Can I run ksp?
swiftgates24 replied to bearskin98's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I'm guessing EA took their minds and twisted them. New parts? Great! Now make a small payment of 0.99$ and you can get them today! -
Can I run ksp?
swiftgates24 replied to bearskin98's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I probably should've worded by original post better. It will run KSP at lower part counts fairly well, but I'm assuming by 'really big' you mean 1000+, and at the part count, you will run into some fps drops. Also, .25 is free if you've already bought KSP. Physical Memory = RAM, not Physical Memory = Hard Drive space. -
Can I run ksp?

CPU will be just as good as a last-gen i3, aka not very good. GPU is also very 'meh', but at least it isn't integrated. 10 GB of RAM is good. As stated above, it would run KSP, but not very well. -
The first PC still has an integrated GPU. The second one does have a GPU, yet it is very poor. The CPUs perform half of what their Intel counterparts do. They've got 8GB of RAM, but they're SDRAM and it doesn't list the speed. Anyone can slap LEDS and fancy colors on a PC and call it a gaming pc.
-
The GPU is integrated into the CPU and is very poor. This laptop has Intel HD Graphics 4000, which is slightly better than that integrated GPU, and at half res in KSP, no AA, I get 9 fps. It simply won't do.
-
No. It's not a 'beefy' computer. It's a sidegrade, maybe a very slight upgrade to your horrible laptop. Sorry. Also, there is a thread in this forum for PC building/buying tips Description of the CPU from CPUBoss: "The AMD A6 5200 is a mobile processor chip that’s based on the Bobcat architecture and was presented in the second quarter of 2013. It’s a quad core processor, with each core clocked at 2.0GHz, with no option for overclocking. The chip also includes an integrated Radeon HD 8400 GPU that’s clocked at 600MHz. Currently the A6 5200 is best suited for 14-inch, or bigger, laptops and notebooks which are expected to be able to handle everyday tasks- like Office, Internet browsing, and even older and less-demanding games- however more recent games may prove to be a challenge to this processor." 8GB of ram is enough for gaming these days, although a 1x8GB stick isn't optimal.

End-Game Suggestions: Post Yours!

Endless new random planets to explore after the original system, and more things to do on them. -
Found it. Also, where is that early moho looking picture from?
-
I always thought it was C7 myself, or Nova. I just went with what sal said. Always trust sal.

During the live stream someone said it looked like a pollen grain, who I guess was Capt'n Skunky. I suggested they name it Pollen in the chat, and someone in the stream said that's a good idea. After the stream, a thread was made about what to name it, and it all revolved around the word pollen. We didn't hear anything else about its name until .18 was released, and it was called Pol. I've always taken pride in knowing I was the one who suggested Pollen which became Pol, but now that I know it was Capt'n Skunky who mentioned what it looked like before and sparked the idea, I believe it is his doing

Haswell E (5820k, 5930k, 5690X) and Haswell+ Xeons are for rendering. i7/i5 are for games and other things, and i3/Pentium/Celeron are for simple computing. An i7 4790k or even an i5 4690k should do you fine.

What would you want in the next update (0.90)?
swiftgates24 replied to EvilotionCR2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm suspecting we will get more planets sometime during Beta, as it was describe as polishing up current features and building upon what is already in game. -
Another Windows x64 configuration variant
swiftgates24 replied to Cerebrate's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I also have Windows 10 Technical Preview, but x64 is still unusuable for me. However, I have experienced a 6-8 fps boost. -
[0.25/0.90] Better Atmospheres [V5 - June 14th, 2014]

It works for me. It crashed in .24. -
The next announced mod to get into stock ksp
swiftgates24 replied to smart013's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My bet is on Ven's stock part revamp. I really hope so. -
You can't overclock with that. You need a Z97 board for oc'ing, H97 is unable to do it. The ASRock Z97 Anniversary costs about 20$ more.
-
That pc seems good enough. It will get you decent fps in most games on normal. It is probably cheap because it offers 0 room for expansion, or you probably just found a good deal

I'm using a wonderful little mod called Planet Randomizer! I customized my own system which has everything orbiting Kerbin or its moons, except Jool, of course. Orbits for the curious:

All those dots are planets/moons Labeled here:

What operating system do you play KSP on?
swiftgates24 replied to CaptainKipard's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Windows 10 #keepingitreal Must say, very good OS so far. I use windows because: a.) I've never touched an Apple product in my life. b.) Everything I own is Windows! -
I didn't know those were supposed to do anything
