  1. Pretty sure all my experiments were stock, can you tell me where I said this? The original plan was to crash the Sea Hawk, as I calculated it could reach the required kinetic energy to do so. However, I failed to realise that the seismometer had an interioi limit (going too close limits science) which caused me enough frustration to abandon the idea. I later realised this while doing the other seismometers, but I decided against doing another return to Laythe's surface. Yeah, started doing it under after the first posts since I found that easier to read - anything after would have been an error on my behalf Entirely my mistake on the acronyms. The xMA-1's were references to the monoliths, seen as they are designated as TMAs in 2001, but the rest were pretty inexcusable and a result of me being lazy doing the reports themselves. Sorry about that. EDIT: About the Tylo Ascent Vehicle, I decided to not mention it in the original post since it was designed solely as the return stage for the Potatus2 crew. It was only after that when I actually used it again. Now that you mention it, I probably could have brought it up before hand, though tbh that whole report is a mess.
  2. Yep, and the chair was attached in orbit so Felipe got a face full of re-entry plasma to boot
  3. Yeah, had to restart a couple of times because of perfectionism reasons. Can see from likes that you've at least gotten to the actually successful attempt though.
  4. Hoping that this has actual weight behind it. Sounds like good news though. Also just a FAQ for the mods - how does the account/Val have 61000 more rep then she should have, given the posts?
  5. Restock part reskins The right rover had the 1.25m port on it, although said rover was not used on this mission The left rover had (front) the 0.625m cargo part and an ESU(back). I later modified the rover by adding another ESU behind it and the 1.25m probe core on the back of the rover. (tbh, i need to remove that image since most of the crafts went through design changes which are not reflected in the original images)
  6. OK, turns out the issue was that despite CKAN saying it had installed CRP, it in fact hadn't. This mod keeps giving me problems. All errors are gone now and it runs fine.
  7. BLOCK 1 (Bluedog_DB issues) BLOCK 2 (Cryotanks issues with updates on BDB) (Looking at these myself, it seems to be an issue relating to LqdHydrogen, but I'm not fluent enough to tell what's going on) This causes: As for the Airplane Plus Error, it doesn't show up at all, though that might be to do with the error coming up after these are properly flagged.
  8. Trying to load BDB and Cryotanks, but keep fatal errors involving B9PartSwitchTanks.cfg and CryoTanksFuelTanksSwitcher.cfg Also getting failed part compilation on Airplane Plus' Mk1 intake. Anyone know a fix? I've tried reinstalling A+, CT, BDB and B9 but nothing has changed.
  9. Jool had to be done separately as I only had 1 lot of goo/sciencejr, Laythe as the Hawk could probably only do 2 landings per fuelup and using the J6 was out of the question as it was running on fumes when it first got to Pol, so taking fuel out would have been disastrous. As for the Felipe incident: TAV left in elliptical Vall orbit while J6 lands Still doesn't have enough kinetic energy, so goes onto Jool orbit Vall collision set up, Felipe ejected by the chair so he avoids surface Many orbits later, Felipe gets a Tylo encounter that should eject him from Jool During the transition, the J6 is refueling on Vall, where I am messing with timewarp levels Because of this, the encounter miscalculates and Felipe stays in an altered Jool orbit He is later ejected, which I make sure is properly calculated by managing warp levels correctly J6 picks him up about 8 years later
  10. FINALLY finished my Jool V attempt, getting 154,217.1 science. Werner was very pleased except for Laythe, as I forgot a single barometer report and failed to get deployable seismometer science.
  11. My submission for Jeb Level, modded, in 1.12.5 I used the 'Jool VI/J6', a single launch monstrosity with 1168 parts and over 13000 tons. Managed to land at every biome in the Jool system, collecting repeats of split-value experiments and performing seabed landings on Laythe. In total, I managed to recover 154,,217.1 science from Jool and its moons, which is a new WR. The reason I've submitted for modded is that the relay and Darts use part variants that, while only being a boattail around the Dart and a removed truss on the relay, still don't exist in stock and therefore invalidate the mission for that category. Also used Parallax 2, which seems to mildly change the terrain, as seen by the burial of Vallhenge. Also did one instance of savefile editing to fix a broken docking port, but other than that nothing else was done.
  12. Y5. D285 - Pol Return Y5, D303 - Jool Finale Y6+ - Return to Kerbin Conclusion In total, I recovered 154,217.1 science from the Jool system. This is not only a world record but the first time over 150k points have been recovered without the use of labs and modded experiments. However, this probably only qualifies for Modded Jeb Level, as the relay dish and Darts used part variants that do not exist in stock. Also Parallax caused some minor changes to terrain relief, hopefully just on Vall but cannot be certain. I did enjoy this, but I am very excited to get back to proper modded.
  13. Redid my Titanus return mission, this time without the buff that the fuel cells had for whatever reason (think it was CRP, idk tho). Report here if you want to see how that went.
  14. My first ever post on the forums was a report on a return mission from Titanus, however during Jool V shenanigans I discovered that the fuel cells used were buffed so that they produced 108ec/s instead of 18. No idea which mod did this, probably CRP but I can't be sure. So, time to do it again. What is a Titanus? Titanus is a planet from the mod New Horizons, a quasi-system replacer in that it shuffles around the stock bodies while adding in its own celestials for you to explore. It's also very old, with its last major update being in v1.3. Only through the efforts of some forum users (notably @coyotesfrontier) has the mod remained compatible with modern KSP. As for Titanus itself, the body is one of the hardest in the pack, alongside Etal (moon of gas giant Vanor with high surface gravity) and Ernus (Decently large airless planet that also happens to be within a gigameter of NH's buffed Kerbol). It boasts a 1000km radius, with 2.1g and 7atm at surface level. The atmosphere goes up to 160km, and hits you like a brick as 1kPa is at 145km up. The only mercy given to you by Titanus is the atmosphere being oxygenated, allowing air breathing engines to work very well. Though this is probably down to me not looking hard enough, I'm pretty sure that nobody has ever returned from this planet legitimately. Design The Titanus Landing The Titanus Ascent The Sonnah Return Conclusion During the previously mentioned ladder incident I was supposed to pick up the science from the lander. However, I forgot and so only retrieved pittance for vessel recovery. I would highly recommend trying out NH, if purely because I'd like to see more attempts at Titanus and Ernus. The most modern fork is here so go try it out!
  15. I've had worse Also i think more stupid statistic is the g force. To clarify, this wasn't a single impulse - the entire craft was being constantly jolted around. Only really survived because I left the unbreakable joints on for testing purposes.
  16. I've made a dedicated thread if anyone wants to post there. Feel free.
  17. This was posted before the license was extended until next year, I'll keep this for posterity. Didn't mean to cause any panic. As most people here are probably aware the Forum license is expiring in the next few days, and with this there is a lot of concern the forums will die as a result. This thread is for people who want to share the experiences they've had with these forums, in the unfortunate event that they aren't around in the near future. Before I start with my own stuff, I'd like to thank the mods for the work they've done. And probably apologize for putting this in the wrong subforum. Anyway, I'll leave my own personal story here. If the forums do go dark, then so long, and thanks for all the fish.
