Oh I forgot about cool down. OK a rogue planet captured from an older smaller star during the blue giant's formation. Yes, I have too much free time on my hands this weekend.

Cassini vs Curiosity - which is worth saving?
Tommygun replied to czokletmuss's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yes and the shuttle for that matter. Just too expensive for launching humans when lighter vehicles can do it. -
Well then how about a frozen ice world far away from the star with a thick dark ozone atmosphere. I think it would have to be a big enough planet to have vulcanism to replace the atmosphere and a strong magnetosphere to help keep it. Maybe a relatively warmer titan like world, but larger than Earth. If you want to add some SciFi elements to it, have very slow moving giant ice worms tunneling under the ice. Then have a whole ecosystem based around these ice tunnels like the under water black smokers in the oceans or cave systems. The colonist could even use these tunnels for building their settlements in and transportation.

I don't think they are as blue as that picture would suggest. Our sun is a yellow type star and it appears bright white to the eyes except at sunset and that has more to do with pollution. A blue Giant might appear as white with just a very small hint of very light blue to the eyes, well just before your retinas burnout at least.

Direct Air Cycle nuclear jet engines, oh the 1950's where such a fun time for nuclear physics. The whole future seemed bright and glowy.

You have a great looking ship there StarVision.

Cassini vs Curiosity - which is worth saving?

I think they could get by with a manned rated Delta or Atlas. -
They do have higher solar winds too, which I would think would tend to strip off any atmosphere faster. So maybe this type of world should have a thinner atmosphere than Earth?

I thought those blue super giants had very short life spans of hundreds of millions of years? If so I don't think they would have any native life, but maybe a terraformed colonized world. I would also wonder how bad solar storms are around them.

Well even with the Vista engine it still took me 8 years to reach Joker. Now I know why it's so serious. I was happy to see there are more anomalies in the game now too. Edit: Just realized Serious could use a Wayne's world to help fill out the system.

Frizzank, I like the textures on the fairings. The panel lines are simple, but they add a lot to their visual interest. I wonder if the fairings could be used to recreate the Angry Alligator? I noticed the 3.0 version of the mod is missing the Mercury Redstone craft file.

LLL - Lack Luster Labs - Development Thread
Tommygun replied to Lack's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I don't know if this is a known issue or not, but if you load Kerbals into any of the new rovers in the SPH, you get a message that the doors are block when you try to get them out. Just wanted to let you know. -
Alternative oxidizers for combustion engines
Tommygun replied to LethalDose's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It probably would be even simpler to go with a propeller that's power by a simple high efficiency piston engine or electric motor. -
Send a PM to Snjo and ask him if you could use a modification of his code.

Are the little ones in the middle the ones that return to orbit? -
[0.23.5]General Propulsionâ„¢ SOLD
Tommygun replied to Galacticruler's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It would be nice if the two middle size ones could be made amphibious, but I realize that might require too much coding. -

I personally like that they are slower. There are a number of fast stock and mod wheels for going fast. Tracks should have their own unique uses and properties. Like high crash/impact tolerances for supporting heavy vehicles, but move slowly. -

LLL - Lack Luster Labs - Development Thread
Tommygun replied to Lack's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Hi Lack, I'm working with the 4x4 fuel tanks and noticed one of the nodes is off on the smaller 4x4 tank. I've never edited nodes before so I'm unsure how to change it? Thanks. Logan:Guppy Eagle -
