  1. got about 15-20m of cat5 between myself and the modem which seems to drop speed by 20mb/s or so, plus it being a peak time now seems to slow it down a little too. Have had downspeeds of 65mb/s before.
  2. Sure there is, a Geosynchronous orbit. Although yes, it doesn\'t happen at all anywhere that i know of.
  3. To complete this challenge one must create a spacecraft that can land on kerbin with enough fuel to enter orbit again, if you can\'t do that you won\'t be able to do it and go to the moon aswell, so i\'d suggest that be your first challenge. Honestly, i\'m not particularly interested in trying to create such a rocket, but its probably doable.
  4. Wow, i can\'t beleive you didn\'t notice fotrie...
  5. Um, do you realise that this evidence was presented to a grand jury to get the indictment against them?... It does mean shit. Which is why the authorites in NZ, and elsehwere didn\'t hesitate to arrest the said people and raid said operations. Which is perfectly normal under international law.
  6. If you read the FBI news bulletin you\'ll see that they shut down and seized servers in 2 locations in the USA, a location in Canada, a location in the Netherlands, aswell as others.
  7. The servers are based in The USA, Canada, Europe and probably other reasons. Not to mention there\'s also charges of money laundering and racketeering.
  8. Don\'t want to be a downer here, but i wouldn\'t say a bunch of guys blacking out their signatures and avatars a 'win'. Sure there was a short blackout, but i honestly don\'t think that was significant either. Companies that rely on the internet for revenue could not sustain that for long at all. Also, i think that the entire threat of this is way, way overstated. The internet isn\'t going to be shut down. People will still be able to blog, create, chat, discuss. But anyway, that\'s my view.
  9. Illegal, or illegal if no permission was given by the game creator and then a complaint was made? (which, technically, is already the case now)
  10. That\'s a bit of a stretch... And yes i realise that they might be on the same servers as the other language wikipedia\'s, but still, wouldn\'t it be possible to actually blank the english language one, is my point.
  11. Yes, but what i am saying is, because the entire English Wikipedia is effected, there is no reason why they couldn\'t have actually taken it down, instead of made a script run a screen after the page is loaded.
  12. Err, no. The entire English wiki is effected, not just people from the USA. In other words i\'m saying there\'d be no difference if the wiki itself was actually taken down.
  13. I don\'t get it? Only the English wiki is effected. Other languages are actually made in other languages, they don\'t do a on the fly translation of the English one.
  14. Thought everyone would be over ponies by now...
  15. Luckily for us we don\'t have a minimum approach angle. If we go higher than about 45000-55000m the atmosphere won\'t pop us back into the planet, but apart from that you can go as low as you want. Until reentry heat is added i guess
  16. Modless, yes. Modded SC4? so good its killed a sequel attempt, and citiesXL =P
  17. Now we have to wait 9 months? [me=sneakeypete]hits the time compression key to no effect[/me]
  18. Yes. Get ya whip out ;P
  19. That\'s not so bad, really. it already orbits at 9000m/s, escape velocity is around 3300m/s, you only need to find another 1000 or so m/s ontop of that if you aim your escape in the same direction as kerbin is orbiting. With my stock parts moon rocket i managed to get into a kerbol orbit of 11000m/s by doing a kerbin escape maneuver from its dark side (aiming with the momentum of kerbin basically) and then trust my way to an escape, 13100m/s was the point where i reached escape velocity like you calculated. Got upto 15000m/s, i was getting out of there fast.
  20. Hence optional. Honestly i\'d say the map one is redundant anyway. Either your looking at the map or your looking at tables to get your orbit from your speed. perhaps another option: launch your orbit in the opposite direction to the rotation of the earth so that you don\'t get any benefit otherwise.
  21. Just using a basic moon landing rocket, i\'ve gotten down to 1,797,659,252m new rocket, much closer, orbited around it with no ill effects however. Need to get closer.
  22. I\'ve done the trip to the moon and back, with stock parts, at last! (which is nothing special it seems. Someone did have the brilliant idea of using fins on decouplers as legs which is probably a better idea than lugging down a ASAS module) Lower stage of a tri stack and 4 tanks, 3 engines. 3 soild fuel boosters with 3 boosters of 2 tanks and a gimball engine each. Upper stage of a advanced SAS, 3 tanks and a gimball engine, and command pod stage of a parachute, a reaction fuel tank and 6 reaction thrusters. First stage reaches orbit and partway into moon transfer orbit, second stage first tank can do the rest. (orbited it a few times due to missing the moon on my first shot). second tank of second stage for moon orbital insertion and dropping horizontal speed, third for dropping vertical speed during landing. close to landing, reaction system is turned on, and with SAS helps hold the rocket vertical. depending on how steep your landing site is you can probably then turn it off. The remaining part of the third tank can get you back into moon orbit, and then be used to boost you off anti earth spinwards, and the remaining RCS fuel on the pod helping that. once in earth orbit again, further boosting to get your lower orbit into the atmosphere and then bob\'s your uncle. I didn\'t take any pictures however, but the mission took 4 days due to the long wait for moon to rearrive.
  23. Yeah i\'ve started this challenge before (and other people probably have too that i haven\'t noticed), but your explanation is much better than mine. Lowest i got to was about 34000m from memory, but i don\'t have any screenshots of that one.
  24. I thought it was just that the standard magazine would be adopted. Didn\'t think it meant you had to use 5.56x54, thought it meant you could also use 7.62mm ammunition (as evidenced by the fact that the SLR, g3 etc was used for a long time), and the trend to 5.56 was because it is a better (or people thought it was a better) round, not because anyone was forced to. I thought the rebels were the ones with the G36\'s? I got the impression that the people who were looking after some of the media had them. Foreign security maybe? Did raise an eyebrow when i saw them though
