  1. While I can understand the engine balances... I feel tanks should better reflect reality. Take the toroid tank, now that is nothing more than foil and it is still heavier than the regular tanks! Of course, impact, heat, exit and re-entry tolerance of a 'foil tank' would be non-existent. I feel like if I'm going to bring a tank up for assent and then let it burn up in the atmosphere... I really want it to be light as hell. But if I want that tank to survive impacts I'd like it re-enforced and heavier. *Feels picky about trying to balance the balances.
  2. That's a great idea! Add in "K"s to make it more kerbal-like. Also, does my 2,868,750m launchClamp count as a SSTO?
  3. I haven't used an ASAS module in ages now... what is it again? ASAS has only two places in the game, so far as I am concerned. a) I have other things I want to do, just keep this right here. (NO... STOP... USING... MY... RCS!) BLOODY HELL, 'CAPSLOCK' is hardly fine enough control to settle this thing down. The times I want it tend to be the aspects it is worse at (getting rid of the minor tremors)... and so... yea... timewarp to kill rot!
  4. Okay, So just going to release this (especially since it is now in a much better state than the original was) Kudos to Module Manager for the "PartLoader" information. And Kudos to the original source that I wrote [and deleted] without which none of this would be possible. Kudos to Kerbal Alarm Clock for the code I originally used... and the idea to screw with Unity's GameObject code. Also Kudos to the annoying Unity Documentation You need some kind of "Oxygen" resource. Said oxygen resource should be available on all command pods (or, at the very least, running "RequestResource("Oxygen",1)" on said command pod should return oxygen) Oxygen is in units per hour. This is just "Oxygen for KerbalEVA", use with some other LifeSupport mod for that aspect. Souce + License + Plugin in File https://www.dropbox.com/s/eleojwgr4rm33cz/KerbalEVALS.zip
  5. Are we forced to use the patcher, or is there an alternative method? (The current Patcher.exe is a .NET app, and I'm not fond of .NET Framework; especially anything above 2.0.)
  6. Because he is the evolution of Kerbals!
  7. Why, by blindly hitting the keyboard! Oroja Agijre Byril Sometimes I'll use more (or less) creative "real word" names... but I don't like to start thinking about it (because I can easily spend hours just picking a name for a vehicle that blows up at launch XD)
  8. Jets aren't balanced... they're more powerful than rockets and have insane isps. (Of course, this is required to make the whole "space plane without rockets..." work.) And on spaceplanes, Let's just abandon rotpower and settle for RCS / Control Surfaces. Space planes have an overwhelming amount of rotpower (and no physics trying to tear them apart), the game "magically" makes the plane move which makes the whole "plane" aspect rather meaningless. I mean, you'd think an F-18 could enter a stable orbit according to kerbal physics.
  9. While checking the 'realism' of some of the numbers I noticed how poor the fuel / weight ratios of these devices seem in comparison to their earth counterparts. For a game that has serious micromanagement in weight ratios; it feels counterproductive to make things heavier. Just wondering if there is a balance trade off or something.
  10. Hey, that was my favorite game as a kid! http://www.xjehl.com/nasa/shuttle_usa.htm Long live the shuttle!
  11. I have a ghost image for my "slash and burn." (Yay for ~45 seconds (after rebooting into MSDOS) to restore the OS ;p). I keep "Install.reg" files for any program that "needs" a reg entry... have moved the whole %userprofile% directory to a separate drive (excluding reg data) so really... 45 seconds (after boot) and I have a wiped and operational system. "Windows 7" computer tentatively upgraded to "Windows XP Home" (Using Hacked Drivers) Some 3GB of RAM with 250MB shared to a cheap Nvidia chipset. (I STILL don't understand why I'd use PAE over /3GB... I don't HAVE more than 3GB in the first place, what is there to extend into?) 2.00GHz 32-bit dualcore processor But I can get enough FPS to have fun with the game (I mean, sure; rockets take longer to launch... but come on, you don't need that much FPS to enjoy a sandbox)
  12. That is fairly easy to explain. Most server software probably would cache a repeatedly requested document, so by repeatedly requesting something different you keep the server busy as it keeps fetching and caching "junk." If your server software isn't careful, you can easily fill up the read/write buffer on the hard-drive... and if it overflows, what happens depends on the manufacturer I would say. Most likely bad data will be written in random places. Of course, we're also talking about a mechanical device that is being requested to perform far more reads / writes than it is advised for; so in addition to the overflow attack, you could have mechanical problems develop. Keep this up over several trillion iterations and you can have some serious problems develop.
  13. I've had that happen a few times when I FORCE the game to put a vehicle together. Taking the tricouplers and building a small pyramid requires some partcliping, but it also causes the base to have overlapping attachment points (which make symmetrically placing engines on them impossible [due to two engines wanting to be in the same place]) While the ship can be taken apart into 1x sym; engines placed symmetrically, and re put together... the game obviously would never allow the placement to begin with. (Hence the crash when it tries to remove symmetric parts that aren't there to begin with)
  14. DLC has a VERY bad name, in part because it is a meaningless term: We have the "famous" DLC of horse armour, pay 1 USD for something a free mod could add... and is comparable to the free content offered by prior games. Then we have the DLC that actually ADDS something to the game. Unfortunately, sometimes what is added fits far too well and it feels like the company left out a major portion of the game only to sell it at a later date (worse is when DLC content is released only a few weeks after the "official release.") In this case, it really has nothing to do with expansions, updates, or DLC. I've seen it several times when people who purchased an alpha try and get more out of the developers; from the company standpoint, it is better to shut them up than to deal with the negative publicity.
  15. Look at the bright side, All of THOSE discussions will be irrelevant after a few more KSP versions ;p
  16. Writing a macro to "press" F5 until the forums come back up, of course
  17. So because "Harmless 'Protested to be Constitutionally Protected' DDoS Attacks" wreaked havoc upon your server, 6 months of data was lost... and the costs to repair the damaged server. Meh; these kids need to grow up. [i can only imagine how bad it could have been had the store database been wiped out instead... and how could we verify that we had purchased the alpha?]
