  1. I'm running a whole new save right now as I test out the whole mod. I've hacked the kerbins to be geniuses. 10 Kerbins with 0 stupidity. 10 fully upgraded 3.75 reactors + gens, 5 labs. Each generates 24 AM per day. 24x5 = 120 per day. It works perfectly when I have it focused. FYI you can run 5 labs doing AM forging with only 9.5 fully upgraded 3.75m reactors. EDIT: Also.. launching a 584 ton AM forge into LKO was a pain in the ass. Really sucks to see it not working.
  2. Fractal_UK You overlooked a question: Quoting from the wiki: The science lab does not need to be the focused vessel to generate antimatter, so long as it has power available you may pilot other vessels and antimatter will continue to generate "in the background." I have an Antimatter forge in LKO.. it's supposed to generate 120 AM per day... I'm on day 114 and it's generated only 95 AM. What's going on? Does it only operate when I'm in SOI or what's the deal? ~Steve EDIT: Also, are AM collectors supposed to 'work in the backround' as well?
  3. I know you changed the values... I'm looking at them in the file... and I did a fresh install of the mod. HOWEVER... testing on the launchpad shows it only using 0.14 after upgraded. I wonder if it's some bug with regards to still being attached to launch clamps/struts or something. ~Steve EDIT: Not sure what I did before.. but it's working now. Apparently I found some bug.. somewhere. I'll let you know if I can recreate it.
  4. Fractal_UK I thought you said you fixed the small AM reactor consumption? Upgraded small AM reactors are still only using Am at the same rate as the un-upgraded models: 0.14 instead of 0.41 Just a head's up ~Steve
  5. I apparently haven't been using this mod long enough... can't believe I didn't think of that. Good idea. EDIT: Warp half way between Moho and Kerbol off 270 degrees from prograde. Let the gravity well accelerate you to the approx relative speed. Warp to the approx altitude off 90 degrees from your current angle. Fine tune with thrusters. Brilliant. But... does that work? Time to test!! Fractal_UK - Might I suggest adding some wind resistance to the Dual Technique Magnetometer? I just did a 200g Aerocapture into Kerbin with mine deployed and it didn't even budge. ~Steve EDIT: Worked like a charm. Warp directly into the sun.. but stop around 3500Mm. This will put your Periaps around 160Mm. Time accel a couple days until you get your speed to around 46,500 m/s and then warp to the appropriate angle and altitude of 392.5Mm. Odd that I've never really had to use my higher education in Math and Physics until this game came around. Only had to use around <1,000 m/s to fine tune my orbit for optimal AM collection. Honestly though, if you're within 10Mm.. there's very little difference.
  6. For anyone keeping records... Optimal AM collection at 0.00 inclination: Kerbol 392.5 Mm orbit 0.0306226 AM Per Collector Jool 9Mm orbit 0.0061974 AM Per Collector Added bonus 2.45 Science per CPU per day The AM collection around Kerbol is nice... but the dV required to either set up a perfect orbit around Kerbol is around what, 10k? Jool has a very nice bonus of being able to Aerocapture and reduce dV for circularization to as low as around what, 2k or less? Jool also has the added bonus of being able to time warp for both a good amount of AM and Science. Any thoughts / opinions on this? A question of how the backround AM and Science collection works. It's supposed to work in the backround... but it doesn't. Does it, but not during time warp or something? How exactly does it work? Maybe I'm doing something wrong... does it only work for ships in the same SOI or something? ~Steve
  7. Lookz Awesome, zzz. How do you picture it deploying? In what situation? Perhaps a toggle switch? Automatic deploy when charged for the selected warp level? ~Steve EDIT: Just a reminder / note for those looking to do science that missed Fractal_UK's post earlier. You now get DOUBLE the science on the surface of planets. ie... science CPUs on the surface of Moho now make 12 science per day. I'm already building a CPU super computer base to land on Moho!
  8. Are we simply unable to do science when in close proximity to Kerbol? I'm in an equatorial around 380Mm-425Mm and I can't do any science... A lil help? ~Steve EDIT: Ahh... is it because I'm too far away from a body? Hrmm.. must be. Disregard if so. Perhaps you could expand the range on Kerbol? I don't think I got any science done even as low as 23Mm. Kinda hard to get into an orbit low enough. Or is there no Science done around Kerbol because it's a star and not a physical planet?
  9. Looks like the best Antimatter generation around Kerbol (sun) is right around 418,000-419,000 km and you get about 0.0303 per sec per harvester. Anyone have the numbers around Jool? ~Steve EDIT: Correction. 0.0306 at ~410Mm EDIT: 0.03062157, 392.5Mm, 0 inclination. Kerbol Max. Time to check Jool.
  10. Ok... so how much do you get per collector? I'm assuming 1,000 km is the ideal altitude as Fractal_UK Said in an earlier post? I tend to avoid methods which invite the Kraken to take a swipe at my ships. 6k Thrust will be WAY more than I'll need.... even with struts all over my ships. ~Steve
  11. My 570ton Antimatter Forge... in case anyone's curious. 120 AM per day... just to get a fresh launch on their way to the harvester. I'm assuming harvesters do obscenely better at gathering AM? I honestly have no idea. How much can you get per harvesting device around 900km orbit over Moho? ~Steve
  12. Why the heck would a Tug weigh 300tons? It's supposed to MOVE heavy things... not BE heavy! 2 more Qs: Who's doing the awesome art? When the CPU gets custom art... it's not going to have its dimensions changed at all, I hope? It's integrated pretty heavily into a few of my ships. ~Steve EDIT: Gah, I'm slipping. only 13% efficiency launching my 570ton Antimatter Factory into 250km LKO. My avg is 18% !!
  13. I just find it funny that it has so much dV even after weighing in at ~250tons when full of Kethane. ~Steve EDIT: Hey Fractal_UK, how about making a couple flags for us?
  14. Thanks for the heads-up...can't believe I missed that. Guess I'll relaunch that 570ton Antimatter Power Station I just got into a perfect 250km LKO. UGH! Transferring those smart kerbins over will be a pain. Better to know and do it now! Thanks again... really enjoying the new toys. ~Steve PS. Upgraded 3m Antimatter reactor with 96k sphere Kethane tank makes for INSANE dV. Over 50k on my massive science vessel! 6k thrust with 14k isp? Yes please!
  15. So you're saying we should start slapping them on everything to reduce the waste heat in the future. Is the value listed as waste heat how much each panel will reduce? I'm in the middle of building a new fleet and would love to know so I don't have to remake them later. Cheers, ~Steve
  16. Makes sense with the nozzle mass confusion... I have another question though: What exactly do the Heat Sinks / Panels do? I'm wracking my brain here but I'm a bit tired. They give you a deeper threshold for WasteHeat...but how does that help? Allow your electric gens to run hotter or something? ~Steve EDIT: And a quick "You're Awesome!" to Fractal_UK for this great mod. Very well balanced 'advanced' parts.. and I love how well it meshes with my already established kethane mining operation. EDIT 2: I know I've missed it somewhere... but how exactly do you refuel your DT Vista engine?
  17. Think I found a small oversight... and forgive me if this has already been addressed... but it seems the 1.25m, 2.5m, 3.75m Thermal Rocket Nozzles all have the same mass of 6 tons. This can't be right. Anyone have an opinion on the values they should have? Or is this actually intended? ~Steve
  18. Therein lies the joy of playing KSP. Fun no matter the outcome. ~Steve
  19. I can respect that... but I prefer to make one ship that can harvest from every place besides, Kerbin, Eve, Tylo, and Laythe. and use that with orbital fuel stations. I think I've finally finished my new 0.21.1 version. I must say that I think Kethane has officially become OP. This new ship can go interstellar with half a tank of fuel. It uses 6 small refiners and, in flight, only burns 0.26 fuel and 0.5 oxidizer with full thrust. Well, and 30.35 Kethan... but it carries 32k of that... so...
  20. 4 Drills? Really? And here I thought 2 was overkill... That's a lot of extra weight on a recovery vehicle. Then again you are on Minmus... but I like to build one ship and use it for all moons/planets.
  21. You need to put the ENTIRE Kethane folder under the GameData folder.
