  1. Tail gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I can die like a real pilot while landing instead of on takeoff.
  2. Well one of the criteria for selecting astronauts is their problem solving abilities.........
  3. OK, I was thinking with Charon's size being relatively large to Puto's to the point it forms a binary system, that it might cause same cryo-volcanism along with the solar based ones. I was wondering or hoping that when the atmosphere finally freezes out that tidal forces would continue to make eruptions. I'm assuming we don't know how far out the Sun can cause solar based geysers yet.
  4. Well just made a "test" run to Stella after a 233 year trip with a Vista engine from KSP Interstellar. It turns out that the KSP Interstellar mod isn't well suited for interstellar travel at this time. Maybe one of the forks can fix this. It needs rebalancing and high warp doesn't work with the heat dissipation. All my liquid Deuterium and tritium boiled off after a few years, except what was inside the engine part and that was probably just an oversight of the program. Also solar panels don't work with Stella, but fortunately I placed a lot of RTG on my ship. If you are using RTG decay you might need a ship that looks like a nuclear porcupine? Oh, It took about an hour in real time to do the first burn for the Stella intercept with a TWR of 0.11, have fun. So, I'm looking at Porkjet's nuclear lightbulb or Angel-125's Supernova fusion engines for better performance: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/104855-0-90-Atomic-Age-Nuclear-Rockets http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/87070-WIP-0-90-Nuclear-Engines
  5. Would Charon's interaction alone with Pluto be enough to cause cryo-geysers?
  6. You can get a bunch of science done just driving around and near the KSP launch facilities. Maybe someone can confirm this, but I think each building area is a separate biome?
  7. KSP for me is the best game I have played in a very long time. I play it a few times a week for the last three and a half years. A really big part of it for me are the mods. If it gets to the point that the game can only be reliably played as stock, I think I'd slowly lose interest. Unity 5 has supposedly been coming out soon for quite a while now and there is no guarantee the 64 bit version will be anymore stable. Squad has to finish their game and that will take resources away from mods that need it too, but there isn't much that can change this. They can clean up code and memory leaks, but that only goes so far. Hopefully there will still be room for a decent number of mods or the Holly Grail of 64 bit Unity 5 come true.
  8. I have two old favorites: Ascendancy, with was a nice balance between fun and complexity. I think it got a mobile app not too long ago? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascendancy_%28video_game%29 I liked OutPost more, even though it was released about half finished. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outpost_%28video_game%29
  9. Well in the original question, can you argue that you are not so much saving life as deciding which will die. If you do nothing, then events unfold due to bad planning and safety procedures. If you pull the lever, then you truly become part of the event. Some might argue that they don't have a right to decide which people die. This scenario is very different than saving one person's life or not. Someone is going to die ether way.
  10. Governments can, but can the general public in civil court. They do have good samaritan laws that offer some legal protection to people that try to help. I guess it's called "Duty to rescue" in tort law, but that's a whole new thread and it will derail this one.
  11. I wonder if you can be sued for not doing anything? It wouldn't stop a lawyer from trying in civil court, but would it get thrown out.
  12. I'd Pull the lever and then wait for the wrongful death lawsuit from the family of the killed worker.
  13. It should still work, although if you go on holiday and come back with a beard and even put on a little holiday weight you might run into problems with some systems. Some scanners combine facial recognition with weight scales.
  14. Hopefully they will add more than one multi purpose display in there for backup in the flight ready version.
  15. So can you use this with KAS to make a space elevator?
  16. I wonder if it would be better to give people physical keys like a flashcard with a heavily encrypted pass code, maybe something that automatically changes each time you use it. Something with half the code on the key and the other half on a central computer. A person would need to steal both halves to break the encryption. The person using it only needs to memorize a seven digit alphanumeric code to use the key, so not any longer than a phone number. Then issue out a new one every six to twelve months. I get a new insurance card every six months. Nothing is foolproof, but it might be easier to get new keys and passwords than a high end biometrics system.
  17. MartGonzo has a good point, you can't change your biometrics information if it's stole like a password and they will eventually find a way to fake it. I can see facial biometrics being useful for automatically configuring personal user settings on things like desktops by just setting in front of it, but I don't think it's worth the lose of personal freedom. I could be wrong, but at some point I think there will be a backlash about privacy issues.
  18. Yes, it used to be that fusion technology was 50 years away for the last 50 years. Maybe now it's 10 years away for the last 40. by the time I die, I'm hoping it will be 5 years away for the last 20. The constant march of technology, We live in exciting times people!
  19. I just meant the regular unmanned cores. Are you using any mods to move crew around your ship? I'm using Ship Manifest (version 0.90.0_3.3.4) to move my crew around. It's not the most recent version, but it's working. Maybe try adding or removing a mod like Ship's Manifest?
  20. I'm using it in 0.90 without this issue. Well assuming it's not a bug, some of the things you need to have are: Enough power to freeze/defrost(check position of solar panels to sun); have enough Glykerol fluid; there is only room for one conscious Kerbal in the freezing module at a time; do you have a robotic probe core as well as a manned one. Well that's all I can think of right now.
  21. Here are few nice pictures of the impact craters the S-IVBs made on the Moon. It also has good shots of the LEM landing sites with all their gear set up around it. At least one has rover tracks visible. http://www.collectspace.com/ubb/Forum33/HTML/000461-2.html
  22. Retro Future Mod? http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/84054-v0-90-v-25-Transparent-Pods-v1-2-2-for-KSP-v0-90
