  1. Today I managed to limp this SSTO to Moach, from the planet pack Beyond Jool. This took several landings for refueling, using Minmus (2X), Bop, Pol and another body from this pack, Kotta. I'll do a full post on this at some point - hoping to land this back on Kerbin tomorrow
  2. just read the wiki for GP2 Beyond Jool on the KSP Forums by Mr. Kerbin is a planet mod that has a blue, second gas planet as a Saturn analog, Sarkin. Like GP2, it is larger than Jool. It also uses some ideas from GP2’s moons, with the option to make Eeloo a moon as well. sneaky
  3. The page on the Deep Space Kraken is far, far worse. Danny's Glitch Device (also 10 years ago) is listed as 'Recently Discovered'.
  4. Looking good, just make sure to get some pictures during the mission what steroids did you give that rocket?
  5. mfw i finish a moach mission and only complete one of the objectives also, do the rover and the plane have to land as one craft, or can they be separately landed?
  6. 1. Quicksave often. Most of the catastrophic mission failures I have endured could have been wholly avoided by using f5 - f9 more often 2. Overengineering is better than underengineering 3. Get good at planning out in real time. Improv can seriously help you avoid failures. 4. Gravitiy assists are your friends. especially Laythe, Tylo and (in case of post - Jool planets) Jool assists. Learn how to use them. 5. Use the cheat menu to test designs. This is a great time-save, especially with Eve landers. 6. A kerbal's terminal velocity at Kerbin sea level is slower than the speed needed to die during splashdown. 7. Use the right engine for the right job, and in the case of the Kodak never.
  7. oohh, I should have checked BTW this also applies for KopExp
  8. CelestialBodyColor { name = Tom color = 78,94,96 } 'Tom' appears to have snuck into the DOE code. Is he coming in MoreMuns?
  9. @Vanamonde, can I get the original post moved to this thread? I'm planning to do a lot like this and don't want to clutter up Mission Reports.
  10. Ok. Do you know the fix, or is is just a thing that happens sometimes?
  11. I have a few ideas Intermediate level -Returns from Hope/Kotta/Robau objects -Entry into Tyrant's atmosphere Hard level -Landing on Hamis at 45/-45 latitude (oblate, so very steep slopes -Mt. Ebott landing -Aron return -Surviving Sarkin's atmosphere
  12. Ok, this is probably a known bug by now (had this with New Horizons), but the planets are going off the rails during timewarp.
  13. Thx. Though this might mean I'll have to land on Ebott again, which is going to be very fun (sarcasm)
  14. It's all but stated in its description anyway, if the next challenge is what I think it is i'm going to end up on that pin mountain on Moach
  15. In my previous mission report for Beyond Jool, I sent a Cassini style mission to the mod's Saturn analogue, Sarkin. This completed the mod's 'Sarkin Surveyor' challenge. The next challenges were probe exploration of minor planets analogues for Pluto, Haumea and Eris in the 'Robau Belt'. However, as there was no Comnet range past Sarkin, and as I wanted to keep this mission stock, I decided on the logical solution - doing a full crewed mission to each. And throwing in a mission to another body for good measure. Mission Objectives: Land on Plad (Pluto analogue) and its moon Chau Land on Hamis (Haumea analogue) and its moon Haki Land on Elross (Eris analogue) and its moons Mrokrok and Bongbong Land on all moons of ice giant Anune Fly-by Jool at least once System map for reference: Rocket The rocket being used for this rocket is a remake of a launch vehicle I used extensively on console - the Finale series. It uses a fairing-protected MK3 fuselage (+ some MK1s, which is still less fuel than the fairing volume could hold) and 7 NERVs, assisted by a 2nd stage of 4 Wolfhounds and a 1st stage that is bolted together. This, alongside the placement of the Wolfhounds and a set of struts along the rocket, was to lower the amount of joints and keep the rocket as rigid as possible. The lander is fairly solid, however the Science Jr is stuffed into the side of the cockpit. There is also the problem of the command stage having the radial tanks slightly clipped into each other. I suffered for that mistake. NBs If you want to have a go at these yourself, note that Anune is part of its own pack, AnuneExpansion. See the Beyond Jool Thread (link above) for details. Halfway through this mission, I re-installed AVP, so the skybox will change in some of the pictures Missions I have a lot to say about each, so they've been put into dropdowns. Arrakis 1 (Anune) Robau 1 (Hamis) Robau 2 - Plad Robau 3 (Elross) Conclusion The combined efforts of all the crews netted me over 50,000 Science. Werner was content with all expeditions except for Elross, where the loss of a single gravity scan over the lowlands triggered a perfectionism. I think these have also passed the remaining challenges, though there seems to be some more in the works. @Mr. Kerbin, bring 'em on. (btw, this took over 2 hours to put together. why did i do this)
  16. Quick post here - the next mission is nearly complete, this being a series of missions to explore Beyond Jool's outermost bodies in the 'Robau Belt'. Stay tuned.
  17. Ah. Sorry to bother you then. The only other 'bug' i'm aware of is that Mrokrok and Bongbong need descriptions, but that's nothing groundbreaking.
  18. new bug found - Plad's terrain disappears when viewed from below sea level. Loading a save when landing here causes landed craft to start falling before terminated by killsphere - images below from same point with camera slightly pitched down in 1st. (Also on plad, but probably just a general KSP bug, craft can retain landed state on takeoff)
