  1. So I installed this and sadly makes my computer lags like crazy, but only on certain viewpoints? Either when looking at the night side on the map or when looking at the Sun, didn't massively test this though. I really really liked Interstellar so I liked the idea of the Sun being a worm hole. But I did end up using the Interstellar music mod, and holy shoot you are a godsend! Having Coward play while I'm slowly stumbling down the atmosphere during "ascent" makes for on the best KSP moments I've ever had!
  2. I do have Deadly Re-entry so I really can't re-enter too steeply. I have used air breaks in the past, although they feel pretty wrong using at sugh high speeds - surely such a high speed is likely to rip them off. I'll however remember your trick about about flaps and spoilers
  3. And as Scott Manley himself says, "a landing you can walk out of clearly wasn't fast enough".
  4. Ah I see, that makes a lot of sense. So it's even more important to have a shallow re-entry to keep the high AoA for as long as possible.
  5. I'd like to to thank Ferram for this really awesome mod. Stock aerodynamics just feels so wrong now, and I find after the initial learning curve FAR actually makes the game easier since drag and hence required delta-V is less than in stock. It also makes putting winglets on rocket bottoms actually useful as well. One question I have is, how could the space shuttle keep a 40 degree re-entry angle? I tried doing this but quite quickly the torque from aerodynamic forces meant I couldn't keep the AoA above ~10 degrees.
  6. Mine was all the way back in the 0.13 demo, it probably was just capsule with parachute over a decoupler and booster. Didn't even make it to space I think.
  7. This is an awkwardpost, but how do I install this? I downloaded the most recent version on GitHub, renamed the RSS folder as RealSolarSystem then moved everything into GameData. Didn't see any changes on loading up. Then I installed the EveOverhaul, and re-installed RVE, renaming the two folders in RVE as RealSolarSystem and EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements to merge with RSS and Overhaul, but I still didn't see any changes. Am I missing anything? It's worth bearing in mind I'm mostly looking at clouds - I've gotten clouds on another mod but then got purple clouds on Venus which just looks... wrong. Either way awesome work and looking forward to a proper release
  8. I should have added I am using the 64 bit version of Linux, if that makes any difference. I'll give it a shot.
  9. I guess RVE doesn't work with the latest version of RSS? I installed RVE as Dale Gribble suggests, overwriting when relevant, but the game crashed on starting up.
  10. Ah, I remember these good old days... Not that today isn't better of course.
  11. Well, it looks like the mod update nerfed the engines. I had started building an interplanetary rocket in 0.15 and polished in 0.16, sadly when rebuilding it in 0.17 using 1.3b, the rocket doesn't have as much ∆v, which I find a little curious.
