  1. That looks pretty cool but... Isn't the KSC 2 right near KSC?
  2. Just go to launch your ship (but leave it on the pad), hit m, zoom out, and time accelerate.
  3. I've been able to rendezvous at pretty much any LKO, but I have a table for orbital distances. I haven't tried to figure it out for anything about 200km though. Or anything near the mun. Or minmus.
  4. I should have taken screenies of my recent extra-kerbin trip. I brought my aphelion to 29 million km and then did a retrograde burn until I was in a retrograde orbit of the sun and returned to Kerbin that way, when I captured Kerbin i was moving 15 km/s relative to the planet. (this is called a bi-elliptic transfer isn't it?)
  5. The gravity would be calculated from the center of mass, reducing at an inverse square with relation to distance from center of mass... which already happens in KSP. So I don't think it would be much of a problem, unless the irregular shapes cannot be generated.
  6. I'm hoping for ion/MPD/VASIMR thrusters for interplanetary travel. They have an obscenely high specific impulse, but very low thrust. I'm fine with very low thrust if it means I can go REALLY far.
  7. I'm trying to get slingshots down as well. It's easier in concept than it is in practice, but I've done it. Haven't found the most efficient method yet. But I have a ship that can increase it's aphelion to twice kerbin's orbit altitude. I haven't tested it's return capability yet. But it should be able to with no issues. It would be good for a one way trip to orbit another planet.
  8. I don't want them to have SOI. Just maybe a thing on the conics patch that warns you when you'll be within some nominal distance of the other ship. like 30km? Make rendezvous much easier.
  9. Ships don't get their own SOI, I was talking about moons and small satellite bodies. It would be interesting (for orbital rendezvous purposes) if the conics patch could be updated to show you if/when you would meet up with other ships. Will that be happening in .17 (or a later update)?
  10. If it wasn't possible for moons to have moons (micro-moons we'll call them), than would a large ship be able to orbit a moon? Every piece of matter exerts it's own gravity on another. It certainly must be possible in the game code, as all orbiting bodies go on rails, and you can put your ships, however large, in orbit of a moon, and it goes on rails. So just put a small satellite (I mean the scientific definition) in orbit around a moon. It probably wouldn't have a big SOI though. Would need to be very precise to get there.
  11. I'll just wait to do this orbital construction until they release docking and orbital construction as vanilla parts/capabilities.
  12. Nice. I didn't get to see that before it got scrapped. Must have been a sweet-tongued comment. But nova, any hints as to what that photo was?
  13. Well this got derailed a bit. We never figured out what the "last transmission" photo was either.
  14. I almost never land with the 45. Of course, I'm not usually hauling cargo... check that, I'm never hauling cargo. I use all stock parts aside from the crewtank. I've landed a munbase made from stock parts, six radial engines attached to 3 radial fuel tanks with crewtanks on top, and a large fuel tank in the middle with the capsule on top, with 4 of the large lander engines as mains. I want to try to figure out a stock rover as a placeholder for when they really implement them though. Should be fun. Can you use the crewtank to control things?
  15. You should have a bonus for orbiting kerbin, landing on kerbin, leaving kerbin again, orbiting sun, and returning to kerbin. I'm sure someone could do it. I've orbited the sun and returned in versions .13, .15 and .16, several times in each version.
  16. Very neat. So you kind of could do it stock, just need a really heavy bottom, and light pontoons on top? You just wouldn't be able to surface.
  17. That is also mostly stock (fuselage pieces) but there's just some things to make it go under, no? I don't think you can do a stock sub.
  18. There's already a planet with oceans, they don't need to add another one to demonstrate it. Plus, you can build boats with the current stock parts.
  19. He said something to someone about being close when they mentioned underwater and jaws and the like.
  20. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/15524-Galaxy-2-Space-station/page7 I'm not sure what you're problem is. Look about halfway down that page. The post has 4 screenies attached. That's how you do it.
  21. I named it enterprise because it was my first station. It was quite easy too, I was surprised myself. I have it in an almost perfect 200 km 92* orbit. EDIT: Just so you know, the HOPE station (because I hope this sucker works with such a massive docking bay) is almost done, but I think I will hand it to you fine fellows early. A door is not happening with stock parts. Every time I try to launch it, it collapses. I think I just need more struts, but the explosions are so bad my computer all but freezes.
  22. EVA check in only, 6 man capacity! Crewtank Required for use! I also like to take guys there using my SSTO plane that takes advantage of the current fuel glitch. I don\'t know how well it will work after they fix that.
  23. So basically I can\'t attack anything to lander legs? I cant use the legs as grapples, and you can attach struts to them, I dont understand why I cant attach anything else.
