Should we really be concerned with breaking saves?
Deadweasel replied to 3_bit's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If the last update heralded countless Jebediahs riding SRBs, does this mean he'll now be tasked with making ridiculously-hazardous jumps over the wall of the deepest crater he- *ahem* I mean we can find? -

I'm actually bracing myself for the massive outcry (the kind that would have Obi-Wan dropping to his knees with the strength of it) that will come when people completely ignore all the pre-release hype threads like this, then come back here and howl about how all their hard work is just gone because they couldn't bother to back-up their original install first. -
Why real world rocket science is so hard...
Deadweasel replied to Phil0rd's topic in KSP1 Discussion
And don't forget that for the Apollo missions at the very least (and probably more I can't speak to with certainty), each launch had a backup crew that trained in those sims just as hard and often as the primary one. The margin for error is slim on the actual mission, true, but margin of safety? Ask the crew of Apollo 13 what they thought about how "few" safety measures they had available. -

I'm all for an update that contains enough differences in it that it can actually cause issues like this. It really highlights the fact that there's a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff being worked on, beyond just adding parts and more eye candy. Of course, it also highlights the fact that this game is still pretty early in its development too, but KSP (to me) is the epitome of the eternal "do-over" anyway, so bring it on! -
*looks at page-nav and sees 78 pages* You mean it isn't already?

Hmmm... This explains a few things, actually.. -

Nope. No (M)aps with orbital prediction or specific ship/trajectory data points here. Move along please. >_> -
Looks like a giant johnson to me.

Not sure if that really applies, since he did still offer to do it, despite the other demands on his time. In fact I'm leaning more toward offering kudos for him still wanting to take it on despite the other things going on. You offer free ice cream, you're always going to find people jumping to accept. That doesn't necessarily make them self-entitled though. A good example of that would be: "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! How DARE you not finish the thing you offered to do free for me! This is wrong and unacceptable!!" /Works in customer service //Knows the scenario far too well

Going to need a path, more than just the filename, in order to get it to show up to everybody.
-
Maybe I just need coffee, but this scared the krap out of me when I first saw it, but then I saw the reviews and realized this will probably end up in some posh New York art gallery, where it will sell for thousands. Now THAT'S talent!
-
Tell that to Google, Microsoft, Apple, Android etc Anyway, as has been stated, users are the most reliable source for finding a use case that hadn't been intended to be encountered, but causes big trouble when it is. I'm pretty sure the kraken itself is only known because players were pushing things farther and bigger than the devs ever really expected. </semi-threadjack>

Did some work on the next chapter of my story. "Stop thinking proud pilots and start thinking Playstation: blow sh*t up!!" -Triple K

Hahaha must be a British pram then! That would never fly over here in the US (even if it was supposed to).
-
Wow... Look, I know the industry is getting more and more "hi-tech" in an effort to appeal to new hipster moms and dads, but isn't that going a little bit too far for a pram for triplets??

I have a (static) kerbal model that I've been trying to heavily modify and get rigged, but as I'm the absolute definition of "n00b" where 3DS Max is concerned, there's not much I can do with it at present. If you'd like something to use for reference, I can send it over.
-
Oh, wow! That is an incredibly creative layout for them. I had no idea they could be made to look like that! Very, nice work in that case, certainly fooled me!
-
Uhh.. "stock" means "comes with the game by default", doesn't it? /Still a pretty awesome looking probe!

We can dock where we want to, And we can leave a stage behind. 'Cause your tank don't dance and if it don't dance, Then it's no stage of mine. I say, we can go where we want to, A place where they will never find. And we can act like we come from out of this world Leave the real one far behind. And we can dance. You are most welcome for the earworm.

Stand by folks, progress is being made on Chapter 3. In the meantime, I'm also still trying like mad to get a pose-able kerbal model working, but am having bad luck coming to grips with 3DS Max, and even then, I'm still going to need to figure out how to work even deeper with this system in order to create the various expressions, clothes and hairstyles I'm envisioning for these guys, based on ideas the Kerbalizer helped to seed (see my sig banner). So far, all I've been able to get going is the model itself, but no progress getting it posed yet. The intention is to change the models enough so that the imagery I produce with them will take them outside the realm of Squad's stock look. Not because I intend to sell or distribute these in any way, but because I want to do more than what is possible with the stock assets, and maybe give them some ideas for enhancements for these little guys in the process! Back to writing!

"Man, it sure was hard work, but I got used to having all that leverage to work with to get us into orbit! Wait, what're you doing? Hey, I need that long bit at the back! Stop that! No! You don't understand! If you drop that now, all that force I've been building up will- WPBWPBWPBWPBWPBWPBWPBWPBWPBWPBWPBWPBW" *puke*

That is so freaking cool, and completely in-line with what KSP is all about! Thanks for sharing!

I have seen your works. I'm gonna go ahead and call them "intentionally not on purpose".
