At least a windmill in place of that spire that toppled?

I'm actually amazed they can keep any core upright in ocean waves. There are plenty of videos out there showing what the storm at an open ocean looks like. Quite rough. Kraken needs to be fed.

Quite a lot of scaffolding around it. The source of fire possibly coming from the jobsite?

OI! Guys, no spoilers. I'm waiting for the GRRM to write the damned novels already and would appreciate to not have them spoiled. I realize TV series and the novels have started to diverge, but still... You wouldn't believe how difficult it's to avoid GOT spoilers these days. Even the mainstream media is in on it. Sometimes I read half of a title in a newspaper (or in this case forum post) before realizing it's GOT related. BTW, power went out halfway through me writing this post, so I'm extra grumpy. It only lasted 10 or so seconds, but enough to make me write most of this post twice. Submit before it goes out again.

Thankfully, in most cases, one side of that distribution fades into oblivion, while the other one makes a lasting impact.

Assuming the availability of Star Trek type replicators that can produce any food your heart may desire out of thin air, obviously without harm to any plant or animal, would steak be a vegan friendly option?

Real Life KSP: Beresheet Lunar Mission Video

Attitude sensor installed upside down? -
That does suck. I'm also in the process of being terrorized by a few of those. Not inside, but just outside of my work. They even made a nest and the other day a few of the tiny ones emerged from their eggs. Now they are producing annoying sounds. The nest is high up on top of an AC unit in a hard to reach spot and I don't feel like climbing all the way there and possibly dealing with angry parents. Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to, I can't offer any help with your predicament, apart from asking you if you gave them an eviction notice? If you have, it's their fault if they ignore it and get raptored.

Well then, allow me to complain about your decision here. A member posts about their actual real life problems, which are not trivial and may considerably affect their life and you are more concerned whether a forum thread is getting off topic, instead of wellbeing of an individual. Please reevaluate your actions.

Factorio - although it satisfies "tech tree and survival" criteria, it's about neither of those ARK - Survival Evolved - Run with dinosaurs, sometimes after them, often away from them.

Why only six flags? Why not eight? Or eleven? Eleven is a fun number. -

I'll stand in line. I like Linda, I also don't mind Lena Headey in Chronicles. Linda's performance in T1 was not special, but she made up for it in 2. Lena is consistently good. Arnie is getting old, though, especially since he's supposed to be a robot and all. CGI to the rescue, I suppose? -
Uh, no. Steam is not hot air. It is just water, and the point of it being use as a lifting gas is exactly the opposite of "having to vaporize a lot of water". You actually need very little of water to fill up a big balloon. There is no air (nitrogen and oxygen gas) in steam. Clouds are also not steam. They are liquid water droplets in suspended air.

Unfortunately, the math says it's not going to work. This guy explains why even helium is a poor lifting gas.

This is one of the best explanations of evolution I've ever seen. -

Fascinating and, for some reason, very sad. Grim Reaper had a very busy few hours. Very interesting find. I'm curious how it will impact the future of giant impact hypothesis. -
Doesn't include any of the expensive bits like coms, attitude control, power management etc. It's basically a perfboard in a box. Oh, it does have an RTC, which you can buy on fleabay for less than $1, shipped. You know it's a gimmick when a lanyard is part of the packaging.

Earth was almost flat disc - new Moon theory
Shpaget replied to Cassel's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Generally speaking, I find low probability of something happening to be entirely irrelevant and a poor argument, when speaking about the sample size of 1, as is the case with the only planet we know of that has life on it. I believe that we can all accept that the relatively large moon (such as Moon) was a significant factor in evolution of life on Earth, hence the presence of Moon should not be surprising. With billions of galaxies, each with billions of stars in it, (and likely) each with numerous planets it's not surprising that something unlikely happened, but the fact that it's a low chances for it happened on the planet that we just happen to be is not important, since we are on this planet because we have such a big moon. Anyway, anybody feel like throwing some numbers on the paper to calculate how much would the Earth's spin change if the entire momentum of the Moon was converted to the rotation of the Earth? -
Well, it sure looks nice!

So how does it slow down to the rate we observe today? Earth's spin is very from the tipping point the lady mentions. -
World Of Tanks, World Of Warships, War Thunder.... Etc.
Shpaget replied to Kerbinchaser's topic in The Lounge
I'm playing (very occasionally) WoT, not War Thunder. In WoT, ISU is a very decent tier 8, ltw is 9 (used to be 8), my reload is about 12 seconds. The guy in question was working a ridge, and I suppose, since he didn't receive any damage, didn't realize what was shooting at him (it has 1300 HP, for 750 average alpha on ISU). -

Shpaget replied to Kerbinchaser's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, but what do you say when you bounce three consecutive shots off of a T-54 - ltw, when shooting from the 152 mm monstrosity that is BL-10 (a gun that some ships would not mind carrying)? Well, I should know better, BL-10 used to troll the shooter at least as much as the target. I kind of miss having it on ISU. -
Of the shelf frame, battery, solar panels, attitude and coms systems alone will run you into tens of thousands of $. And what do you do for the science pack? With a shoestring budget, anything that has been done is not worth doing again, and those things that haven't been done before will require custom hardware, and even if the "crowd" can build it themselves, it's not going to be cheap. Does the budget allow for any compensation to the people actually building it and spending thousands of hours on it? There aren't many individuals who can afford to stop going to work so they can dedicate their time to a project like this, even if being paid for it, let alone if it's a "for fame and exposure" type of deal.
