Hi all! This is my first KSP part that I intend to release. It is a simple structural part that I decided to make after discovering that a really cool rover I made had 74 parts!! Having a coal fired PC, this was no good, so I decided to do something about it. I had no idea what size a Kerbal was when sitting down, so the Mk1 is very much a test piece. I made many mistakes with this model, it can be a bit fiddly to use, but the Mk2 will be much better. I have included a spaceport link for the part for anyone who wants to try it out. The download has 4 RollKages in different colours, but the model is the same for each one. As this model will be changing, I didn't spend time doing fancy texturing. This is brilliant. Exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you Scoops for gas samples from the sun/jool? Just a thought. Could be converted to make fuel also! Mun rock could be mixed with an onboard tank of resin to make flat even landing pads on the Mun! this addon has massive potential. Do the samples add mass? Some rock types could be insanely heavy:)

Did you know that there are "easter eggs" on the planets to discover? There are places to find even on the home planet! I am told there is an asteroid to find too, but I have yet to find it. I know where it is, but I just can't catch it..

It is not the fanboys place to give people on the forums a 'scolding'. It is not the fanboys place to tell people where they should post. The forum has moderators. These are the things that THEY do. Thankfully more people are telling the fanboys where to get off. Not before time.

Yes, they would. The solids do the job well though, its kind of fire and forget, it will not hit the rover.

When the rover touches down, the cable releases and the solid boosters ignite to carry the skycrane out of the way.

Thank You! I'm not sure about kid friendly though...its a bit fiddly doing all these things and took many rehearsals. If you are going to make something like this, Build the skycrane as your primary structure. Building the rover first causes some mechjeb problems (the rover will not drive properly). Good Luck! Wheels lowered using Damned Robotics mod Using Mechjeb to fly the skycrane... ...while I lower the rover using Kerbal Attachment System mod Safely on Duna exploring with the Romfarer Camera mod My take on the best real rover delivery ever. Uses Mechjeb, Damned Robotics, KSPX, Fairing Factory, Romfarer Cam, KAS, stock parts and a few bits I had to make myself. It worked really well in 0.19, untested in 0.20. Sorry if I have left any mods used out. ( and sorry about all the images, its a complicated model to show - I would make a video if my PC wasn't coal fired and could handle it.)

Never tried rocketry, but I have to say, it does look fun (plenty of stuff on youtube). I also thought it would be a bit expensive when you added stuff like GPS for recovery, altimeters etc.. Have you taken any onboard footage Artao? Show us some photos of your designs!! Suggestion: Make a real rocket painted KSP style! (I would be interested in photos of any small cheap designs you might have, suitable for kids)

If you don't mind a bit of automation, I would suggest trying out the new mechjeb. I have been using it to fly my Duna rovers skycrane while I fiddle about lowering the rover to the ground. Works a treat.
