It's not rocket science. Well, okay, maybe it is... a little. This is my dock. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My dock is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My dock, without me is useless. Without my dock, I am useless. I must place my dock true. I must place it straighter than the Kraken who is trying to kill me. I must check orientation before he kills me. I will.... My dock and myself know that what counts in this flight is not the altitude we achieve, the reliability of our ASAS, nor the RCS we use. We know that it is the docking that counts. We will dock... My dock is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its alignment, and its texture. I will ever guard it against the ravages of bad placement and damage. I will keep my dock connected and ready, even as I am connected and ready. We will become part of each other. We will... Before God I swear this creed. My dock and myself are the defenders of my vessel. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but stars!

So.... path to failure found. GREAT SUCCESS!!
-
Well it definitely was a long path, but getting it out from under the Users directory is a good start, as everything under there is protected anyway. Now that you've gotten it out from there, are you sure the folder isn't set to read-only, or that the game/mod isn't being prevented from writing files to it somehow?

KerbalBase - A website for your ships!
Deadweasel replied to Vilsol's topic in KSP1 Tools and Applications
Don't be too concerned. The site was just released, and is still in development. It's happening here too, Google Chrome. It's probably something on the site itself that's broken. -

So, basically what Spaceport (and every other major CMS out there) already uses? -

Uhh... just right-click the link, and Save As. Config (.cfg) files are just text anyway, and .png... well it's a picture, of course your browser will try to display those things natively. Just use the right-click trick on links you want to force to download, instead of trying to open "live".- 799 replies

Eh, it's pretty late to the game anyway (so to speak). I also agree that it's very bad form to publicly slam an entire segment of users simply because you don't like their platform of choice, and then to turn around and claim that Java is "too hard". Really? It's so "hard" that it's the very first language taught in programming classes. There's nothing wrong with not knowing how to code for other platforms or languages, but the OP reads like he feels it's necessary to make excuses for his own limitations by discounting or outright insulting them anyway. Not only that, but I find it hard to believe that there are that many people out there with internet connections so terrible that they can't rely on them to work for a couple of seconds to load simple pages like this or this (which will still work even after being disconnected), but can download all 434MB of Kerbal Space Program from the KSP Store, or from Steam.

I've ported my amber light over to the new layout. It's actually pretty easy to make your own; the hardest part is modding the texture file for the proper color, and that's pretty simple as well. Anyway, just download these and drop them into the folder with the other lights already there: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2004695/KerbalSpaceProgram/AviationLights/lightbeacon_amber.cfg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2004695/KerbalSpaceProgram/AviationLights/model000nav_amber.png Viola! Instant amber light.- 799 replies

KerbalBase - A website for your ships!
Deadweasel replied to Vilsol's topic in KSP1 Tools and Applications
Well, there's still the issue of a lot of n00bs either including a thumbnail that has nothing to do with their submission, adding the entire english dictionary to the tags list, or both. That's the biggest annoyance I have with Spaceport at the moment. That said, it's unlikely KerbalBase will take off since it relies on the webmaster to babysit it substantially as it is right now. There's a reason CMS is such a Big Deal on the web, and automating the receipt of submissions, crunching images to be more web-friendly (and providing multiple pre-optimized sizes for different uses on the site) are just a couple of features those things can do right out of the box. In fact, that's one aspect that has always confused me a little about this project. There's a specific claim to not using CMS, but in this case that's pretty much exactly what you NEED (not to mention that's essentially what you're building from scratch anyway). I guess what I'm getting at is that while the site does look nice and clean, it's pretty simple to achieve the same look, feel and functionality without having to hand-code every single aspect of it. I can think of at least a half-dozen ways I could get Wordpress to not only look and act like KB does, but to have it done and ready to go within a few hours. Not quite "drag-n-drop", but certainly quicker than coding by-hand a replication of a solution that already exists to address just this sort of thing. -
I'm sorry, I didn't want that to come off all harsh and mean-spirited, because it really wasn't intended to be.

Just because there's a sliver of the ole' purist in me, does anybody else realize that most of the images of space released on the web are assembled using different filters to produce false colors? Don't get me wrong, I love having some visual interest, and that image is really pretty, but that part of me that enjoys the realism aspects of the game would hound at me for the visuals to be more subtle than that. Anyway Killjoy switch toggled back off. /still think it's screaming to be a wallpaper

That's not drunk; that's reTARDIS. Somebody's been riding the short-booth today.
-
That's called "missing the point" entirely, and certainly doesn't help people to trust that it's actually what it claims to be. After all, malware is most prevalent on Windows for a reason...

Deadweasel replied to BigNose's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Heh, I have only the slightest clue what I'm actually looking at when I peek into the code. I can get a hang of the logic, but I can't really read it well enough to make changes. Well, changes that'll work, at least.- 799 replies

"These are not the kerbals you're looking for." "How can you tell?"

That is a very long path name. I would bet it's balking because there are far too many characters in it. I've seen that a few times myself in other things.

[1.3.1] Aviation Lights v3.14 [use MOARdV's version instead!]
Deadweasel replied to BigNose's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I think it has to do with the counter that handles the blinking mode, and it being called (without an "off" state) when the simulation resumes or the parts are loaded. I'll bet their resetting when hitting escape or loading them back in is a quirk based on there not being multiple segregated routines for on, flashing, interval and off.- 799 replies

Gotta be something else at play there. I have the Lazor docking camera mod installed, along with Subassembly Manager, and it's working without a problem.

SSTOs! Post your pictures here~
Deadweasel replied to KissSh0t's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Actually, sounds like the real challenge is yours. Why ask somebody to build one in a thread where people are doing just that, and often sharing the craft file? Also, there are hundreds on the Spacecraft Exchange, not to mention Kerbal Spaceport... -
Oh it's happening alright. Now that it's the weekend, I can get back on this pony!

It's (mostly) B9 Aerospace, but I'm also using Aviation Lights as well.
