  1. Aww yeah. Mun base up and running Loving this mod, and all the MMI toys. Nice work
  2. Ahh thats what its called. I spent a fair while searching but never included the word "sun" in the search parameters. I'm a twit. Reading that, it looks like I can't set up a stable sun-sync orbit even if the game mechanics allowed it, because the Mun isn't oblate. Which just means I'll have to maintain it myself. Oh noes! I have to play KSP regularly. What a shame Thanks, everyone
  3. I thought something like that would happen. Ah well, its a good thing the satellite has an ion engine otherwise I'd need to run a fuel line from KSC Well... maybe not, but I do If I changed the name to Trans-perpendicular Eccliptic Disector I could call it TED. Yeah I'll do that Yeah, I know. Hence the "sorta not really but kinda". I don't think the KSP engine does tidal locking anyway, does it?. Or if it did my poor pc would melt in the attempt.
  4. Yes, its definately worth buying. I spent $35 on a carton of beer last weekend and now I have a stack of empty cans, but for half that price I bought KSP a month ago and it's still here. As a bonus, KSP doesnt give me hangovers.
  5. Yeah the image is my screenshot, I just dont know if thats what the orbit type is actually called. Personally I'm hoping its something like a Trans-Perpendicular Eccliptic Bisector or something equally techie and obscure
  6. I'm currently using the Kethane plugin, along with a bunch of others, and am scanning the Mun looking for good locations for a base. I put the scanning satellite into a polar orbit that is (sorta-not-really-but-kinda) tidally locked to the sun, as shown in the attachment, mainly to ensure I scan the whole surface, but also to simulate meeting the energy needs of the scanner. Its constantly in use, so needs to be constantly in the sunlight. OCD? Me? Nah... I was just wondering if this sort of orbit had a particular name because I know how astrophysicists love to name stuff. I still can't find Wolf 1 - 358 though...
  7. If you're high enough, the chute doesnt pop immediately. I don't know offhand what the altitude is that they do pop, but if you hit '[' or ']' just after you decouple it switches your view to nearby objects, like spent stages, and you can watch them to see if the chute deploys lower down. But you won't be in control of the upper stage anymore, until you change back. I think also that if the upper stage gets too far away, you can't change back. Edit: and Hello, as well
  8. Ah I think batteries that drop to 0 power are dead, for good. :/
  9. I generally use MechJeb for the launch phase sometimes and for various bits of info, and for the Kill Rot function which is IMO the best thing in the universe ever. But it isnt flawless. When I launched my Mun base I used the Ascent autopilot, which worked well, and tried to use the landing function on the Mun (during my orbit I found my first mun arch and wanted to land near it) but MechJeb had a total meltdown and couldnt seem to do anything right. So I landed manually 2km from the arch and it was the easiest Mun landing I've ever done. Mun Base Alpha flies really stably by hand, but its buggy in odd ways* which was causing the autopilot issues I think. *The 47 ton station used 0.1 tons of fuel between LKO and Mun landing, and another 0.25 to return and land at KSC. And Jeb got stuck in the crewtank when trying to go on his 3rd EVA (hatch obstructed. by the space kraken?)
  10. The mods usually say which plugins they require, so check the forum page for the relevant mods and it will tell you if you need Electrical Energy, or Powertech etc. Also you dont need to apologize for your English skills because I (and probably most people on this forum) only know one language. So you're already at least 1 language ahead of us
  11. You might have the wrong solar panels. I had that issue a lot because many of the mod packs have solar panels for the aesthetics but they dont actually produce any power, or some panels work with one plugin but not others. Oh, and the batteries are sometimes an issue, possibly for similar reasons
  12. I've given up on spaceplanes for a while. After many attempts, I started to name them things like "Burning Wreck 1b" and "Smoldering Debris Mk2" which should indicate my success rate Jeb still wants to fly them though...
  13. Your lateral speed remains the same (Conservation of Momentum) , you just have to increase and then decrease your vertical speed. 'Just'? I can't believe I used the word 'just' when refering to using a rocketpack at a height of 10ft above the ground while travelling at 500 miles an hour... I've spent too much time around Jeb :/
  14. Hello, everyone. Just dropped in to say g'day. Ive been mucking about exploding rockets, and the occasional Kerbal, for the last few days but now I have finally made it to the Mun, landed safely, and most importantly made it back to Kermin. Although it was a close thing... I dropped my Pe on Kermin down to 49k with 3.7 litres of fuel remaining. Im so glad they have aerobraking
