1. I believe the definition of a cleared orbit is that the mass of all objects intersecting the orbit of the discussed body has to be significantly less then the discussed body. For example, the Moon is by far the largest object intersecting the earths path, but is only about 1.2% that of earth. Charon on the other hand is more than 12% the mass of Pluto, and we havent even discussed other objects intersecting Pluto's path. That is why it failed to be recognized as a planet. Its the exact same story for Ceres. So if Pluto gets made a planet, then there is no reason not to do the same with Ceres, and then Pluto will never be number 9.
 2. well, as an American living in Europe, I just filled out my old address. You're important to me.
 3. My ex girlfriend was named Miranda... xD btw, pluto isnt a planet mainly because of Charon, and I was calling for the utter destruction of Pluto, not a merger.
 4. but should we rename Charon to something else or (what I think is a better idea) crash the two together. Then there is no more discussion of whether or not Pluto is a planet.
 5. pluto is a binary system... So what about Charon?
 6. Its an ice planet, like Eeloo. Thats why it should be named so and why I created a petition to have it named so here: http://wh.gov/iwz9K
 7. Kunok, those are the old the old ways. We are on the cusps of a new age of adventure and discovery. And someone in ancient Rome probably said Eeloo once, so good enough?
 8. By popular demand I have made a petition to have the recently proposed planet (commonly referred to as Planet X or Planet 9 (although I prefer Planet No. 9 because it seems like it would smell nice)) referred to in all official US government documents as Eeloo and legislation be passed to make it law. Will you sign your name and ride this to the moon? http://wh.gov/iwz9K
 9. Hey, I really like doing science in KSP. But something I am slightly annoyed by is that you can do all the science, collect it, and hope to the next location. It really gives you no incentive to remain on the surface of a place. What I think would be a cool mod is if you have to give the science experiments time to complete. And if you spend less time conducting the experiment, you'll get less science. Also, it would also be nice if during the experiments electricity was consumed. And if you run out of charge, you have to redo all the science that wasnt logged and saved. An example: Goo Canister Time to complete: 1.5 hours Spent time: 1.4 hours Received science: 93% Another example: 2hot thermometer Time to complete: 30 minutes Spent time: 15 minutes Received science: 50% And again: Crew Report Time to complete: 2 hours Spent time: 3 hours Received Science: 100% What I want from this mod, if someone is kind enough to make it, is to have more realistic missions, that are harder and need much more consideration and diligence. Hope I can inspire someone to make something like it. I would if I could (and even had time to do so). Leave a comment below if you would also want this.
 10. Ahh, you arent the only one who has seen that xD But you forgot 2000 and the NT series, but since they were meant for buisness purposes the would be by default crap. Cant have your employees use something easy, right?
 11. I hope that this mod gets picked up again. Things that would be nice: - price of parts be revamped or based on something else, because the parts as they are now are out of proportion. - Sell science for cash - Buy science with cash - Recieve random contracts to put sats in orbit around Kerbin. - contracts should have mission specifications, like geostationary with visual at a certain longitude - Monthly wage, that you get money from the government every few days. - the amount of cash should diminish over time, but you should be able to hire lobbyist to raise the funding. - Also major achievements should be awarded, like first kerbal on the Mün or a rover to one of Jools moons
 12. lol, and that when I just got rid of mods. I've since exported my gamedata to a new ksp folder. I also got rid of things like protractor and part organizer. Works fine. If anything else comes up and I can locate a portian of the problem to toolbar, I will let you know. Wish I knew a bit more, but I am not very good software wise (but I am trying to learn, it is just hard without someone next to me to explain stuff)
 13. allrighty then. After that last crash I cant play KSP anymore. It will load the game. But when it goes to the main menu, the screen remains balck with the loading icon in the lower right hand corner and then the game crashes. Guess I cant help anymore. I will put the log files online if you want to read them. Thanks for all the help anyways. first crash crashes after that
 14. Hey, thanks for all the help I am getting! One by one: The mission ending bug was when I was deploying four Comsats. The deployment of them went fine. It was when I had deployed all of them, I wanted to disconect the capsual and return it on RCS. On this capsual was the one man pod (cant remember its name), 1.25m heatshield, 2x 1.25m decouplers, 1 rcs tank, 4 rcs thrusters and a parachute. It then started osscilating wildly. I tried to get it under control but it didnt work. The bottom half that should have detached but it didnt. I quickloaded and tried it again, and again it happend. This time I put on the RCS and it was able to stabalize pointing away from Kerbin. Odd thing, I made one orbit and it always pointed away from kerbin (by away I mean up). I was able te deorbit by rcs'ing to the side. with timewarp I lost the bottom half in a major explosion. I only had the capsual, parachute, heat shield and a decoupler left. The decoupler was stuck and wouldnt come off. When I tried to decouple the heat shield it also stuck. I couldnt stage to my parachute so I had to arm it manually. Eventually I splashed down and Jeb survived. This whole time I was getting about 5 to 10 fps. For comparison, I flew a ship with 550 parts and I still got about 25fps and now I had 4. When I time warped the sound would glitch out and sound like it was exploding. Looking in my gamedata, I noticed that Engineer wasnt packaged correctly. It isnt in its own folder. Going to try and fix that. About KAC, it is in there, but when I got a fresh update I forgot to take it out of its containment file. I just fixed it and I am going to clean up some of the messyness in my files. I'll also try out with removing one by one. Hearing what you guys said I will try with Kethane, Toolbar and engineer first.
 15. Hope that this works https://www.dropbox.com/s/emxu2xbzmelgly6/0B0v7UJuQ7PjrbHhBMnowY1ZXVEE.txt
 16. Well, actually it is a high end gaming pc. Other reasons for me thinking it was the toolbar was that it was flashing, crashed repeatedly couldn't fit to the tabs. My pc should be able to handle 22 mods. Only recently did I add toolbar and before I had up to 40 mods including nova and interstellar. I will check out the file. See if I can make it public. Not very familiar how to do it because I never use google drive.
 17. Here it is. Couldnt look at it myself, everytime I wanted to open it, notebook crashed. here
 18. Hey, While playing around I experienced a mission ending bug. Poor jeb only just got out alive. I had a feeling that it was the toolbar, but I am not sure. When I did the reload with the cheat screen I saw a lot of red text when toolbar was being loaded. The rest was all white. It didnt crash so dont have a folder to share, but here are my mods. Maybe somebody else knows whats up? Boulderco: clouds, city lights + tex compres Custom Biomes Deadly Re-entry Engineer Redux Enhanced Nav Ball FAR Hullcam VDS KAS KAC Kethane KSPX KW Ltech kDex Planet Factory: with Urania pack precise node Protractor Real Chute RemoteTech2 SCAN sat Simple Part Organizer TAC Life Support Further info: Win 7 64x 16 GB RAM HDD: 724GB free KSP folder: 2.43GB Extra note: I noticed that the extra planets werent visable. Didnt see any error warnings on krags or urania though.
 19. When it was still possible to circumnavigate Kerbin, I did that. After a while I started hallucinating from the long and tedious drive, unaware of my surroundings or my place in space and time. Wasnt best for my mental health
 20. Here is another discussion (all be it a small one): In the Netherlands (and I think Belgium too) when we say ten thousand we write it as 10.000 instead of 10,000 and one euro seventy-five is written as €1,75 instead of €1.75. Any other people who get mad about this??? This I find far more confusing than the date system because I cant remember which system I need to use. But for the dates, I think YY-MM-DD is logical from a computer or file management, but I do get that MM-DD is more natural. As long as you clearly define the order, I am ok with it.
 21. Don't want to be mean, but when was the last time you had a chemistry class where they asked for an answer in the x unit scale and also gave the necessary data in the same unit scale? I usually spend a quarter of my time on test just to recalculate to another unit and double checking everything. If it was in the imperial system then I would need an entire book to remember everything. With metric you know it is a power of 10, and that is beautiful. Just like the AX paper scale, it has more real world applications than imperial. Sure there are uses for both systems, but which one is based of of something you actually need and which one isn't (hint: even most farmers aren't going to measure in barley)
 22. Also, the system of time we use isnt completly out of whack. It is based on a circle with 60 minutes is 360 degrees. You can also easily divide 60 by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30 and 60.
 23. derp... You are right. Now I feel silly, but it remains pretty much the same which is what I think is strange. and @ZetaX: I was using liters in cubic meters
 24. btw, has anybody ever noticed that mileage is a really weird unit? km/l is really 1*10^3m/1*10^-3m3 = 10^3m/10^-3m3 = 10^6m ??? unit cancellation is weird...
 25. Well, I grew up in the states and then moved to the Netherlands, so I have had the best of both worlds. Because I want to be a creature of logic metric was the way to go for me. Whenever I am in the US on vacation, I usually try not to think about measurements too much, because that is when I start to get confused. Also, as has been pointed out a few times, there are deviations between English and American measurements. Try looking up the differences between UK and US here

UK US

Fluid ounce 1 0.96075994040*

Pint 20 fl oz 19.2151988081 fl oz*

Quart 40 imp fl oz 38.4303976162 US fl oz*

Gallon 160 imp fl oz 153.721590465 US fl oz*

dram (Avoirdupois system) 1.772 g 1.772 g

ounce(Avoirdupois system) 28.35 g 28.35 g

pound(Avoirdupois system) 453.6 g 453.6 g

quarter(Avoirdupois system) 12.70 kg 11.34 kg

hundredweight(Avoirdupois system) 50.80 kg 45.36 kg

ton(Avoirdupois system) 1,016 kg (also known as long ton) 907.2 kg (also known as short ton)

pint (Apothecaries' system) 568 ml 473 ml (in US noted as 'liquid pint'

fl ounce 28.4 ml 29.6 ml

fl. dram 3.55 ml 3.70 ml

fl. scruple 1.18 ml 1.23 ml

minim 0.059 ml 0.062 ml

*: note that there are variations between normal 'fl oz' and 'food fl oz.' I could go on, but I think the point is clear. To whoever said that the imperial system is less confusing, because they don't look alike and therefore you have to remember all those prefixes, well I would advise that you check out all the measurements. It is one old cluster f*ck. Just look at feet for a second. You have the: International foot, US foot, Imperial foot and the pre-1959 foot (I kid you not.) Next to that we can also look at countries that use the foot in layman's language. That can vary anywhere from 274.1 mm to 349,2 mm. And I measured the 72 measurements they had on wikipedia. Here is a neat little test. Your foot is 314.858 mm and my foot is 287.0 mm, but both are feet are 1 foot. Where do we live? With the metric system you don't have to keep second guessing your values and converting this to that to there every 5 minutes. With the metric system, all you have to do is remember to use the right prefix. And if you are to lazy for that (and I most certainly am) you can just use x*10^y. That way you can keep the same prefix :-) I understand (as I have been there) that if it is what you are used to, you don't want to change it. But I advise most people that still use imperial to try out metric at least once in daily life. You don't want to keep converting back to imperial, just keep with the metric and then you start to notice how easy it is. There are no 76 deviations of one measurement, just 1. And it is also nice that the lengths aren't based on arbitrary numbers. That they actually have meaning (or are in the process of obtaining one) that are based in physics and chemistry, making both subjects so much easier.
