  1. OMG it does look like Moho... Wow, that'd be fun to land on slightly cooled/solidified lava lmao XD
  2. Oh yeah, I'm definitely going to make flightplans with .17 and the new planets. I want to minimize my chance of manned failures after I do my unmanned tests XD
  3. Then it will get denser and denser, and eventually it'll be like moving through molasses XD but I want to try it out just to see if it is that way or not. It'll probably be one of my first missions in .17 lol. It'd be awesome to have a floating city or something over Jool (think Star Wars) so it would be possible to fly down into it with planes and then come back up when you're running low on fuel. That would be fun >=D EDIT: Probably not going to happen. Just stick with this thread; it's already here, we're on page 6 already, it doesn't make any difference.
  4. We're more efficient at creating threads than 99% of the rockets made in KSP On topic now pl0x? I'm very curious about Jool, I definitely want to try dipping into the atmosphere and seeing all the qualities it has. I wonder how similar it will be to an actual gas giant =P
  5. I would try resizing the docking module in the .cfg.
  6. I'm going to try for 1 ship/mission, but possibly with a lander, and an orbiter for the return trip. It would help with how much weight/fuel that's needed to get off the planet, and thus, how much is needed to get off of Kerbin. My ideal scenario is to enter an atmospheric trajectory with the target planet to slow down the orbiter, then the orbiter will separate the lander (or maybe the lander will separate the orbiter, considering that the lander will probably need to be much larger XD), and I'll just set the lander down and circularize the orbit of the orbiter. Might be a bit tricky with doing those simultaneously, but hopefully it won't. I'm definitely going to be sending unmanned missions first to try it all out and work out any bugs though; I don't want to risk any lives by just throwing Kerbal after Kerbal at each planet XD
  7. Right now I'm waiting through school, then I have work later, so I can't try this out until the evening.... FFFFFFFFFF WHY?!?!
  8. This is a great flightplan for my ship, since I have a Munar orbit rendezvous plan. I usually go for a higher altitude, but considering efficiency, a lower orbit altitude of 10 km is much better. I just like to have more flexibility by having a slower descent, and not have to time the descent more accurately XD I'm quite the capable pilot though, so once I figure out the needs of my ship, I just go by feel. There's usually plenty of fuel left over for any variance lol.
  9. The last time that thread was updated was August 27th; we've already seen some of the new parts from leaked/posted images, so they're definitely working on it =)
  10. HA! I like that idea XD since the Kraken likes deep space, Jool's orbit is getting out there, so that would definitely be a nice place for it to call home =3
  11. I don't get what you mean, you're not able to control your original ship after you jettison the escape pod? That doesn't sound right, because I'm able to separate a pod from my ship and control it as long as a Kerbal is in it, then go back and control my main ship as long as a Kerbal is in that. This isn't really the best mod for unmanned satellites, considering that it requires a Kerbal in order to control the pod (not really unmanned is it? XD). Also you're perfectly able to mount engines on the escape pods to deorbit, I've used them for Mun landings while my main ship would orbit overhead, and the pods can even use staging.
  12. Hey, I do all my Mun landings with rendezvous right after XD Apollo style all the way~
  13. I do agree about the space kraken part, and from a programmer's standpoint, knowing why it exists makes it all the more special to me XD
  14. Oh nice! I'm definitely going to use that, thanks for letting me know XD
  15. I'm actually quite interested in this challenge, as I was considering using this method to slow down and orbit some of the new planets in .17 while saving fuel. I might give it a shot later if I have the time XD
  16. It would be nice to be able to add all the functions of this escape pod into other pods, like MinerEdgar mentioned, so we wouldn't be limited to the 1 man pod.
  17. It does support time warp without being separated, it's shown in one of the videos.
  18. Mun = old moon, so you did exactly not that XD just kidding, I'm not that anal about details lol
  19. This is what I was thinking as well, just didn't know how to word it XD He said he was working on "a little addon", not "little addons", so based on his description, it would lead me to believe it will be all in one mod, and not separate ones. Besides, what good would docking be without being able to dock with the other ship, because it's tumbling around as the SAS doesn't work when you're not in control of it?
  20. Totally what I want to do, although I'd enjoy doing it with generating fuel. Having that base on Duna that also mines for fuel, capable of refueling your reusable spacecraft, that's what I will enjoy the most I believe. In Orbiter, I saw somebody take their space plane to Mars, and without enough fuel to get back, and I thought it was awesome that they could just refuel there and head back to Earth. It's a great concept I think.
  21. Hey, great point you made. Although I'm sure the little ruler points or w/e would serve the same purpose, I still don't see a reason to change the atmosphere gauge at all =P
  22. Having an inter-planetary bus system that can visit every body in the Kerbol system by docking with a lander/orbiter at each location, and then just discard it* and move on to the next planet/moon lol. At least that's the most complicated thing I can think of. Doesn't involve docking a ridiculous amount of crafts together in orbit either XD just the ability to dock with anything, anywhere, and at any time in the system, really allows for many things to be possible that wouldn't be possible with individual rockets. *or have it refueled by a base at said planet; if that base can replenish their fuel, you can just make space colonies everywhere and just hop around wherever you want! At that point, interstellar travel would be needed so we wouldn't get bored with our domination over the Kerbol system! Like I said, endless possibilities; the universe will be at the Kerbal's fingertips >=D Edit: noticed that my first paragraph is very similar to your post nhnifong... we were certainly thinking the same thing haha
  23. They never said they were going to restrict themselves to it! XD The possibilities are endless with the ability to dock lol
  24. Like most things in the game, I'm sure the gauge is also a placeholder. But I don't see why it's bad, the assumption that the atmosphere isn't gradual isn't a very good one lol.
