  1. When you put it that way, isn't the idea of murdering Kerbals in the name of science and getting funds seem very undull? Surely crashing into the Mun (something some probes have done intentionally so scientists can observe what gets thrown upwards) would be fun, especially if the amount of science rewarded depends on how fast you ram it. Manned Munar colliding probes would be a fun way to earn funds...
  2. You'll never see this coming.... I will make science. Yea. And that science involves "explody things", according to my (future tense) science assignment form.
  3. As per "play sport with them", can we use them as footballs? We all know as long as they land on their heads they are completely fine.
  4. Someone needs to gather all these amazing things into a parts pack.
  5. Darn cool. You, sir, are going to go down in history for the first-ever NON-OP warp drive.
  6. I imagine reworking Kerbol's config to have a limited SOI might work. That is, if Kerbol even HAS a config file anything like those of the other planets, then duplicating Kerbol, changing it's textures and placing it elsewhere. Not that adding planets MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE due to the fact that all planets/moons in KSP are on rails, so you pretty much plugin orbital info and that's how it all works. In theory, if you classified your Sun as a planet, you could add moons to it, and it would function JUST LIKE a REAL solar system, but I don't know if the engine at this point supports planetary satellites having satellites that are't player entities So, long story short: could it be done? yes, if my hypothetical mindset on KSP's physics engine is correct. Would it be perfect?: No.
  7. According to Wikipedia, we're still in early Alpha, as Beta, according to them, is when all the remaining bugs get ironed out and last touches/features added. Seeing as how these last few updates have been quite major, I think we are definitely still within Alpha, seeing as how Resources and Career Mode and YOU-KNOW-WHAT(multiplayer) have yet to be added, not to mention several other things.
  8. Can't wait to hear some of your ideas! Welcome aboard!
  9. Welcome! If you have any questions (even really simple ones!) feel free to ask me! Good to hear you're already off the pad!

    Hi there

Welcome aboard, always great to have more people looking in the mod releases! That area seems a bit underpopulated since the Spaceport came out.
  11. Instead of asking this, ask how exactly we can find out what made it if time didn't exist before it was made.
  12. I've been doing some looking at real-world research, and space is actually quite organized (at least with the latest vessels...) What I want to know is why nobody has come up with a committee to standardize this kind of stuff in the Kerbal universe. After all, what good is Multiplayer without an order for orbits as collisions will become inevitable, so an orbital chart server operators could drag and drop onto their rules page? Thus, in preparation for not only hardcore-realism series that will no doubt arise as well as multiplayer, which is still far off (from what we know), a set of "standard" orbits everyone should follow should be proposed, and stickied in challenges or something along the lines of that. I propose this: 70-75km: LKO, for GPS satellites and similar, as well as SSTOs and other vessels. This would be the typical orbit at which launch stages are detached. 80-90km: Non-Geosync orbit for satellites, must be capable of self-deorbiting. 100-125km: Standard orbit for Stations, Drydocks, and vessels Geosync/stationary: (2 868.75) km: orbit for things such as Satellite TV broadcast equipment, as well as other research vessels. 30000-35000 km: Graveyard orbit (why? very little dV needed for old satellites to get to it) ---------------- Something along the lines of this might be useful, I imagine. Any ideas?
  13. Haven't been there yet lol. I did make a 6-ton ship carrying 4 kerbals, a rover, 2 satellites, and a lander. 6 tons total. It's mostly Xenon. It turns out I had something like twice the dV I needed to get to Laythe, which was the objective for the challenge. It would have worked well if 1. there were seats, as you can't quicksave on ladders and 2. I had the time to control that thing for it's 8+ hour burn, because Mechjeb had it's own category.
  14. There's a forum I sometimes visit with a user called ThatGUI, which is a quite original name if you ask me.
  15. Yes, but I see the brainpower here as something of a waste. Cool things like cloning, morality and economics are pretty much banned, and I have seen other places where such things are discussed with no rages/whatever the managers of this forum might fear. I think some experimental topics ought to exist.
  16. Note that if you're cutting back, you should install Ubuntu alongside Windows. It's faster, as it is "lighter" (processor-usage wise) and thus could run some programs about 20-25% faster than Win7, as I've seen with Minecraft on my netbook.
  17. Those long-term mission spacecraft really need some ion thrusters. They'd be perfect for the task of being a temporary attitude control system.
  18. I won't be playing, but I must suggest having all the sensors being on the "robot arm"
  19. Like "mum" but with an N at the end instead. How about we have Scott Manley make a video on it? xD
  20. How about finding an open-source engine?
  21. I would have to say Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. It was my first experience in FPS gaming, not to mention the first game I played that wasn't right off the web.
  22. Banned for having 178 posts and still no rep EDIT: When did my post count get so high anyways? SECOND EDIT: DIVIDE BY 100 AND YOU GET PI
  23. How about visit all the planets with Jeb and don't EVA once. Then crash him into the VAB in a pinpoint reentry, killing him. THAT would be trolling. Especially if you record a series on it.
  24. It will have multithreading. That is all. Why? Because we can have 10k parts loaded with no lag.
  25. Well if Germany did join the space race I'm sure the US would have joined in. Remember that we did beat the USSR, so It's possible that Germany may have used similar tactics. It's really a matter of science:speed ratios. Unless you have a time machine or a holodeck, it's not going to happen. Knowing how Hitler overexpanded too quickly and lost, I can assume he would have gone for speed (the same the USSR did) and would thus have lost in the long run, while the satellite would have no doubt broadcasted political/propaganda messages instead of beeps.
