  1. Yes, I don't think there are any heat tilted nosecones?
  2. I voted Darkside, as I think he did the most with the textures. I really like the tank and how it has a ribbed like look to it. The only thing I don't like is the blue part. It doesn't seem to fit, maybe if it had heavy paint chipping it might work better? It was a hard choice between Ven and Darkside. Ven is the one I would probably use in the game.
  3. That's impressive work. It's much better looking and has a smaller memory footprint.
  4. I had forgotten about the Army's solution to this. Eventually the whole generator would have fit inside the shoe. You recharge while walking. It may have been cancelled though? http://www.designnews.com/author.asp?doc_id=235935
  5. That's pretty cool. It looks like it is using two different kinds of ballutes. I'm assuming the inflatable ring around the heat shield is also considered a ballute?
  6. Zero-point energy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-point_energy .....or Unobtainium: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium
  7. Well in wind tunnel tests the bell shape has a natural tendency to right itself, so the heat shield is pointing down without anything controlling it like an RCS or heavy ballast. Spheres do handle pressure/vacuum better, but at the sizes of capsules I don't think it makes a big difference.
  8. Maybe something like this? It has all the elements you described, but probably in a way Niven didn't envision in 1966. Edit: The more I look at that picture, the more it sounds like what Niven was describing. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn3294-nuclear-fusion-could-power-nasa-spacecraft.html
  9. Minmus has no atmosphere, so it can't have liquid "water" even with salt in it. Even ice would sublime over time in Kerbin orbit unless covered by soil or in a deep dark crater. The flat areas on Minmus look like dried salt lake beds as see on Earth. At best you might find some ice deep under the salt. I think of Minmus as a captured rogue moon or dwarf planet, as it seems too different to the Mun or Kerbin. I do wonder if two large moons could really exist so close together around a planet the size of Kerbin for very long without Minus being thrown out by the Mun's gravity?
  10. Well even at Kerbin's distance I think Minmus would melt if it where a comet and leave behind a very low density fluff ball? I like the proposal that some have made that Minmus should be considered as being covered in different types of salt crystals. A mixture of Sodium chloride, Nickel chloride and Copper sulfate salt crystals could make the colors seem on that moon. I'm not sure, but Minmus's gravity might be too large for a comet too, not that there is a defined amount for a comet.
  11. The German Rheintochter............or about 95% of any German Wonder Weapons designed during the war:
  12. They spend a lot of their free time backing up their memories for the clone tanks.
  13. Here are my glorious contraptions. Mun Tank (literally)......and yes it actually landed on the Mun.
  14. Very nice, I landed a massive floating base on Laythe's ocean with a sub to drill for the kethane, but the sub never worked out. I'll have to look into this again with the KAS parts.
  15. Have you tried putting a KAS storage container inside one of the service modules? I was just wondering if a Kerbal can still get items out of it or remove and reattach the whole KAS storage container itself.
  16. I already tried and failed to do it manually. I saved a tank as a sub-assembly, then tried to added the code to the craft file, but it just ignored all my changes. I'm not a programmer so I may not be using the correct editor. (all I have is notepad) I wouldn't begin to know where to start to do it automatically.
  17. There is a picture of the ladybug here. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/24906-WIP-LLL-Lack-Luster-Labs-LLL-12-2-10MAY2014-SXT-15-1-09MAY2014?p=976417&viewfull=1#post976417 In the actual down load it's called the "LadyBird" under GameData/LLL/Parts/Utility/Buggy/LadyBird
  18. Would it be possible to make empty tanks, but add code to the tank so it would then act like a KAS storage unit for parts that you could then take out or put back in? A person would still need to have KAS installed.
  19. I would like to see someone take another shot at the Otrag system for something like this: http://www.astronautix.com/lvs/otrag.htm
  20. That Service Module is a great way to keep the unit nice and clean looking. I'd like to try fitting in TAC life support units in it. Maybe you could have a Kerbal Attachment System type storage module? So I was wondering, is the "Low profile module cap (LPC)" the half round end pieces?
  21. Make a back up of your Persistent file and then try deleting TAC and reinstalling it. One of the other new mods may have overwritten something you need. Have you installed any new mods that customize your Kerbals in some way?
