What about Neptune (Pluto? It was discovered in 1930. Neptune, 1846. Back on topic, I am still wondering if .17 will break persistence files and craft files. Hm. I know it's to be expected, but I'm hoping that it doesn't happen this way. -
and tanks bot for the answer. and have a nice day. It shouldn't have declined at all. You should be able to put it in a 70kmx500km orbit (highly irregular) and leave it there for eternity.

[PLUGIN, PARTS 0.16] ISRU (Mining) mod 0.11 (12.08.25)

It has to be activated by staging? Does this mean that if you have a decoupler staged after it, you can only use it once? -

Ohhh that looks so much better. I feel like I'll actually be able to tell how high my true altitude is now. -

I am excited to start populating the system in a step by step basis, as in 0.16 I've done everything sort of out of order. I had SSTOs before I had a space station. I am extremely excited to attempt landing on this desert planet. -

I agree. Eve for spaceplanes! -

Haha very very very slow descent might do it. But only might. And picking a landing site wont be easy with a descent like that. Could put your pe just inside the atmosphere, then leave the house for like a day. -

I believe it will be something like .7% as dense at kerbin's atmosphere. Which means you either need a super-glider, a powered aircraft-like landing, or it just plain wont work at all. -

I would only like space elevators implemented if we are to have interstellar travel. I want a large interstellar ship. My computer cannot handle the Mount Everest of rockets it would take to get the ship in mind to orbit. -

If you were to lower a lander on a cable, whenever anything hits the atmosphere the friction will eventually pull it out of orbit. Even on a planet with a very light atmosphere. -

I don't know the exact math behind it, but if the orbital craft (the actual piece with the winch) is heavy enough in relation to the lander and in a synchronous orbit, it should hold there quite fine, as long as ascent and descent are slow and steady, and you drop location is equatorial. There's no wind or anything in space (unless you count solar wind, it wont really push the craft unless it's made of special materials) so dropping the lander wouldn't pull the orbiter in odd directions. The wind on the planet (assuming it's not moving a super-sonic speeds) shouldn't be to much of an issue either. -

So... an Interplanetary Space Elevator (ISE)? The Orbiter for the craft would have to be unGODLY massive to counterweight the lowering and raising of the lander stage. It would also be better to have docking, and just use a craft like the shuttle from Avatar. Go down on a glide with wings, and come up powered. The atmosphere on Eve is so thick, you could quite likely have a rather easy glide-to-landing. Coming up would require more thrust and fuel, but once you got out into space, you could just rendezvous with the orbiter. (OH NO I SAID THE D-WORD) I know docking isn't coming in 0.17, I'm just pitching a hypothetical scenario. -

Does not necessarily mean the same amount of gas in a smaller space. The density is usually caused by more atmosphere pressing down on top of the lower levels because of the higher gravity. My thought would be that the higher gravity would mean a larger, denser atmosphere. A lot more gas pressed into a larger space. My guess is that the atmosphere will top off somewhere around 100km from the surface, as opposed to Kerbin's ~69km. -
I just realized... I never posted my .15 or my .16 versions here. Hm.

I can't believe that things worked... I think it might even work without the fuel glitch. Can I use that design and modify it a bit?

Very nice. Now try minmus. Easier to land, harder to get to.
-
I like the comments at the bottom of the video. Nice. I wasn't mad man lol. I was just commenting on the different engines. It just looked weird from my perspective. I haven't watched the whole video though, that thing has to rely on the fuel glitch.

My first SSTO look kind of similar to that. It worked in .15, and still works in .16. It's only a 1 man craft though, I'm trying to look for a 3 man craft design, but it's tough with the fuel glitch, as I can't tell if the design I have actually works, or if it's because of the glitch. I think it's the glitch though.

I can't wait to try and land on the lavaless planet. It's gonna require sooooo much delta v. Ion engines probably wont cut it for the retro burn into the capture. -
Idiot proof my good sir.
-
You make a valid point sir.

In your stock parts.

I wanted to point out... your parachute is on the wrong side of the decoupler. Not gonna help much when you try and save your crew, jettison, and realize that your parachute is gone with the back half of the plane.
