[AAR] The Grand Tour - Voyage To The Planets
TicTacToe! replied to czokletmuss's topic in KSP Fan Works
Dude, that was intense. I think Jeb's hallucinating, when he thinks Ned says: "Don't worry about me, old friend." Those are the exact words said by Bob to Jeb before he cooked himself on Eve, I definitely remember it from the Eve chapters, and I just checked. Oh, and Insertion Burn, so they don't get grilled in an aero brake and they'll be on their way home if it fails. -
I try to do everything possible BEFORE actually landing on the planet/moon. Impactors, orbits, mapping, and then slowly build up the complexity until I'm landing bases and huge lab-rovers. If you go and kill all the complexity of different missions all in one, that's what saps the fun, IMHO.

First off Nova, great work! Love the warmer colouring, been following your development thread from the get go, and love what you've done in the plug-in. Have you got any further visual changes or physical changes you're thinking of making to the unchanged bodies aside from what's on the "Planned" list? Maybe this mod could even evolve into adding planets to get the Kerbol system to the vision you had when you were still on the dev team. Now that would be, if I remember your plans correctly, awesome.

How important is a resource system to you?
TicTacToe! replied to SlinkyBlue's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've got to agree with a lot of other posters in this thread, I too don't like the decision. In my opinion it's made all the worse because resources have been "replaced" as a focus with multiplayer, and to be honest I think at it it's core, KSP just isn't a multiplayer game (apples and oranges I know, but the same reason I don't like the idea of Elder Scrolls Online, or if they ever made a multiplayer Just Cause). I just don't think it'll work. Whilst we've all known SQUAD as the dev's that can, in nearly all instances I've seen companies have had to sacrifice precious time that could be spent on gameplay on multiplayer, ruining what would've been a fantastic singleplayer game. Also, whilst I agree that it is definitely beneficial to ease the learning curve into a game like KSP, so it can also kind of be used as an educational tool as well as a game, there is only so much you can do. Resources are endgame, at least for me, but it gives something to work to, another potential idea. Whilst KSP has definitely snowballed in popularity over the last year or so, the reason I think it stood out before is because it offered a challenge. I've always been interested in space, (so hoping for a course in aerospace engineering at Uni) so when I saw kurtjmac playing this space game on YouTube, before the maneuver node system, before docking, it was a challenge. I saw threads of great achievements on here, I remember when Temstar took on Duna and Ike double landing with the primitive docking mods at hand. My point is, KSP is an orbital simulation game, for those who are unfamiliar to the concept, it's going to be hard. Now that they've been shelved, I think SQUAD may have dropped themselves in it, because that would offer something else to do on the planets we land on. Now, I see nothing new for exploration. Land, click, science. I think that's also why these planet resizes, reshuffles and changes we see in various mods are so popular, the game's just getting stale for me. -
Scaling against other parts
TicTacToe! replied to TicTacToe!'s topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
Many thanks, looks perfect!! -
Hi guys, from what I've read around the place, ideally you want to get your model set and don't make any further changes to it before you start texturing it and unwrapping it, because if you do change the geometry, your unwrap won't match the new model. To make sure I don't have to go back and forth an waste time, I was wondering if I could import models of stock parts into Blender, no textures required, purely to get a sense of scale. I'm aware of how Blender units match up to KSP units, and I think I've got the width of my model pretty much sorted. (I'm making a simple fuel tank for my first part, and I've looked up radius sizes thanks to hoojiwana's awesome compilation of modding links). So my question is, is it possible, or is there another way to assess the scale of my parts against the stock ones?

Planing on a new Blender Tutorial.
TicTacToe! replied to Technical Ben's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
Don't know if this counts as a necro-post, and apologies it it does, but I'll add a +1 to the requests of a start-to-finish walk through for a really simple part. If not the OP, anyone, would be a real great help, and myself as well as many other members would appreciate it. -
Nova, thou art a magician. Love the colours you're going for, any other plans cooking up?

Good shout. Once this finds them, we will be overpowered with experiments. *Retreats to evil lair* Send the messengers! -
Krag's Planet Factory Pre-release Thread

Set to Ludicrous Speed! This is going to be pretty awesome. -
As far as the poll goes, ice giants. Love how smooth Uranus looks (insert crude comment here). But I'd prefer things that aren't included in the poll. A planet even closer to the Sun than Moho would be awesome, a truly hellish world, and whilst they aren't planets I'd love lots of random asteroids thrown about the place that don't have "gravity" per se, but you just rendezvous with them and float by them, there's no (or very little, like ultimately tiny) gravity simulated.

[Plugin] [0.22] [WIP] Foundations - UPDATE: ALPHA RELEASE 0.2
TicTacToe! replied to Sparkle's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Very cool idea, this'll make a lot of construction techniques more effective if you pull it off, watching very closely. -
Really can't decide between 0.17 and 0.18. On the other hand though, back when persistence was added... that was huge.

RLA Stockalike Near Future Propulsion Pack Debating on whether to download KSPX and KAS. Not really sure whether I need KSPX with the other two part packs. I'm pretty pedantic when it comes to mods, they have to look like the stock parts. So as good as it is, no b9 for me.

The funniest text you encountered in KSP
TicTacToe! replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Some of the science texts are great but I don't think you can beat a certain part of the part description of the good old RT-10 SRB: "The RT-10 is used in many space programs, whenever the need to save cash is greater than the need to keep astronauts alive." -
Have any of you guys seen that pre-alpha stage game Seed of Andromeda?? Huge voxel planets, and whilst I have no idea of numbers it looked pretty damn big... I also think Damion Rayne is somehow affiliated with that project
-
Good to see Krag's still working the magic. Screenshots look very promising. Can you give us an ideas on what kind of planets and how many have been done?
-
Haha, past tense?? I too had one actually, good ol' Melson.

Possibly the worst decision the devs have ever made so far.
TicTacToe! replied to BeefTenderloin's topic in The Lounge
Fond memories of Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts come to mind. In all seriousness, I don't think that Comic Sans looks good in that science capsule at all.
