I have mixed feelings with this one. It's great to have a actual date. On the other hand; Now it's more then obvious that the server(s?) will be down in less then a minute.. Now I have to refresh ever second of the day too (like everbody else), to prevent I have to wait a day or two/three because the server(s?) are over flooded, down or simply shutdown because of the huge server traffic they cannot handle

Possible improvements to the science point system
JSD replied to Poryy's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Let the whole game system working to Squad please. I don't like it when people paint the whole picture there with names, numbers and everything and then say: This HAS to be this, and that SHOULD be that. Please don't. It's annoying.. -
I agree. Science is now used as an unlock currency in career mode which resulted into your argument; Science in sandbox is useless. Although that is true at the moment, it shouldn't be useless. Science should be science no matter what. Hopefully they change something about that down the road :-)

A different kind of Science
JSD replied to Kaito's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The problem with this is, that you make it to technical. Granted, it's really cool. But remember, it's a game. You don't want to make it to realistic. Only a handful of really hardcore players out there would want that kind of difficult (realistic) science system (And understand it), cause they want to know/reflect to the real life Space Programs. Gameplay is all about finding a balance between real life, (Being realistic, accurate and scientific right) and fun to play, learn and or understand it at all ages. It's cool for sure. As a mod. Or maybe a expansion or something. It's just not a real/doable suggestion that fits the game right now.. -
A different kind of Science
JSD replied to Kaito's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Me and my brother talked about this same thing today as well. Something like the Skyrim principale. The more you do melee attacks, the more melee skills and or tricks you get in Skyrim. I always assumed that Kerbal kind of took the same road there because they always said/the goal was, that the Kerbal system some kind of rewards you the more you learned. As said; it would be neat to unlock better landing gear/legs because you pulled of some tricky landings on old gear. Like Skyrim; The more you land, the better your getting at it. I totally agree; It's a more honest, solid and rewarding system in my opinion. Science points are cool, but science points should indeed be collected by doing science, but shouldn't be used as "unlocking currency". -
Great, you do that. I mean that. But everyone plays this game on a different way. For me the science vs tech tree kind of kills the fun. That's all I said. You maybe have a huge imagination. Good for you. I'm sober on the other hand. Science, as the way it is, is nothing more than a tool to unlock something new on the tech tree. It's no fun. It's something you HAVE to do, to get further into the tech tree. Not because it's that a big of a deal/achievement. If you can fly to the mun, you can do science there. If you can go to Duna, then you can do science there. The Science itself is just a tool. If you go to Duna, and you do science, then you do it because you need science points to unlock something. If you already unlock everything, doing science it pointless, not fun, means nothing. If you reach the end of the tech tree, you do not a single peace of science again. Do a sandbox mode play, and you know what I mean. Science means nothing there. Science it a tool, not a feature. And that, is kind of disappointing..
-
The most disappointing thing about career right now is the science. As weird as it sounds. Right now the only point of doing science is to collect some points. To go further on the tech tree. Science itself isn't fun anymore. You put on some weird science stuff, fly to the mun, do a random experiment (all science/experiment is the same. Another disappointment..), go back home, and bam! Points. Now you can "research" a ladder. I don't know, for me it's not that great. Hopefully the next upcoming updates will fix that kind of career play somehow..

Does anyone figured out how to decouple yet? I saw in some video's it can be done. Question is, how? (Space bar doesn't work)
-
If you get in a car without driving license/any driving experience at all, an you DO happen to hit a person, would you blame the company how made the car? Tutorials has one purpose; They explain how the game works. Do you skip them? I understand, I do it a lot of the time myself too. Trying to find out myself. But at the end of the day it was a choice YOU made. What your asking is a fool proof for something that doesn't need a fool proof..

Please do not kill me for asking this question
JSD replied to tstehler1's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Squad works with Milestones. They tell us when a Milestone is reached. The next Milestone for 0.22 would be the QA testing. The internal testing phase behind the door of Squad sort of speak. It obviously depends on how many bugs and problems they encounter, but mostly that phase shouldn't take more then two or three weeks. After that Milestone they put out another Milestone. Experiment testing (External). Testing with a larger group of selected players/testers all around the world. Again; depending on how many bugs, problems etc they find it usually takes another two or three weeks. Knowing all this; you will have in a way a release date. (Loosely). Or at least the knowledge when the release it getting closer and closer.. -
Funny thing; GMT has different zones. +1, +2, +3 etc etc. Same goes for CST though. What CST are we talking about? I checked at GMT 23:30 and the guy said an hour and a half until stream. So for me it would be 01:30 GMT +1. It's so freaking weird sometimes..

Yes, KSP is hard to handle right now. It's a Alpha, it's forgiven. The code probably isn't that good optimized yet. They probably have to learn some programming stuff along the way. Unity has some issues on that part too. But I look past that. Someday that HAS to be better and or fixed. Otherwise your doomed.. If they want to finish a real, well working Kerbal Space Program version, they can't get away without a 64 bit version, and or without multi-core support. Cause that's the standard now a days. And I know they fight with all power to get at least a 64 bit version to get working property. Because the devs feel there limitations too when it comes to memory usage and stuff like that. I look past that cause with all the problems Kerbal maybe now has, it shouldn't be a problem in the future because it has at least a year, or two or maybe more to even consider finish. And if Kerbal reached that point, it should be running a lot smoother with a lot less memory/CPU problem and limitations as it has right now. So, no excuse..

If you do have the new version, and I bet you do, because of the amazing space center you have there at your screen, you'll seen this Kerbals driving some kind or cars/trucks kind of thing. Elevators moving and many more crazy stuff is going on. If that is in the VAB and or the Space Plane hangar already, imagine the total Space Center someday. As we all know, this game isn't even nearly done yet. Too effected to change. Space Center on his own will change some couple of times for sure. Their will be roads someday. Even for the crazy Kerbals who drive them, and all sorts of things. But you have to see those things as finishing touch details. If the whole Space Center is done, with all the buildings and or features in place we can talk about roads, trees and all sorts of decoration. Right now, we are not even close to that..

I wonder something for a while now. Will R&D going to be a "unlock" the part thing only? Or does it (maybe not now, but at some point) support upgrades/downgrades of any kind? Cause it feels just really silly to research a Skipper for instants, and later on the Mainsail. The mainsail is pretty much a upgraded Skipper, or a Skipper is a downgraded Mainsail. Depends on how you look at it. Same for fuel tanks. Right now we have different shapes, and sizes and everything, different tanks for different liquid. But with tweakables coming in the picture someday, you should "tweak" the fuel sort right? There for you only need a different set of tanks in different sizes and shapes. (Maybe not even sizes. You could tweak or upgrade/downgrade that..) I don't see the need/the point of researching ten or twenty fuel tanks and or engines, if you can take just one basic tank/engine and upgrade it to a better one with more power or fuel, or downgrade it with less power or fuel. But again, I wonder because we don't really know what tweakables will be. Maybe we can change all those things in there?

Don't get your hopes up. All the interviews/video's/Dev things I have seen lately all pointed out out that resources will be pretty much the last step of the game. Or at least, not coming any time soon..

Hard to say what you need. Most users have amazing game rigs. Newest from the newest. It's still lags. KSP is still a 32 bit program. Even with 16 or 32 gigabyte memory, you encounter memory problems, BECAUSE it only supports up to 3. something gigabyte. It doesn't fully support multi-core as well. Point is, right now, KSP is hard to handle even if you have the hardware in house that should run it smoothly no matter what. You still experience lag on any kind of machine. Even the newest 24 core CPU on the market for insteads. Simply because KSP almost run on one core entirely/not fully have the support to use the other onces as it should. To make a good choice, look at other things you need/want to do with it. KSP is involving as we speak, and therefor not a good reason to make your choices from..

Why "Revert Flight" is not a good option for KSP
JSD replied to Szkeptik's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Your not killing any Kerbal in that process. Revert (to launch or VAB) is taking back time, like the flight never happened in the first place. Basically it's recovering, but without the data being saved. The only way you can kill Kerbals (by canceling) is if you cancel a flight in the Tracking Station. -
You DO know your in a Alpha version of the game right? KSP has bugs. A lot of them. The game is evolving and getting more grown-up with each version/update. And like all grown-ups we fall and have to learn from that. Meaning that in every release you see some new set of bugs kick in. Just accept that part. Just relex, take a beer, enjoy the weather or god knows what. There is a whole life out there besides KSP. Loading times thingy is a bug. Is on the bug tracker already. Do your homework. They know it, they will fix it. If it's not with a 0.21.2 release, then in the new version, or in another version in the future. I'm no developer of any kind, but if I read; .. I would make you at least wait an extra two/three months for it until I would even consider to fix it..

Put the MSD folder in your Gamedata folder. That's all you need. The source folder is for modders
-
Probably not. The courage and stupidity levels seem to be total random at this point. Even when you hire a Kerbalnaut with full stupidity and no courage, when you put him in a rocket and start flying with him, his levels are suddenly totally different in the knowledge center. Work in progress I guess..

Windowed Full-screen option

Is there a way to get KSP on the second screen after you added this to the shortcut? -
Mission Control Building
JSD replied to Techiastronamo's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well, I hope it will be something that does deserve the name Mission Control. Like all the details of your mission. Stats, watching cam recordings from remote rovers and or bases. Communication stuff. I don't know. Plenty future features to think of. Some day science will kick in for real too. Something like that. Mission to Jool --> Mission Control --> Jool relative stuff. If I think about money management, I think more about an headquarter or an administration office building or something of that kind. -
I keep wondering; Every video/sneek peeks I've seen about the new SAS all spoke about a "lock mode" where you can edit your controls, but when you keep your hands of the controls it shoots into "lock mode" and lock the position you were in and just keep going like that. My SAS will not go in any locking state/mode or what so ever. It spins, or tries to steer anyway, or it even turned the whole rocket retrograde a couple of times totally on his own. I wonder.. What's the magic trick for that to just lock and let burn fuel instead of trying to be a auto-pilot when it's clearly not. Right now, it's fifty, fifty for both versions. The vids looked so promising and exciting, but it doesn't work like that in field testing. At least, not for me..

[Request] Bring back some sort of preview stream or devstream
JSD replied to blspblackdeath's topic in KSP1 Discussion
A little bit more than that (wordwide), but who cares right?
