, mostly with maneuver nodes being weird, engines firing when they weren't supposed to, and the game thinking I ran out of fuel when I didn't, but I still completed the mission on my first try. I'm gonna try and get a picture of my crew on the Mun, but this is my first time putting a picture in one of my posts so apologies if it doesn't appear. https://imgur.com/a/wEQNcCm That should be the link right there, but knowing my luck, something isn't gonna work properly...
  4. I hope this wasn't intentional, I hate the idea of only being able to use each crew member for one mission. I want to be able to use all my crew for as many missions as they don't die. Also is it just me or do Kerbals not have roles anymore? No pilots, engineers or scientists, they appear to be all the same. Hopefully later when the astronaut complex becomes functional, we can have Kerbal roles again as well as not losing your crew after every mission.
  5. Maybe a small rocket and fuel tank could be allowed to act as a sort of boost system? A lot of KSP rovers aren't really fast normally so some rocket fuel for a boost might make things more interesting, no matter how long or short a race is. You would also need to think carefully about when to use it as you could only carry so much fuel in one rover. And the dynamic between different types of rovers you were mentioning, that's one thing I was really aiming for around the "Build your own racing rover" idea. Seeing what ideas people could come up with, what types of rovers would work the best in this type of race. Would larger tankier rovers be able to survive the Dunatian environment better, would smaller more manuverable rovers come out on top, or something completely different? I have been thinking over my idea for a Duna endurance race for some time now, and I'm considering posting it as a challenge thread in the future. But I'm gonna wait until KSP 2 is out. I think the new things in KSP 2 like the improved planetary geography and new vehicle parts could make the challenge much more interesting, plus it gives me time to get used to the changes in KSP 2 and plan out the rules for the challenge better.
  6. I probably should have said this in my first post but I would not expect anyone to do the entire trip in one sitting. In a multiplayer server I would expect after a few hours of driving, everyone would agree when to stop, then their progress would be saved to continue at a later date. People shouldn't be forced to complete the entire trip at once because most people don't have time to sit in front of a computer for who knows how long. Maybe there is some daredevil that would actually try to do it all at once. But for any normal group who did this, I expect they would split up the race into several different sessions since it probably is not fun to do all at once. Honestly, I'm not the best at rover designing but if I had to make one rule it would be, No using rocket engines, any power comes from the wheels, not rockets attached. (jets are out also but that isn't a problem because they don't work on Duna anyway) for any optional rover additions you would probably also want to bring along some spare parts and some repair kits (If KSP 2 will have 1.11 style repair and inventory system I assume it will) so if you do get into an accident you can fix the damage as long as you bring an engineer. and obviously you would need a way to recharge your batteries, preferably faster than they drain so you don't need to stop every 10 minutes. But if my race idea did become a thing I would probably need someone smarter than me to make up better rules. Sorry for not making those things clearer in my first post. My Duna endurance race is just an idea and there may be more things I haven't considered.
  7. Granted. You now have a copy of Half-Life 2.5. That's the one you wanted right? I wish I could accurately predict events one year in the future.
  8. I think rover racing would be a really cool activity for KSP 2 multiplayer, before I found this thread I had actually come up with an idea for a multiplayer race where basically, all participants would need to build a rover capable of completing a race from Duna's north pole all the way to the south pole. A race not only to test everyone's driving skill, but their endurance and building skills. And if your rover crashed or broke down before reaching the south pole, you would be eliminated. (Also no time warp, that would be considered cheating) The winner would be the one to reach the south pole first, or if everyone else was eliminated the winner is the last one still going. I'm really interested to see how a concept like that could work in a KSP 2 multiplayer server, especially if racing rovers are going to be a thing. (Also if anyone steals my idea and does this race themselves when KSP 2 multiplayer comes out, please make a video or something I would be curious to see the entire race.)
  9. Why is the letter W pronounced Double U and not Double V? It looks more like 2 V's rather than 2 U's
  10. I had recently finished a really interesting game of Civ VI. I say interesting because the map that I played on was a custom recreation of Kerbin. So I basically made up my own history for the Kerbals while not even playing KSP. It also took a while, 10 player multiplayer, (Hotseat multiplayer where I played everyone, I didn't actually have 9 friends to do this with over several weeks.) even on 5 times normal game speed it still took a few weeks.
  11. So far I have done 3 interplanetary missions to Duna and back, but not much else outside Kerbin's SOI. However I do hope to visit another planet before KSP 2 Releases. I remember on my first Duna mission I had to do a 7 minute burn to set up a Kerbin return trajectory because the planets weren't aligned properly and I was using nuclear engines which are quite slow compared to normal vacuum engines. That was fun. I have done a few more interplanetary missions but those were one way probes, my most memorable one being a probe I sent to investigate Jool and it's first 3 moons, then I flew it into Jool when the mission was done.
  12. Side effect: The game isn't finished yet and is very buggy Superpower: The ability to quick save and quick load in real life, that way I can undo any bad choices I want.
  13. I don't know a whole lot about the soundtrack for the game, but one idea I would like is for different celestial bodies to have unique themes for reflecting the planet/moon's personality or environment. Don't need to make a new one for every individual celestial body, just enough that each sounds at least somewhat unique. This is kind of what the Original Score Project did for KSP 1, and I really liked how it did it. So I think it would be interesting to see how not only each planet would look, but how it would sound in music form.
  14. On the lore part, I remember hearing something about a planned story for KSP 1 some time ago. Apparently there would be clues to find on different celestial bodies across the Kerbol system, such as the SSTV pyramid on Duna. Decoding signals and reading the information would reveal the location of a hidden planet for beyond Eeloo. On that planet there would be ruins of an ancient civilization that may have created the Kerbals. (This is all I remember some of it may be wrong.) In one of the KSP 2 feature videos we see a tutorial animation with a scientist looking at a map of the Kerbol system, and there is a drawing of a planet that could possibly exist beyond Eeloo. (sound familiar?) What I'm saying is that perhaps we might be able to see traces of that lost lore in KSP 2, or at the very least maybe a hidden planet, maybe we will not be able to see it on the map initially. And on the culture part, the idea of Kerbal culture is really interesting to me. What does their society and history look like? Is it similar to our own? Or is it completely different? I feel like some sort of hints to the backstory of the Kerbal race, maybe as a cool easter egg, could really add some more life to them, make them feel like a real civilization, (and yes cities or city lights on Kerbin would help with that too.) One more Idea I was thinking of to add more life to the Kerbol system. Perhaps science experiments performed on celestial bodies will reveal secrets to their past, such as the planet being habitable in the past, or it had suffered a massive impact in it's past (which would explain why the 3 celestial bodies with oceans all have massive crater-like formations visible from space), and if you get enough info, you could create a timeline of the planet's history from it's birth right up to the present day. This would serve as an incentive to get all the science from a planet besides just unlocking new parts. As you would be able to learn about the history of the Kerbal's interstellar neighborhood.
  15. This is more of a DLC sort of idea and I do not at all expect this to be in the game at launch but I thought it was still worth saying so here I am. I was thinking something like a planetary terraforming feature. (see why I said this shouldn't be added at launch?) Basically the atmospheric and surface conditions of every sufficiently large celestial body is no longer static and instead can be changed with unique colony buildings or megaprojects. For example, you could build greenhouse gas factories or artificial magnetospheres to thicken the atmosphere of a planet like Duna. Or you could build giant sun shades in orbit to cool down a planet that's too hot. Once the conditions are more survivable you could import plant life from Kerbin or a different habitable colony, or just make plant seeds yourself on-site, and spread the seeds across the planet to grow into plant life that supplies the atmosphere with oxygen. With enough time and effort the planet would become habitable to the point where life support is not needed and Kerbals could remove their helmets and walk freely on the surface. There may also be things like increased resource production or new colony infrastructure on more habitable celestial bodies that could encourage terraforming. This is just a small amount of what I imagined and I absolutely do not expect this to be in the game at launch. But I think it could be an interesting idea for a DLC or something else later after the games release.
  16. While I'm here I might as well ask (because for some reason I didn't in my first post) are there restrictions related to account personalization (stuff like changing profile pictures or backgrounds) for new accounts? I wanted to customize my stuff but I couldn't find where to do it...
  17. Hi, I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. However I have played over 1600 hours worth of KSP before joining the forums. I assume this is the right thread to post this, I still don't really know what I'm doing very well. I just hope I'm doing it correctly.
