[1.12.*] Deadly Reentry v7.9.0 The Barbie Edition, Aug 5th, 2021
15nelsoc replied to Starwaster's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I finally figured out the issue with overheating too quickly. The most recent module manager update created a lot of issues within my existing craft files and ended up bugging some modules. After I identified that issue, I was able to perform a succesful reentry without any odd behavior. So no issue with DR. Thanks again for looking into it NathanKell and Starwaster!- 5,917 replies

[1.12.*] Deadly Reentry v7.9.0 The Barbie Edition, Aug 5th, 2021
15nelsoc replied to Starwaster's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I went back through and tested in several new saves, and even ran a fresh copy of the game with DR as the only mod. For some reason, every time I get 27764 metres the heatshield explodes no matter the descent angle. I tried a descent from 71 km to 55 km (about as shallow as it could be) and I still exploded in the same place. I don't have a clue what might be causing it?- 5,917 replies

[1.12.*] Deadly Reentry v7.9.0 The Barbie Edition, Aug 5th, 2021
15nelsoc replied to Starwaster's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I just checked and there was no custom.cfg in my DR folder. I also checked to make sure it just wasn't an issue with one specific heatshield and found the same results with all of them. I'll start a new save file and check to make sure there isn't some kind of corruption within my current one that could be causing the excess heating. I'll get back to you all with my results in a couple of hours. Also are there any mods already known to cause issus with DR, perhaps ones that inadvertently affect the heat model?- 5,917 replies

[1.12.*] Deadly Reentry v7.9.0 The Barbie Edition, Aug 5th, 2021
15nelsoc replied to Starwaster's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Did the heating model change somehow in the last few updates? I'm playing on stock Kerbin, and reentry profiles that worked previously now result in burning up every time. A shallow descent from 100km to 40km results in the craft getting destroyed. It seems like heat is increasing much more quickly during reentry than it did in the past. I've checked the config values to ensure that they are at their defaults and can't see any changes in them. Here is a link to my config file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/agu2b77xhhiybis/DeadlyReentry.cfg Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give!- 5,917 replies

Total Conversion Reboot!! [Pic Heavy] - Final Mission!
15nelsoc replied to Taki117's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Was the reentry damage and subsequent ditching something you had planned, or did it just happen? It's always fun when something unplanned happens, and you have to try to figure out how to salvage the situation. Anyway, keep up the great mission reports; I always find them entertaining! -
[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
15nelsoc replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm not certain, but I am nearly sure that it will not. -
Thanks, that is much appreciated! Any thoughts on where you want to take this pack or are you going to take a break for now?

parts [1.10.x] SDHI Service Module System (V4.0.4 / 11 October 2020)
15nelsoc replied to sumghai's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I personally use the Modular Fuel Tanks mod, which comes with a large number of predefined configs including for the SDHI service module. It gives tanks a total volume and then resources of varying types can be added in any ratio to fill that amount. For the purpose of the example, let's say that the service module has a total volume of a 1000, I could fill that 41% oxidizer, 34% liquid fuel, 10% monopropellant, 5% food, 5% water, and 5% oxygen; or I could fill it with any other ratio that I wanted. Resources have different densities, so 1 unit of electricity does not take up as much of the overall total volume as one unit of fuel. Here is my personal modular fuel tanks folder, which already contains definitions for TAC life support. -
[PLUGIN+PARTS][0.23] SCANsat terrain mapping
15nelsoc replied to damny's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
How would I go about compiling v6 from the github files? -EDIT- Nevermind, I'll just be patient. -
I looked through the parts in the pack and found them to be pretty satisfactory as a whole. A few little comments though: the texture on the drop tank looks more like a gel or the surface of a liquid than a metal foil; the trusses seem to have a flat, almost painted look rather than a polished metal one; the drop tanks looks to be suspened invisibly when attatched to the truss and there is no clear means of attatchment; also the 3.75m drop tank hold almost 32000 liquid fuel when a normal tank of the same size holds around 6000; finally could you explain the purpose of the truss radiator in-game?

Your best bet would be to see if Frizzank will send you the source .psd/.xcf and then edit the "Kerbal States" to "United States". After that all you would need to do is save it as a .tga and replace the existing one in "/gamedata/FASA/Mercury/FASA_Mercury_LFT_Long". Frizzank might even be willing to do that edit for you considering that its for school. If he sends you the source image, and you need help, I'm also more than happy to make that edit for you.

I followed this method here, but still got a corrupt zip file. When I try to extract anything from it, there is an error stating that it is corrupt. -Edit- I extracted the file and placed it in the gamedate folder but for some reason I get 5 duplicates of every part? -Edit- The five duplicates were in hidden files in the gamedata folder from earlier attempts to extract there. The parts can be installed if they are carefully extracted outside the gamedata folder and then transferred into it. Make sure to remember that it extracts to a hidden folder at first. In summary: download works, download will extract to a hidden folder and will alert the user that it is corrupt, but files can be transferred manually from the hidden folder to the gamedata folder.

[1.0.2] NovaPunch 2.09. - May 6th - 1.0 Compatibility Update
15nelsoc replied to Tiberion's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Great work as always! And you can never have enough engines... -
That is some quality work that you have done there; the textures and model both look excellent. The standard for scale seems to be 64% of real world dimensions if that's any help. Keep up the great work, I look forward to trying this out some day!

[1.0.2] NovaPunch 2.09. - May 6th - 1.0 Compatibility Update
15nelsoc replied to Tiberion's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Is anyone else on Linux having an issue with getting Novapunch to load? It's not a memory issue because I'm running the 64 bit version anyway; and furthermore, I've tried running it as the only thing in the gamedata folder, and it still crashes. I have no idea what could be causing it because it works fine for me on Windows, just not on Linux. --Edit-- Nevermind. It was some kind of bug with my settings file. I reinstalled the game from scratch and everything works fine. Thanks again for this great collection of parts, and I'm loving the new Freyja. -
[WIP] Aerojet Kerbodyne (Released Service Module Pack)
15nelsoc replied to blackheart612's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I know I'm going to sound like an ungrateful pain, but would you be open to reducing the strength of that red color at the bottom of the tank right before the engine? Maybe to the same color as the thin red stripe on the upper part of the tank? The color of the tank bottom just seems very glaring as it is. Please don't take this the wrong way, I really do appreciate how much work goes into making and texturing these models; and your work so far is awesome. I just wanted to give you an outside opinion on it. -

Are you planning on adding fairings between here also to cover the service module? -
[0.23]Cargo Transfer Bags and Tanks(for TAC life support) 0.7
15nelsoc replied to Albert VDS's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Here is a redistribution of Eagleshift's great textures, just without the Russian text on them. All original credit goes to him, and this is in line with his licensing (as I understand it); I just thought the cyrillic looked a little out of place in my own roleplaying save and thought that others might have similar feelings. Thanks also to Albert VDS for his great parts. -
At this stage in your development of the shuttle it is a little hard to provide feedback beyond saying that wing model looks good so far. You might want to smooth some of the angles on the protruding portion in order to make it a little more rounded in appearance. Do you by chance have a sketch or source of inspiration for what the overall shuttle will look like, and its launch system?

Oh, I never said that the plan wasn't shelved for legitimate reasons . It was more just a hypothetical inquiry, thanks for looking in to it. I am quite looking forward to your Apollo parts as well, you have never failed to deliver excellent quality work. Don't burn yourself out though, I think you might be due for a bit of respite considering your recent pace.

Not trying to put words in Astronomer's mouth, but I think he meant normal map/ lighting bug. I personally haven't seen the bug he's talking about, but I think that is what he meant to say.- 5,917 replies

I know you already have quite a lot on your plate, Frizzank, but I was just wondering what your position was on the possibility of eventually working the proposed post-Apollo Nuclear Shuttle program into FASA? I know your parameters are NASA from 1958 to 1976, and was just wondering your opinion on this as a hypothetical program right at the end of that time period?
