There's also the interesting bit where astronauts going to the moon remarked about seeing little flashes or streaks of light every few minutes when they were trying to sleep. Turns out they were actually seeing cosmic rays literally hitting their eyes. http://www.universetoday.com/94714/seeing-cosmic-rays-in-space/

Then allow me to thank you for your service, as well as putting up with all the rest of the sh**.

Thank you, nameless mods who descended upon the spammer with reckless and well-deserved abandon! Now, back to the show!
-
Nope, that's absolutely perfect. For Jeb. Be glad it's not in flames okay?
-
Well kickass! Thank you o' wise one! Reported: "Obvious spammer with a shoe fetish."
-
These forums really need a "report user" function that notifies all the mods.
-
Cleanup in aisle three!! First time I've actually seen it happen here.

That's where voice comms cut out. They were quite twitchy back then, having to rely solely on ground-based radio dishes to transmit and receive. The shuttles later had the advantage of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) system, which relayed communications around the globe from orbit.
-
Everything was initially confidential, the same way that your reply from work to your wife's question over email about what to have for dinner is auto-stamped with "The contents of this message are confidential and are intended solely for the recipient(s)..." You know, just in case we found little bugs on the moon or something...

"noun" and "verb" were indeed for programming the computers, and they were necessary to allow astronauts to enter programs into the flight computers at the appropriate times without spending days doing it. When people say they flew to the moon using computers less powerful than most digital watches today, they aren't exaggerating. Even the shuttle was necessarily limited to systems that were less powerful than a Pentium, due to the way solar rays could interfere with processors built with smaller traces. Though the fleet eventually did get more powerful systems (not by much, really), they really didn't need a crazy amount of computing power when even a 486 clocked fast enough to handle the shuttles' needs.

This happened because back then they didn't have a space toilet. They had to literally do their business into a plastic bag, after which they added an enzyme powder to stabilize it and eliminate gas, knead it to mix in the powder, then store it away so some scientist with a really strong stomach back on the ground could do studies on it.

"Airhogging" is about as cheat-y as being able to take a rocket capable of bending over almost on itself successfully into orbit and beyond. You'll get over it.
-
Would make for an interesting mission requirement though, wouldn't it? Evacuate your folks safely into orbit, then upgrade and try to find a way to get back down there again.

I actually have a 3D model, but it's direct from the game. I too am an extreme n00b with modeling, but I'm trying my darndest to figure out how to use the model as a starting point to modify it and produce some ideas I've had for cool images. As it is right now, it's just a static mesh, which is nice to look at, but useless for anything else until I learn more about how to do a lot more. >_<

new space pilot... and new questions
Deadweasel replied to Kaelin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Welcome, and glad you're having as much fun with it as we do! To try to answer your questions: The program takes into account the general layout of your craft to determine what it is by default, but I don't know how it works. You can change the designations though, by right-clicking on the control capsule and clicking Rename Vessel. You can change the name and type in there. As for building a space station, that's going to be all about docking. I recommend launching a couple of very small ships into orbit and getting comfortable with rendezvous and docking before attempting to build a station. For some ideas on how it's done, look at the video series from Scott Manley on YouTube. He's an awesome KSP resource for learning new things. -
Flip your probe body 180 degrees. They're directional.

[1.3.1] Aviation Lights v3.14 [use MOARdV's version instead!]
Deadweasel replied to BigNose's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Woohoo! Man, talk about going to great lengths.... That sounds like quite the fiasco just to see what was going on, but glad to see you've gotten some positive results now! Maybe your A/V was interfering. Avast used to take exception to some .dlls a while back...- 799 replies

Do you see the .dll loading at least? If it's not even showing as loading in the log, there's a gremlin at work behind the scenes. :|- 799 replies

Well you can scroll through it manually afterward by hitting Alt-F2. That will contain everything that went screaming by as all the parts and plugins loaded. Look for anything that is colored yellow or red for conflicts or errors.- 799 replies

[1.3.1] Aviation Lights v3.14 [use MOARdV's version instead!]
Deadweasel replied to BigNose's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sounds like you might be missing the plugin file itself. In the path \KSP_win_20-2\GameData\AviationLights you should have \Parts\[light components] \Plugin\AviationLights.dll \Source\[various magic leprechaun files] Make sure that file is there, and then, in the Space Center scene, hit Alt-F12, go to the Database tab and hit the Reload All button. Watch the log for errors loading the plugin. If it fails to load it could be corrupted or conflicting with another mod (though my money's on the first, if the file's there).- 799 replies

Nobody knows who you're actually directing that to...

Wait a cotton-pickin' minute... WUT is that?! EDIT: Just looked it up.. Hooo-ley CRAP! Oh yeah, gonna have fun with this one!!
-
Made for Chapter 4 of Kerbal Khronicles It's tricky getting the game elements to look like they belong there, but I'm starting to get the hang of it, I think.

Chapter 4 is up! Not so much in the way of imagery this time, but I'm already working on stuff for the next one. EDIT: Oh snap! I forgot one of the images! I'll finish that one up and add it in. EDIT 2: Meh, nevermind. It's not worth the effort for that particular image. There's no action in it, nor can I really make it interesting without creating a lot more from scratch than I'm prepared to spend the time on. Next time around!
