  1. Even though it doesn't apply to me, I would put down a lot more money for an expansion pack for KSP than I think I would for almost any other game. Pretty much all of the ideas mentioned for expansion packs (e.g bases, colonization and more solar systems) would add a ton of replay value to the game, and wouldn't be like so many other expansion packs where it is a one-run-through kind of thing. I think that makes them worth a good amount more.
  2. I actually agree with a good chunk of what the OP is saying. By no means are we going to have a picture-perfect-runs-fine-on-a-plugged-in-toaster game in alpha, but there are still steps that could be taken to improve it. A poster above said that as each version comes out the FPS goes down and down, and whilst the complexity is increasing, with some updates the changes are quite a step. Also, as a question, as I am completely incompetent on the issue: Will Unity ever become more than single-threaded? Because if it won't, in KSP's forecasted development period, isn't it worth thinking of a switch or fix now? Or we'll be restrained forever.
  3. I remember first seeing those pictures in a dev-stream, and gawking instantly, even in that early iteration, they looked fabulous. I think that Squad is going to firmly rooted in developing Career mode until it is done from now on, and then overhaul the aerodynamics system (along with art passes on all the spaceplane parts) when Career mode's infrastructure is basically completed. Then I think that will be the time for heavy optimization, allowing far more celestials to be added to the game, along with the discovery mechanic. That's just me speculating however, don't quote anything, just seems the logical way to do things IMO. I don't think we'll be seeing resources for a good-long time, and they'll probably fit in tweakables with one of the coming updates. This brings me to another point, after Career mode is finished, which will only take a few updates (I sincerely hope), isn't the game feature complete? Are our glorious alpha days coming to an end? Harv himself said that resources and colonization were slightly out of scope, once Sandbox and Career are both finished it seems like the game would only need polish and small additions...
  4. Although it is a great game now, there is still so much more that can be added to the game, so I would be disappointed, but would keep playing.
  5. I think I'm going to wait for KSPX to update, so I've got all the parts I need, then I'm going to keep to a semi-real space program that loosely follows our real world advances. I've made an awesome Luna 16 replica with the KSPX cylindrical fuel tanks, just waiting for 0.21 to fly it
  6. It's ironic actually, I got really hyped for the big Kerbolar system expansion, and I've planned countless missions, and built countless planetary landers and motherships, and yet I've never once had the guts to pull the plug and do an interplanetary return mission. In fact, the only thing I've done that's left Kerbin's SOI was an atmospheric research probe that I dropped into Jool. 0.21, it's gotta be my time.
  7. Haha, I've always had a fluctuating quality to my predictions, but I believe that it's coming soon. The devs have managed to cram quite a lot of stuff into this update, thanks to the save breaking decision. I just want that new ASAS! Hopefully now they've laid out a couple of the vital foundations to the career system, future updates will have more physical content like parts, which we all love... but I'm getting off topic
  8. I'd probably say I've played KSP consistently for quite a while now, enough to rival other games, but for sheer playing hours, it would come mid-table, after Team Fortress 2, Halo: Combat Evolved (I worship the game), and Sonic Heroes on the original Xbox. Sonic Heroes was the game of my youth. And Skyrim is just amazing. They're in no particular order, I just know that I've racked up many an hour on those, and SPORE, which is one of the best games I have ever played. I can see KSP getting to that level though, it is one of those rare games when you really only are limited by your imagination.
  9. Great thread, great sayings.
  10. Great work on the new planets, Nova! The names seem original, yet still quite Kerbal-ish It's going to be fun *attempting* to land on these, especially with whatever new parts we can get our hands on! I'm hoping that we get a more efficient, exo-atmosphere engine, so that it becomes slightly easier for me and other less-than-knowledgeable players to get to these new destinations. Anyway, I reiterate, great work on the planets, the devs really seem to be going hell for leather on this update, even though Harv said it was a "small" one. Fantastic work guys
