Look here, specifically towards the bottom of the page for a list of Associated Spacecraft and engines: http://www.astronautix.com/props/nitdudmh.htm And here: http://www.astronautix.com/props/nitamine.htm

It does almost sounds like mini Big Bangs going on.

They do a good job with the 2 to 3 day forecasts, but those 5 to 7 day forecasts, that are seen a lot in the US at least, are nonsense. I watched an interview with some scientists, I think from NOAA, that said that news stations put out those week long forecast because they are popular with the public. As lajoswinkler mentioned topography makes a big difference too. I spent some time in the middle US states near the coast where they have no mountains. The weather there blows in very quickly and dramatically. At noon in Texas you can have clear skies and 44C and 6 hours later you have high winds, storm clouds and 24C.

Project - sending a Jeb figurine into stratosphere
Tommygun replied to lajoswinkler's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Those poor tortured bonsai trees. When will humans stop inventing new ways of disfiguring them. Welding stores might be a good place to see if they carry hydrogen too. -

Some kind of electric powered Pneumatic Solenoid Valve? Something you could trigger by timer and/or altimeter. Control the deflation by having a very small opening tube? -

I used industrial grade helium at a previous employer and was told that our supplier would not sell it to the general public. Breathing pure helium can be very lethal. -

Can you buy industrial grade helium in your area without a permit? From what I understand the helium sold to the general public can have up to 20 percent oxygen added to it. This is to help prevent suffocation from people trying to breathe it in. -
Version 0.24 with it's 64 bit was bond to cause many many problems and it is probably the biggest change the game has gone through in one update. Both my modded 32 and 64 bit games are unplayable right now, so I'll wait a week or two and try again. Many of the bugs(more likely compatibility issues with mods) are just unknown until you release it to the general public.

I have been using it all day without any problems. -
It's just like an old fashioned Chicago style election....."Vote early and vote often".

Next Nation that will walk on the moon?
Tommygun replied to piggysanTH's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Can Russia really afford it right now. Well I guess it depends on how fast they want to pull it off. Ten years versus twenty. -
Next Nation that will walk on the moon?

I think China is the only country that has the desire and the spare cash right now. -
Rosetta, Philae and Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Tommygun replied to Vicomt's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Six months, that surprising. I don't think NASA does that? Do any of the other space agency do this? -
I wonder if that Kerbal Joint Reinforcement mod could reduce that problem with it's Physics Easing? Edit: Just saw the new video (Next Page). Building it on the pylon as a work bench might help keep it from floating away or exploding.

Video of a Boeing 787 performing acrobatic stunts
Tommygun replied to Tommygun's topic in The Lounge
Yes Johnston did it at least twice. I watched an empty C-5 Galaxy at an airshow once fly around like a Jet fighter. They have a lot of surplus power without cargo or screaming passengers. -
I came across this video of a Boeing 787 performing acrobatic stunts and thought it was interesting. You rarely see them moving like this for obvious reasons. Its practicing for the Farnborough Airshow. I was thinking there might be a few plane watchers here that may find this fun to watch too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIv1ke_A4A4

That will make getting this to the surface so much easier.

I think they supply the metal cubesat frame? The rest is built and supplied by the buyers.
-
The main advantage of it being procedurally generated is that you never run out of contracts. I rather have new oddly worded contracts than the same ones repeated over and over.

Yes, a KAS box would go well with this. Just give it a different part config and slightly modded texture.

Kerbal 2- Phobos Mission (Future Cubesat feasability study)
Tommygun replied to Rakaydos's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter had no heat shield when it did it's aerobraking. It repeatedly dipped into Mar's atmosphere over six months and went from a 35 hour elliptical orbit around Mars to a two hour nearly circular orbit. Well it must have used some fuel for the Mars capture. -
Well if you eventually put it up on Kickstarter, the funding level achieved could determine the mission? But there are still a lot of things to sort through first.

I could see something like Project Longshot being seriously planned in 100 years. Going to the Centauri system, will be the closest to interstellar travel we will see for a long time. There are about six stars within six light years of us. "If" they can make engines work for 100 to 150 years then they may have a chance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Longshot
