Truly, this is a complaint I can agree with.
-
I'm going with "somewhere on the coast".

I really wish my in-laws would either use my Amazon wish list, or at least put some amount of thought into it. Instead, I get a coloring book, a leaf blower, and yet another bottle of the same cologne as the last dozen years that I never use... and "We never know what to get you, you're so hard to shop for."
-
It's not equally bad all year. There's a mall between my home and workplace. I find a different route between November and January.
-
I wouldn't hold my breath. Squad's notorious for not giving release dates more than a day or two ahead of time, even when they've had it planned for months.

I've found that this helps with the constant music situation. Especially if you sing along.

It's Texas. Fall doesn't start until mid-January.

totm march 2020 So what song is stuck in your head today?
razark replied to SmileyTRex's topic in The Lounge
Hell if I know why, though. -
True. I haven't wrapped my brain around what MM is capable of, so I didn't know if it could handle the descriptions. (That's actually pretty cool, though.) Usually, I just edit the files, because I'm making time-tested edits that I don't ever intend to change. I also keep the original download, so I can grab the files if needed, and each update goes in its own folder. Also, I don't have to learn the esoteric runes of MM files.
-
I'm all for short descriptions, if it does nothing more than prevent the continuation of the "Kerbalz is dum and make rokets from trash! lol!" aesthetic. That crap got old real fast. Aren't those just in the part .cfg files? I think the mod is called "Notepad".

Kerbal Nostalgia, part 1: The KSP vs Orbiter Arguments
razark replied to Grand Ship Builder's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I kind of remember such discussions. They were quite silly. KSP and Orbiter are different paradigms for different reasons. -
Ok. I tend to try the obvious solutions first. One of the things I've learned from tech support and other work: "Never assume the user knows what they're doing, even if they literally are a rocket scientist." I had to walk one user through opening and using Notepad this week.
-
Nope. All I know if that you didn't mention trying that, so I asked if you did. I did note a lot of the images linked to the KSP forum, but I honestly didn't care enough to see who posted what.
-
Ah. Honestly, I didn't really follow the news on what was going on over there in any detail, since I was kind of busy dealing with the aftermath here. Glad to hear it wasn't as bad as what people were fearing. (And we didn't even lose power where I was. Everything in the fridge and freezer was fine when we finally made it back. Houses lost, yes. Power? Just fine. )

Did you try putting quotes around phrases? https://www.google.com/search?q=%2B"space+shuttle"+%2B"tape+meter"

My previous desktop was purchased specifically because SH4 was being released. I have no idea how many hours I've spent on that game, and I probably don't want to know. For a long time, it was just about the only game I played.

It takes a long time for that much debris to get picked up. There's still piles from Harvey around here. Some of the stuff needs to be gone over by insurance companies or FEMA inspectors before it can be disposed of, as well. Welcome to humanity. If there's a situation, someone will try to figure out how to benefit from it.

There's a lot in KSP to attract people of many ages and backgrounds. I've even had the pleasure of watching an 8-year-old showing a 70-year-old retired Shuttle engineer how to play.

I have question about Apollo Era mission control center?
razark replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
True, but I was actually looking at the Batcave compared to the rows of consoles. But the fact that all that other machinery is needed to drive the consoles tells you something about 1960's computers, too. -
Depends. Manual or auto-targetting? Because if you're actually figuring out AoB and speed to hit a target, then it's not just a "shooter". I've been known to break out a slide rule at times for SH4.

I have question about Apollo Era mission control center?
razark replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The big screens were driven by an entire complex behind the screen, projecting it. The Batcave and associated machinery behind the screen are bigger than the MOCR in front of it. All the fancy graphics were projected on the big screen. The terminals that the controllers used had text-based displays, or even analog instruments. -
I think you'll find that there are many different play styles involved. Some like more realism, some (for some reason) actually like the "lol kurlz r dumb" lolsplosion style. I spent my whole life immersed in the space program. KSP feeds into that. And this space program has a hell of a lot less paperwork and stupidity involved than the other one I deal with. Indeed. Being 41, I am unable to honestly answer the entire poll. Maybe if the world stopped treating kids like they're supposed to have short attention spans, they'd find that some of the kids are quite capable of holding interest in something.

Multiplayer in KSP 1.8
razark replied to popos1's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Because a significant subset of KSP players think it would be a fun thing to do. -

That's one I hadn't heard.
