Voted. I so want to support KSP. -
How many Kerbals do you have in need of rescuing?
Alephzorg replied to Fenris's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I currently have 4 kerbals stranded in Moho orbit. And yes, Jeb is one of them. He and Bill got stucked planet side and were waiting for a rescue. The rescue vessel arrived with 2 fellow kerbonauts aboard, landed close-by, took Jeb and Bill aboard and took off to orbit. And then... it's missing about 500m/s of Dv to reach Kerbin. So now I have to decide if I wanna try to reach Eve or if I stay put and wait for a second rescue vessel. -
I've just finished reading the 5 chapters and I'm loving it. Thank you for sharing it with us and we'll be waiting for the next one.

I finally got into my second year. I have probes around Moho, Eve, Duna, and of course Kerbin, the Mun and Minmus. Others are still on their way to Jool and Eeloo (the one sent to Dres seems to have been the victim of a save hiccup and disappeared). My guys landed on Moho, Gilly, the Mun, Minmus and Ike. Playing on a laptop, I limit myself to small ships and therefore focus on small gravity bodies.

[1.2] VOID 1.1.0-beta - Vessel Orbital Informational Display
Alephzorg replied to toadicus's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thank you toadicus for your work. Something I had noticed in the previous version, it still gives Moho a 14km high atmosphere. Just a detail.- 577 replies

My Jeb is on a rescue vessel... being rescued. I stranded him on Moho with Bill after I used way more fuel than anticipated. I landed them safely but there was no way I could get them back to orbit. So I sent a rescue vessel that landed about 2km away from their lander, made them walk/EVA to the new ship and waited for a transfer window for Kerbin to take off again. But it appears I'm about 500m/s short of delta/v now... So now I'm trying to figure out if I'd rather send them fuel or try to get them to Eve to be picked up by another ship.

Eeloo should get a moon.
Alephzorg replied to Spacewalking on Sunshine's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I believe it would be a 3 bodies system and that unfortunately it can't be done in the game. -
I sent Jeb and Bill to Moho. First manned mission to the innermost planet of the Kerbol system. But Moho being Moho, I barely had enough fuel to orbit and land. 20m/s worth of fuel left. So now, I have to come up with a rescue mission.

Store History of Kerbals
Alephzorg replied to Deejay2000's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
With career and science now in the game, individual kerbal stats could be used to determine how efficient the return of information is. A more experienced kerbal would bring back more science. And as such, losing him would be a greater loss to the program, after time and money were invested to get the best kerbonaut possible. -
I've been thinking about the same thing lately. I grew quite attached to a team of Kerbals on the Mun that have been exploring for about 200 days in rovers. And I thought it would be good to see that reflected in some way in an individual mission log or a career file. We could have the number of missions they took part in, how long they spent on those missions, which bodies they orbited and where they landed, how long they spent on EVA. It could even become something useful. Let's say a more experienced Kerbal sees is "stupid" rating go down. As a consequence, his crew reports and EVA reports would earn more science points.

Kerbal Resumes
Alephzorg replied to Themohawkninja's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Didn't feel like making a new thread for this and I think it fits with the idea expressed here. More than a resume at the very beginning, how about we get access to a sort of mission log where the accomplishments of a specific Kerbal would be listed? Which flights, when, how long, which bodies he orbited, landed on, the EVAs, etc. You get the picture. This way, they could progress from junior kerbonauts to veterans. -
Thank you for the inspiration. What you did is amazing (and stock!).

I'm impressed by your building skills with stock parts. -
For what reason did you warp so much?
-
Today I landed my second base on the Mun, near an Arch, and docked my Mun Exploration Rover that found it. A 50km drive from the first base. And I landed my first automated rover on Moho.

My current save is still in year 1, day 179. So far, I have probes (most of them IsaMap probes) and/or rovers at Moho, Eve and Duna. More are on their way to Dres, Jool and Eeloo. And I try to use every transfer window I get to send something new (thanks Kerbal Alarm Clock). Kerbin has 3 geosynchronous satellites at 120° intervals and a probe on a polar orbit. The Mun has 2 bases, including one at a mun arch, and a swarm of probes orbiting it. Minmus only has 1 probe orbiting it and 1 landed. No manned mission beyond Minmus so far (in that save at least).

Bad news from NASA, should KSP follow suit?
Alephzorg replied to kiwi1960's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The UN flag is centered on the North Pole, therefore it puts the northern hemisphere first. Do I actually believe it to be an issue? Not really. But someone could argue it is. -

In what language? But I agree that the next Moon mission should be an international effort. If only because no single country seems to be willing to undertake the huge challenge (and financial burden) that is sending human beings to the Moon. After all, we managed with the ISS. -

No harm done as far as I'm concerned. And I'd be proud if France actually sent something to the Moon on its own, be it a white flag. -

To be honest, I've spent so long with Americans that I'm now immune to most of their French bashing. And the old joke about us surrendering at the first sign of trouble... I don't know. 3rd grade humor? -

Why ? A french guy -
x100000 warp gives you the ability to shrink a full year to a measly 5 minutes. How convenient for people going back and forth between Kerbin and Laythe where they are building a colony. No need to wait hours to get to Eeloo either. And if you do mission after mission like that, months and years soon add up. On the other hand, with the help of Kerbal Alarm Clock for example, you can plan multiple launches and transfers and fit them in a few months of game time. Or you might like to play it closer to home and have your fun on the Mun or Minmus. So, my question is as follow: how old is your space program? What year is it when you look in your tracking station? How far into the future did you go?

An old thread but a very efficient solution to my problem to update a pod from an old mod. Thank you.
