  1. What in the... How much fuel is left in that thing?? If you can manage to get that into orbit, then you could attach another ship using the smaller parts, and jettison that larger stage when need be. I haven't done much experimenting with the larger parts, but whatever you did there could be a there and back ship to a planet with the necessary modifications and additions like a second smaller ship on top.. I approve!
  2. Nice design I've got a few craft up in orbit that seem a bit bigger, but I have yet to put up an actual space station, well excluding my halo ring, don't know if that counts... but you should make a giant halo ring sometime xD Its quite a challenge getting it up, depending on its size, and as you don't have anything in the middle, so your cockpits at one end of the whole craft. I look forward to seeing more craft from you, another person who seems to enjoy bulding big things
  3. My craft is about a third of the size of aontas, and I can get my second stage on the Mun =/ you might need some improvement on that thing, O.o
  4. I improved this design a bit by using two structural pylons at the bottom, and attaching upwards facing landing legs to them. It holds the kerbals in much better, as it is hard for them to slip out on my tests. I have yet to do a 3 person test with the double legs, but it should work just like the single.
  5. It's quite easy =/ my first stage on most rockets can do that with the speed they build up, but I usually jettison the first stage to lose wait as im still in the atmosphere, and continue from there.
  6. You can use the landing legs as doors, as you cant walk through them with a kerbal. Im prett sure you can't attach anything to a leg, and as with attaching things to the control canards, they won't move even if the canard does, so your pieces would stay in the same place even if you did somehow attach them to the legs and moved them.
  7. Just barely did this before. Had my rocket that I mainly use, the thing is a fuel efficient beast, and strapped that on to some of the big rocket parts. I also replaced the rover on top of my main rocket with my one amazing spaceplane, and I sent this monster into orbit. I went on a Kerbin escape trajectory, and later came back to Kerbin\'s SOI after going around Kerbol a few times. I was on my spaceplane stage by then, and glided down to land on Kerbin. Taking off took a few quickloads, but I managed it and got back into orbit, and left Kerbin\'s SOI again. I went around Kerbol again, back to Kerbin, and finnaly used my parachutes. The only bad thing, is that im most likely going to have to remake the damn thing again in .17, but hopefully those new parts will be perfect for this, along with the new vuilding indicators.
  8. If there is caves, il send a rover before my there and back rocket.. Some caves systems would be pretty nice
  9. With the new parts, hopefully it will be easier for such things. I\'ve already orbitited around Kerbal a few times and returned to land on Kerbin with a space plane. The plane is able to reach orbit, but because I had to switch out an aero-spike engine for a liquid fuel engine, it doesn\'t seem to be able to get much past an orbit. Hopefully the new parts include a high efficency engine I can attach a decoupler to, and il be all set for visiting and returning from a planet 8)
  10. Im kinda wondering, if you mind, what your using it for? ;P
  11. Time warp could use planning, but players could maybe warp at will, and will be warping on other players screens, hopefully not causing some random ship to hit you at the speed of light. Even with two ships in a vincinity, theres going to be lag, but there could be a work around. I expect this to be implemented around the time the full game is released, if it even does get implemented. KSP is a great single player game, and I have no objections if it stays that way, but multiplayer is a nice bonus too
  12. Just attach your .craft file and we can take a look for you
  13. To my tests before I ever saw the challenge, kerbals will drift through walls on higher warps so this challenge would take a really long time
  14. I had debris that was orbiting Kerbin at 40,000m. It apears it was not affected by atmosphere, but this was back in .15
  15. I landed with a time of about 45 minutes, but never got a screenshot of it until about 50, as I hadpressed f2 for some screenshots. Il make sure to upload one when I get on a computer.
  16. Looks like the most common reason people heard of it was because of Kurt
  17. Well I just completed my 40 minute trip to the arctic, with only a few crazy problems. It was quite an exciting trip, but when I had set up the fuel lines incorrectly and my middle engine ran out, I thought nothing of it, but it caused a heck of alot of problems ;P As I was lowering myself down, my plane started to wobble alot and became hard to control. I ended up flipping around on my way down, ended up going retrograde (Is that right?), completely stopping myself, then going the other way, then back again. This continued for some time before I managed to get it under control, with only 2000 meters to spare. It was nerve racking heh, just to end up crashing at your destination when you spent 40 minutes getting there. Got some screenshots for you guys, unfortunantely none of when I was flipping around. And by the way, if anybody ever plans to go there, it is very flat so landing isn\'t much of a problem 8)
  18. I had a extremely efficient craft in .15, I was able to burn off all of my movement when I was orbiting the sun.
  19. IVA im guessing, is In Vehicle Activity. I don\'t see much use for this until the campaign mode comes out, and that is not for a long time. My bet, is partly on docking, though it might be a while before we get that, depends on how much they work on it, but I think some of the larger implementations will be planets, which I find much more exciting than docking or IVA.
  20. Try using Notepad C++, as notepad apparently changes some values so I\'ve heard. Hopefully you have a backup of that file, or you can just revert it to an earlier version to re-obtain your lost data.
  21. Enough practise and you will do it all the time picking landing points is one of my strongpoints, I can easily land my rovers on top of the mun archs, not that it does me much good though.
  22. I was thinking of building a ship to orbit kerbin with a few pods on it. Could be usefull for those stranded kerbals flyring around. Load em into a pod, activate its parachute stage, and light the srb so it deorbits itself 8)
  23. After undergoing numerous tests involving kerbals being put on top of rockets with no means of securing, and coming out with positive results that they can in fact survive, a new colonizing ship was put into construction and is finally on it\'s way to the Mun! The ship can hold as many kerbals as you can pack in there, and is moderately safe for the kerbals during flight, in theory. Loading buggys will be sent to bring kerbals to board the ship, and once full, the ship shall takeoff, hopefully with only few kerbal deaths. As the mission progresses, updates will be broadcast. Update 1: A team of 24 kerbals has been chosen, and has made it to the launch pad to begin boarding, with only a few buggys breaking apart on the half kilometer trip. Update 2: The amount of kerbals has been cut in half, causing much disapointment to the ones who did not get to join in the historic flight of the back-yard colonizing ship. The ship however, has also had some improvements, lowering its roof to help decrease the Kerbal anomaly called \'lag.\' Update 3: An odd looking hole was discovered as the first kerbonaught was climbing the ladder. Update 4: 2 of the proposed 12, of the proposed 24 crewmembers has made it aboard. The colonization ship is now ready for launch. Update 5: A failure in the release of the locking clamps was found, and the ship replaced, but the two crew members aboard the ship are missing. More crew members are needed. Update 6: 3 new crew members have boarded. Liftoff! Update 7: The locking clamps were not in the same stage as the engines, and the rocket simply smashed into the ground. A new rocket has been prepared, and 2 more crew members have boarded. Kerbal scientists say this Rocket has a 30% ratio of success. Update 8: The ship has landed, but it looks like we lost our two kerbonaughts. One, we saw fly out the back door, and the other.. not so sure what happened to him. That concludes! So far, Kerbal colonists aboard a colonization ship have a 0% chance of survival!
  24. Same thing happens with mine ;P But I usually end up with 3 stages of my rocket, instead of the one I wanted
  25. Once you\'ve rendevoused once, its so unexpectedly easy to do again.. Well for me atleast, like my ship? ;P It has a fully traversable interior
