  1. Hm...awesome, I woke up today with a body temperature von 40°C (thats 104°F for all you insane people). First fever in over ten years. Well, the start of the vote might delay because it seems like I sleep a lot. Anyways - until the vote stats, you are allowed to post entries. Also, I have updated my own entry and fixed the bugs Giggleplex mentioned.
  2. You've been added, Ravenchant. Also thank you all guys for the reputation - it's your fault that I've got two bars now
  3. Now this is what I call a presentation......and I thought I was up for something by adding a caption into the picture by hand. Also note that you now have less than 24 hours left to submit your entry if you haven't yet.
  4. Because it's secure - people who've sent me their adresses will receive individual links to the poll. This way only one vote per voter is guaranteed. Everytime I've used a free poll-service before (this is the 10th BSC challenge I'm hosting) some fishy buisiness happened. Also - in what universe does a list of 10-30 (30 very, very optimistic) adresses qualify as "a nice long list"?
  5. Now, let me repeat a few points: -If you want to vote, pm me your email adress - once the submissions are closed, you will receive a link. Don't tell me who you'd like to vote for or just that you would like to vote. I need you email. -I know, this might seem a bit paranoid, but there have been severe irregularities everytime I loosen the security. -The primary vote will select a handfull of crafts that will enter the final round that will use the forum-voting system. This final vote will be open, i.e. everybody will be able to see for whom you have voted. I guess this is some deterrent to people who would like to vote for themselfes.
  6. No, people who have PMed me their email adresses are registered voters.
  7. Just a quick reminder: The building-phase will conclude in about 48 hours. Be sure to submit you entry till then. I also added a list of registered voters to the OP so you guys know I've read you PMs and for the sake of transparency.
  8. Well, that looks quite awesome - I'm thrilled to see how she holds up Don't forget: If you want to vote, you have to pm me you email adress, guys.
  9. I present: The CRPLTV Th CRPLTV is obviously heavly influenced by the LLRV, it tried to keep it a simple as possible. It's powered by five Rockomax 48-7S, has a fully functional RCS system, a secondary probe core that allows for a horizontally oriented navball and a escape system. Just 43 parts. >>Download<<
  10. @Colariboo: Well, did you check out the BSC: Challenge Guidelines Mk.II? Paragraph II "And there are a few things you should consider" basically tells you what there is to consider I believe you that you are not copying, you don't have to send me pictures - you can post them here however, so that people who are interested can see what you are doing. Oh, 666 post, that aweso.....aaarrrgg....
  11. Oh, that are some awesome submissions I originally only wanted to host the challenge, but by now I've put so much thought into VTOLs that I will probably also take part.
  12. I won't enforce a explicit part count limit - simplicity is a mentioned design goal. If you ignore this goal during design, I hope you will get downvoted accordingly. Just use your common sense.
  13. Thanks for the entry, briansun. I've been asked about rapier engines. I'm fine with them - if you can put them to good use, do so by all means.
  14. ....yeah...that is really embarassing, you see. No - it started today, and will end in a week. But I'm hessitant to sent out another mass-pm No, ecape-system are no a must. As explained in the BSC: Challenge Guidelines Mk.II, simplicity is also a designs goal. While an escape system might be nice - it might make the craft overly complicated.
  15. Well, as I said - I'm fine with you craft having vertical as well as horizontal engines. But lift has to be provided by vertical thrust - NOT by wings.
  16. I'm sorry spartwo - but only one entry per participant. It either the sparrow or the tern - I wont decide wich one stands a better chance. What are "VTOL engines"? Im fine with horizontal engines, but lift has to be provided by vertical thrust. No harriers..
  17. Aaaaaaand....we have a winner! It's Giggleplex! Again! Now this marks his third time he wins a BSC contest - so special congratulations to Giggleplex. It's been an awesome Challenge (once again) with suprisingly few incidents (none). Thank you guys once again for all your contributions - BSC would not be possible without you. It's time for the final vote! It will run for two days - please read BSC: Challenge Guidelines Mk.II - even if you just want to vote! The vote is public - everyone will be able to see what you have voted. The primary vote has started! It will run for four days and will select four finalists. Everyone who sent me their Email via PM should have a mail. Also note: If you want to vote too, you can still PM me your adress. You can download all the crafts in a single, convenient .zip right >>HERE<< I'm using condorcet-method vote - you will be asked to rank the entries. Don't worry, it's fairly simple - If you want to vote for a single entry, leave all entries on the lowest rank and move your prefered entry to rank one. The way you can also vote for any number of candidates. It sound a little wierd but it's a perfectly sound voting system - you can check the wiki page (And I've got a fairly professional page that offers this service). After public outcry: Here is another BSC challenge! Yes, it has been a while, february has been a bussy month. But now I'm back for another challenge. After that little voting incident last time and since the last BSC was over a month ago, you guys will have one week to build and one week to Vote. I will probably split the voting-procedure in a 5-days primary vote, using a condorcet vote like last time, followed by a two days final vote here in the forums. Other people will be able to see what you have voted for in the final vote. If you want to vote in the primaries - you have to pm me your email-adress. Please check the BSC: Challenge Guidelines Mk.II - even if you just want to vote! This is where I've outsourced all the rules, legal stuff and design-goals. How is this going to work? You will have 168 hours to build you craft and post your entry here with at least one screenshot and its .craft file (only one .craft file is allowed). Also be so kind to drop us a few lines about your craft. What are your thoughts on the design? Why is it a good stock craft? Once submissions are closed, everyone who sent me their mail adresses via pm will receive a email with a personal link to the vote. Depending on the number on entries, we will probably first hold primary election, followed a final one. Anyways, I would like to encourage you to write a few lines why you voted you that craft, it keeps the thread fresh and we all have something to read while we wait for the votes. What are we doing this time? As you allready know, we are doing the Rocket Powered VTOL. Well, once again I think this a probably a rather decent craft. Still - I'm sure there is room for improvement! Obvious enhancements would be a longer flight time, improved handling and maybe speed. While the title actually calls for a rocket powered VTOL I'm fine with air-breathing engines since, in my experience, their sluggish response to throttle change make up for the improved flight time. But just to make sure: I don't want a Harrier Jump Jet! Your craft should not rely on wings to keep itself airborne but on vertical thrust. Please keep the spirit of the original stock craft. Since this is obviously a rather hard topic to find inpirational pictures for, I have only two. The Lunar Landing Research Vehicle and the VZ-9 Avrocar. Contenders Andrew Hansen - Wernhermobile briansun1 - VV-1V DisarmingBaton5 - Ostrich VTOL Giggleplex777 - Damselfly Kasuha - Morpheus Majorjim - LLTV mhoram - The Kerbol Flying Object MiniMatt - Snack Wagon VTOL PDCWolf - Rocket Powered VTOL 2 Psycix - VTOL Training Or Learning Ravenchant - Pack mule Rhomphaia - H.A.L.O. SaplingPick - LeapFrog LV-I Spartwo - Tern MK3 sploden - VTOLPV7.1 Rocket Chair Tarmenius - Bullfrog ThePsuedoMonkey - Omega 16 UpsilonAerospace - Pavo VTOL Xeldrak - CRPLTV Registered voters: MiniMatt; SaplingPick; sploden; Andrew Hansen; ethan829; Giggleplex777; briansun; Rhomphaia; Spartwo; DisarmingBaton5; Ravenchant; panzerknoef; Tarmenius; mhoram
  18. Hm, well I didn't realize that demand is that high. I have another exam on Tuesday - if you guys are so eager for another challenge, I could set up a new BSC on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday.
  19. I like the basic idea of this challenge, a station building challenge also crossed my mind once or twice. However, you really need to work on the wording of it. Basically everything regex wrote. Also is the some way these stations will be ranked? A Point System or a public poll? Especially the "all mods" allowed part will get you in trouble, because it makes the whole challenge an uneven playing field. In my experience challenges work best with stock only. Yes! Abusing a challenge is allways a good way to welcome sombody in our community and not at all a thinly veiled excuse to troll sombody. Who Needs constructive criticism?
  20. Seriously, I think you forget how hard KSP is to new players. I needed several days to get to the mun and back. And I allways liked rockets - so I had some basic designs allready in my head and knew several ways to design a munshot (LOR, direct ascent). But ferram and DE? You'll just see tons of frustrated people. I suggest you leave the mods and declare the fist one to get a living kerbal to the moon winner. This way there is a chance that you find a winner within hours.
  21. Realizing what a monster-thread I have started with this o.O
  22. Well, right now I don't know when the next one will be. I'm really busy with my university stuff this month, since I'll have to write several exams around the end of it. I haven't forgotten BSC - it's just that real life has gotten the better of me.
  23. Because it is annoying if you start a challenge, tell the people quite clearly what they want and then they try to exploit any loophole they can find, instead of using their common sense. People that organize challenges are not paid to do so, they put up with a lot of work so that you can have some fun. Try to respect that. If you actively try to find loopholes and do anything you can do to break the challenge, you are doing nobody a favor, you are just acting like a jerk. You discourage other people from taking part in the community by this behaviour, because they'll get the feeling, that they have to go to a lawyer before they are allowed to post their ideas. On a sidenote: Can't promise anything, but I'll have a look at the challenge mayself.
