  1. If there's more than one person(or even just one) that wants it, a simple feature is never a bad idea, unless it's going to cost the the developers too much to make, which this most likely wouldn't. It could be something they add right near the end, just before KSP1.0 and it would add SO much to the game for some people. As for what pangaea said, that's exactly what I was talking about because that's exactly how it works in ArmA. I can take my veteran difficulty level and add the crosshairs back or make the AI super dumb or do both or make it even harder by making the AI even more accurate. That's the type of customizable difficulty that would make sense for a game like KSP
  2. I'm fairly certain that they've already got some plans in mind for damage and such. At least, you're going to be able to EVA your kerbonauts, open up a toolbox part and use tools from it to...do things to your stuff >_> I would guess that that involves repairing or replacing things. Maybe it'll come into play when you're building orbital structures as well, who knows? Either way, I'd love to see dust, debris or micrometeorites breaking things a little bit, giving you need to EVA and repair stuff or maintain things(like cleaning solar panels). Just makes for good busywork.
  3. I think it would be a fantastic idea for SQUAD to take some artwork from the fans...maybe have a monthly(or less frequently, perhaps) contest to see who's art becomes a T-shirt. Then, as incentive to do this aside from bragging rights, give the artist a portion of each shirt's sale. Something like ten percent, maybe? Might not amount to much for some shirts, but it's better than nothin' and would really motivate the non-3D artists out there to get some KSP artwork goin'
  4. Instead of adding predefined difficulty levels, it'd be better for KSP to have various things you could toggle to set your own difficulty setting. Kinda like how ArmA does it. They've got like four presets for difficulty, but you can manually customize each. For that game, you can tweak things like HUD, enemy intelligence or accuracy and other such things. For KSP there could be options like...I don't know, unlimited fuel or cash...or better yet, set a multiplier for the rate of income with something like .5x being playable but rather challenging but something like 5x being really easy and maybe 2x being the default(1x being comparable to NASA's budget in the sixties, perhaps). There could also be things like toggling life support, resources gained from mining, toggling or setting a multiplier for reentry heat/g-force damage to parts, having a toggle or multiplier for part connections. That way, everyone can set their own play experience without needing to hassle with mods(if mods for certain difficulty settings even exist for ksp1.0). Would be good, methinks.
  5. I don't think there's anything in KSP right now that I'd want removed. I know a lot of people want SAS and aerodynamics to be tweaked/fixed/updated or whatever. I don't do much flying myself, so that's not a concern for me, really. But I don't think we're at the point just yet where they've added anything that anyone particularly disapproves of. I guess it'd be nice to see some of the older parts(especially the spaceplane bits) get a visual update...which I think they're planning on doing anyways so I guess that's that >_> So yeah, guess there's nothing at all that I'd really want to see removed from the current version of KSP. I just want to see things added to it~
  6. 195 on Steam. I got it on Steam sometime in the middle/end of April. Before that, I played a bit with a friend in .14 and .15. A lot of my Steam time is me leaving the game on overnight, though. Probably a good twenty-ish percent. I'm trying not to play too much before career mode comes out 'cause I've wanted career mode ever since I first heard about it
  7. Wasn't that only if you bought the game before the end of april? Well, I guess version upgrades are free to everyone because the game's not finished yet. But when they talked about expansions or DLC in a stream once, it pissed everyone off so they said anyone who buys the game before the end of april would get all future patches, updates, expansions and DLC(if they ever make such things) for free That's when I got it, right before the end of april on steam. I love me some free stuff XD But actual version updates(like .21 to .22) come free because...the game isn't finished yet, like I said. When KSP hits 1.0, it'll be a complete and released product. At that point, they might work on expansion content like colonizing other planets proper-like or something like that. They make money from people buying the game and kerbalizer. People probably buy the game every day but aside from that, they've most likely made enough money from people buying the game thusfar to fund their salaries for at least another year or two. I mean, the money they make from every sale goes to their employers, who then uses the profit to pay everyone's salaries and business expenses over time. That's just how it works
  8. I doubt they're going to get bought out...ever. Independent studios are taking over the industry right now and bigger publishers are starting to get bit by their own anti-consumer policies and behaviors. If anything, they'll complete KSP1.0 and start making one or two expansions to it...like filling out resources and mining a bit more, maybe have one focused on colonization and building or something like that...who knows? Right now, though, they're trying to determine exactly what they want KSP1.0 to be and in doing so, will determine what content and features would be best suited to a post-release expansion, rather than trying to cram those things in before the game releases(within the next year-ish, they were saying). Outside of them shenanigans, they may wind up making a sequel to KSP, but I feel like they might want to take a break from space madness after this. It really all depends on the team and how they feel when they're done with KSP. Maybe they'll go a little crazy and start making a milsim or puzzle platformer or something ridiculous. Who knows what they'll want to do in the future, it's quite a ways away so anything's possible, really @.,@
  9. I really like everything in that flow chart of resources. Was that actually something they posted themselves? I would love to see everything in that flow chart in the game someday and they even mention water being used for life support...it's like every little thing in that flow chart is something I want in KSP...hopefully they add food and oxygen in addition to water for life support with a couple different ways to generate each. Could have just storage tanks for food, water and oxygen in the beginning...or just x amount of each for crew-able parts, since they've already got labeled compartments for such things. But then, you'd have recyclers, purifiers and little kerbal gardens that get better as you research more advanced technologies(maybe just three or four levels of such things). Would be very good, I think...make a planetary base really feel alive with all of that stuff going on. Hopefully they add bigger and smaller drills and refineries as well as more varied scanning methods with surface missions yielding the most accurate and reliable results. Aside from that, I'm still wanting this encyclopedia thing someone suggested oh so long ago to be the backbone of KSP's science. Starting with just a few fuzzy images of Kerbin, Kerbol, Mun and maybe Minmus too, you'd have to discover other encyclopedia entries for planets by using the observatory. The entries would be really low-res and out-of-focus images of distant planets like Duna or Jool with simple, maybe even comical descriptions for them. Then, after sending a telescope into orbit, you can get much more clear and zoomed-in pictures of those distant bodies. Sending probes would reveal even better pictures with basic scientific data to fill in the descriptions. Finally, sending ground probes or even kerbonauts with various scientific experiments they'd be able to perform(even if it's just right clicking a part and watching it do something small) to the surface would give you the final descriptions and images of the planet or moon. Couple this encyclopedia with the KSP museum they mentioned that one time to show off your achievements, crafts and things...I feel like science and discovery would be a very captivating part of KSP's career mode.
  10. There will be (and already are, I believe) mods for this type of thing. But officially, there won't be any kind of war mode. As mentioned, it's on the do not suggest list and it's kind of beyond of the scope of KSP anyways.
  11. I'd be okay with something like this, though I'd only want to be able to see or interact with my friends' space program. An in-game social feature might not be that bad of an idea at all, actually. Could involve more than just trading craft files or various resources. Maybe you could have like a basic profile for your space agency and other players could have a look inside of your museum or at an interactive encyclopedia of some of your exploits. Or something like that.
  12. Kinda makes me think of HL1 demo files. Not sure if they still do that for new Source games or not, but demo files essentially recorded what every player did, where they went, when and where they fired and so on. Demo files were really small, too which was another added benefit. I would think, though, that physics would need to be much more optimized and stable than what we've got now for demo files like that to work. Sometimes a ship I know can get to orbit will spontaneously fall apart for no apparent reason. Imagine loading up an awesome flight and having your rocket spontaneously explode XD
  13. You could've really consolidated your camera threads into one topic/suggestion and just titled it something like "Better Camera Controls" or something. Anyways, having a flyby view would be decent for making videos and screenshots, but the scale of KSP is so gargantuan, that having flyby cameras anywhere in space would be practically useless. As for tower view, I don't quite know...like, from the SPH tower? Some tower part you place on rockets/stations/bases? I don't know, I guess it could be useful to someone, including yourself. Finally, Instant Replay might be a bit odd to handle. I suppose there's ways they could make it work, but it might just be a bit too frivolous to bother with.
  14. This has been suggested a few times before and people always respond rather positively to it. I think the devs even commented on it being a real possibility for KSP as a means to show some of your achievements. They didn't really go into any specifics, really, but they probably don't have it all figured out for themselves yet either. Before I'd seen anyone suggesting a museum, someone suggested that there be a kerbal encyclopedia Basically a UI element that you bring up somehow and it keeps track of things you've discovered via the observatory. For example, it starts out with some maps and things of Kerbin and some fuzzy pictures of Mun and Kerbol but when you start sending probes and things to mun, the picture gets more clear and the details beneath the picture start filling out. I really liked that suggestion as well as the museum one. Like, the museum can be a 3D representation of things your space program has done, you walk around and look at miniatures of some of your craft, maybe or pictures you'd taken or something like that while the encyclopedia would be...kind of like the backbone of scientific and exploratory missions.
  15. I'd be okay with a tool bag or something like that where you can only use one tool at a time. I get the impression that might've been what squad had in mind all along. I seem to remember(though I could be completely wrong here) harvester or someone mentioning in a devlog a while ago something to do with repair kits. Just a brief mention, no useful details or anything. So maybe it'd be another science tool or....set of science tools you attach to the side of a rover or station or whatever then interact with it from there. Maybe there'd be internal tool parts as well in case something breaks on the inside of a station or base.
  16. But we've already got nodes and things attaching to each other by them. We've also already got a very fantastic mod featuring winches, attachments and the like. Besides, it's not like astronauts have pockets. They get into their suit and go do what they need to do using giant tools made to be worked with their cumbersome outfits. So having the ability to grab just one or two tools at a time while maybe hooking one onto your suit's pack makes more sense than having an actual inventory for storing multiple tools. That said, I wouldn't dislike having a deep inventory system. Just seems a bit out of KSP's scope.
  17. Even the best of our PCs have troubles getting sixty frames a second in KSP consistently. There's just too much to compute. Also, I wouldn't recommend buying a laptop for gaming. If you absolutely need a laptop for school or work or something...then you can get a really modest setup for cheap and it'll do just about anything you need in the way of productivity. But if you're going to be shelling out extra money for something that can play games, it'd be a better idea just to take the leftovers from your laptop fund, invest a little extra into it and build yourself a desktop.
  18. They've done kerbalcon twice now, I think. But they've mainly just been stream events, right? I don't know, last year's came just after I started a long hiatus from KSP madness so I kinda missed out on it >_>
  19. It's planned. You're going to need to use the observatory to discover planets in career mode. Hopefully, they only discover big planets and you'll have to send orbital telescopes and/or probes to discover moons and smaller bodies. Either way, it should be really good and would probably look good over there on them mountains...if not a bit far away from KSC proper.
  20. It's definitely been suggested before, though probably not as many times as tex seems to claim >_> Either way, it's a good suggestion and since there's a new list of noteworthy suggestions not on the do-not-suggest list, I see no harm in suggesting it again.
  21. A fully-featured inventory might be a little too deep for KSP. Something like the kerbal attachment system would be perfect, however. Maybe have an attachment point on your back for medium parts or objects with some kind of robotic components for rovers to handle larger things. Maybe have smaller attachment points for each hand, useful for grabbing tools and such for EVA repairs and maintenance.
  22. Not gonna lie, most of those items seem unlikely to be in the next patch for KSP. Aerodynamics will probably come when they remake all the spaceplane parts, which most likely isn't going to be anytime soon. Resources and mining could be in, though...then again, that'd require a bunch of effort into new parts and some underlying mechanics. I figure mining, aerodynamics and the observatory would all have to be their own patches due to the amount of effort that'd be necessary to get them going. Of course, it would surely be fantastic if they managed to get one of them into the next patch. My personal hope for that unlikely outcome would be mining 'cause I don't have all that much interest in aerodynamic stuff...though that could change if they came out with new parts and mechanics. Hmm~
  23. They're already planning on making research more or less tied to flights. Like, the more you fly, the more research...exeperience or something you gain. Somethin' like that. Harvester was talking about it in a thread in general discussions the other day. Pretty interesting, but I don't remember anything specific as to what he was saying, just that he wanted research to happen from things you do, rather than investing time or money...basically, just waiting for research things to unlock. So that's the direction they're going with research and development and it'll probably include bonuses for doing things on other planets. I surely hope they can make the system really deep and complex while still being intuitive and accessible. Otherwise, there'll probably be at least one mod for such a thing in the future.
  24. Resources are going to be a big part of career mode so you can be that we'll see somethin' in the way of them in the next couple patches. Though I think at the moment, they're focusing more on UI and framework stuff. But resources can't be that far off, it's one of the most demanded features right now
  25. I'd really like to see this mod feature compatibility with something like KASPAR, HOME, Fustek and others More mod compatibility and collaboration everywhere, I say
