Voyager....my ship for interplanetary travels
Guard13007 replied to stephen's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I believe in this design for 0.17! It looks just dang awesome enough to work! -
It's cool. I was worried I was being too defensive after I posted that reply. xD Yay uniqueness! Screw names! And that's very interesting, I didn't know that. I'm still debating whether I want to use mods or not. If they add this ( http://i.minus.com/iWtPOxUPUR8ng.png (the top part, the rest I half agree with/half disagree on some points)) to the game I definitely will start installing many many parts, but right now it's just too unorganized for me.

How do I balance the Mk 3 cockpit & fuselage?
Guard13007 replied to dodrian's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The "fix" is to design differently. You'll have to line engines up on the side at the center of gravity rather than at the rear. -
I've had strange things happen like this too, nothing nearly as severe, but for example, my Battlehog (plane design based on A-10) used to launch perfectly and suddenly sticks to the pad, and used to fly really well, but suddenly has a few random issues for no apparent reason. Alpha game is in alpha, what can I say? Try building a new ship. Try building the same ship from scratch (but with the new parts), maybe it'll work the second time.
-
Well I'm sorry, but I don't know that much about planes, I do know that it is a lot more similar to the 737 than the 747. xD Also, if you read the post, I already said this, and asked if someone knew a plane it better resembled. As far as size, it's hard to really say anything about size in KSP because it's so different from reality, at least in my opinion (but I am a n00b, as mentioned several times in several places). EDIT: Also, if I forgot to mention, I started this with the idea to make something similar in design to a commercial passenger plane. This wasn't supposed to be a 737.

What they said. And what Thrfoot said (it is nice, but might get too repetitive and become annoying). Dynamic music would be best, and if not, something like this randomly fading in and out while on a mission would be excellent, as long as it was in orbit somewhere. This music would ruin my mood to land or takeoff. xD

Kerbals at War - The very first KSP War movie
Guard13007 replied to Squeegy Mackoy's topic in KSP Fan Works
Thanks for the reply and all the pictures, I am in love with your designs. xD I am curious, the video fades out with a rocket engine heading towards the ground, and I can\'t see it too well, where did it hit? It looked like it may have gone out towards the tank but I may also be (probably am) completely wrong. -
B-52 Kerbalfortress [0.15 STOCK]
Guard13007 replied to ChronicSilence's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Ah, thank you, can\'t wait to see it updated! ^^ As for the B-2, holy crap! -
Roblox is like a multiplayer Lego game sorta. As for this topic. That is awesome, I\'m not quite sure how you did it (I don\'t understand the explanation) but I will be trying. I second Talisman, anyone come up with a way to actually launch craft this way (or perhaps get just to the edge of surface and launch from there, I think that could work because the physics would set in without you being 'in space' yet and you might hang onto your speed (of 0 relatively, and however much it\'ll be when you launch))???

B-52 Kerbalfortress [0.15 STOCK]
Guard13007 replied to ChronicSilence's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Any chance of the B-52 being updated for 0.16? -
Introducing the Bowing 737! I decided to try to model an airliner. The result ended up more similar to a Boeing 737 than other aircraft (unless you know a better comparison!) so it was named the Bowing 737. It was partially a ploy by the engineers to prove they were funny by mocking another name, partially named sensibly because you can put the landing gear up to make it bow. Flight instructions: Take off at full throttle with SAS turned on and pulling up as hard as you can. It will run off the end of the runway and then slowly rise. Landing instructions: Take the throttle down to 1/3rd (do not try to land un-powered) and decent gradually. (It takes a long time to get low and land, make sure you start your approach early and have enough space.) On touchdown, cut engines and tap the brakes repeatedly (about twice a second) until it stops. - Note: Your landing speed should be about 90 to 100 m/s. If you are landing any higher or lower than that, you are risking damage/catastrophe. It turns pretty well if you hold F to temporarily disable 'autopilot,' and makes very slow sweeping movements with SAS on. As always, downloads attached to top post, or download everything in 1.7 or later of the 'all ships pack' (also linked to in the first post). And now for the new experimental section: The L 1 (Part of the 'Quest for Firefly' Project) is an early design of a Firefly-class-like vessel. It doesn\'t fly too well and has yet to have a successful landing. Download Link: http://www./?19r3hri7361ief2 The L 4 (Part of the 'Quest for Firefly' Project) is a later design that does not look as much like a Firefly but flies a little better. It has also yet to have a successful landing. Download Link: http://www./?b84y9x9t1i1ctne Images:

Kerbals at War - The very first KSP War movie
Guard13007 replied to Squeegy Mackoy's topic in KSP Fan Works
This. Also, I think I already left like three comments on the video about how awesome it is. xD But anyhow, here\'s another one. It\'s awesome, please make more, and also possibly just make a few videos showing the designs and how you made them. Also, the satellite (I think I saw you mention it somewhere), I want to see that thing in another video. Someday, we shall make this game multiplayer somehow! Whether Squad does it or someone comes along with a mod. That would be epic! -
656) During braking after landing your new airliner, you accidentally hit G instead of B. (This just happened to me! D:)

Jackass - Kerbal Space Program Edition
Guard13007 replied to Guard13007's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Nah, but it is a little strange that Kerbals are made of Mun dust. Speaking of...arches built on the Mun...Kerbals are made of Mun dust...are Kerbals originally from the Mun!? O.o CONSPIRACY! -
Jackass - Kerbal Space Program Edition
Guard13007 replied to Guard13007's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Yeah, it\'s cool but... After a moment of going 'Oh that\'s cool, reminds me of the giant station I got into orbit back in 0.14.4...' I realized, this just isn\'t the right kind of entry for this challenge. It\'s mostly supposed to be about doing stupid things with EVAs, although rocket stuff would be cool too, just if it was stupid. If you make a video of that thing blowing up on take-off. I love it. xD -
Hey, another design! This one is AWESOME. Introducing the... Gerwig Battlehog mk2! - It doesn\'t tip down at full throttle as much as the mk1. - It has more lift than the first. (The wings have been angled up and forward.) - It tries to pull up instead of staying level with the engines off, so it\'s easier to land. - It has a few struts in key places making it able to survive harder landings. - The read landing gear has been moved slightly lower and further back, meaning it is easier to land without flexing causing damage. - It is more stable than the first and easier to fly. (Partially because of the wings being slightly up, making it more stable.) - It takes off a lot faster (part of there being more lift), just look at the image! - It recovers from stalls a lot better. (I stalled and recovered with 200 meters once!) - It looks a little more like a real A-10 (with the wing shape changed). Landing instructions! 1. Drop at no more than 40 degrees down with engines off to be safe. 2. At 1.2 km up or so, pull up to level (your wings level, not how fast you\'re falling, you should still fall at close to 20 degrees). 3. At about 500 meters, pull up to make as gradual a decent as you can. Under 5 degrees to guarantee safe landing. Don\'t worry about a tailstrike, as long as you are going down without stalling (pulled up too much, started rising, started falling again while pointing up, usually accompanied by spinning end-over-end), you\'ll be fine. 4. As soon as you touchdown, cut off the SAS, tap brakes to slow, do NOT hold them or as with many smaller designs, it will flip on its nose. Download as an attachment from the first post, or as part of 1.6 or later of my all downloads (link also in first post). Oh yeah, and there\'s also this thing: The Pathfinder

Can\'t wait to see it. ^^ And yes, xD I\'m the only Guard13007 around. I have a whole bunch of accounts everywhere. Hey, add me on Steam, hey, this and that. xD *insert more shameless self-promotion* Thank you!

Choosing a landing site on the Mun?
Guard13007 replied to CanuckOverlord's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Well, this is how I do it, and it works damn good for me every time. 1. Get into orbit (preferably a low circular orbit or with near where you intend to land being low). 2. If where you want to land is not somewhere in your orbit, you need to change the plane of your orbit, it\'s a bit hard to explain, but you point on the horizon directly between where you are going and where you are coming from on the navball and one way will drive your orbit one way, the other will drive it the other way. I can\'t explain it any better and you get a nice feel for it after you\'ve done it once or twice. (Additional note, because the Mun rotates, your orbit may not be over where you want it when you actually get there, just do more adjustments as you get closer, and/or as you get a feel for it you can figure out what adjustments to make earlier on.) 3. Now that your orbit goes over that spot, go to the opposite side of you orbit and retroburn until your periapsis is about 5 km (I assume you have strong engines on your craft, else you may want to come in slower/from a different angle). 4. When you get near where you want to land, retroburn until you\'re moving about 100 m/s, then slowly continue to retroburn as you get lower and you\'ll notice you have to tilt yourself upright. 5. When your path is almost straight down, go ahead and switch to burning straight down and lock yourself in place with ASAS. You can tilt a little bit here and there to kill off any remaining lateral movement. 6. As you get closer to the ground, start slowing yourself down, depending on how responsive your craft is, this will be to different degrees. For instance, mine is very quick so I can keep it between 20 and 40 m/s until I start to get uncomfortable (when I can see rocks coming up at me). 7. For final touchdown, bring it down to as slow as possible, under 5 m/s is best. Use steady low thrust instead of bursts. As soon as you touchdown, cut engines, if you bounced, just make sure you are coming down straight again so you don\'t tip over. For future flights, if you are trying to set up a base, this becomes even easier because you have the craft as a point of reference. Just land everything within a kilometer, and then you can take off again and carefully move closer to the other structures. Hope this helps and isn\'t too complex. Like I said, after the first time (or second), it becomes second-nature to change your orbit and land. Unless you decide to do a direct decent landing, in which case the biggest thing to remember is to slow the heck down while you are still high up because you won\'t have enough time to closer to the ground (3 of my Kerbals learned this the hard way). -
And again the same day! Announcing two more designs! The Gerwig Battlehog mk1 Based off of the A-10 Warthog, and flown by brave test pilot Gerwig, the Battlehog is sturdy, strong, and flies awesome. Or not, we\'re not really sure about it, Gerwig refused to let anyone else near it after he was allowed to name the craft. - For landing, cut engines to 1/3 and drop to about 500 meters above your landing point or about a minute from impact, then cut engines entirely and pull up to slow your decent. (It lands at a very high angle, but don\'t worry, you won\'t flip over and explode...usually.) - Best to keep it under 5 km as it has low-atmo engines and because the controls get funky up there. Rest of the images I\'ve posted are here if you want to see them (and an example landing): http://imgur.com/a/05Pbj#0 The K 1/K 2 It flies more like a rocket once it flies. But it\'s good fun for a little while. Both craft can be downloaded from first post or from 1.5 or later of my all ships pack (link in first post).

[Stock 0.16] Rockets, Jets and a Spaceplane
Guard13007 replied to Tarmenius's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
If I\'d slow down and think about it more, I think the last part would make more sense to me (I tend to be good at spacial things *shrugs*) but I would like the picture, at least to confirm when I think I\'ve got what you meant figured out.
