  1. It feels somewhat unnecessary when the alternative is moving your mouse an inch.
  2. I feel like this might work near the beginning of the space program when space is still strange and mysterious to the public but that the effect might wear off after that. Similar to the public's reaction during the Apollo program compared to now.
  3. Agreed. It seems similar to incremental programming. They want to make sure the base tech tree works before throwing all the mods in. They're obviously not ignoring modders since they put hidden nodes in.
  4. On their own they probably are but it doesn't take much to shift your CoM around to mess with your flight characteristics.
  5. Is there a docking port on it? If so you could use that as a another command point.
  6. This may help but depending on where they are added they could just contribute to the CoM problem.
  7. Given the setup from the pics the larger rockomax should drain first, it's just that hitchhiker and command pod are heavy.
  8. So it sounds like you burned all the fuel in the back and your center of mass shifted too far forward. You could try adding canards near the nose or maybe adding more weight in the back.
  9. I feel like the explosion is generally the cue. That's how I found out 6 of the 8 nervas on my interplanetary craft overheated.
  10. Status updates might be problematic at least for the "Ship 'Tug' has been destroyed" because the ship probably hasn't been destroyed it is just much smaller and you weren't planning on it.
  11. Problem with EVAing the kerbals is if you can't get the base to load you can't get them out. I lost 4 kerbals that way. It was a tragic day.
  12. Is it not loading at all or is it just loading slowly? If it's the first it could be mod issues, or the base is registered as inside the terrain which could be from a mod bug, or if you changed the terrain detail.
  13. The suggestion makes sense, but it seems like it would only apply to debris. And most players either seem to be in the no debris (slider set to 0) or they don't care about debris. Also I have no idea what the stars are for.
  14. You may want to also consider reducing the part count on your station modules that certainly can't be helping the lag.
  15. Another option is always the Mun. More gravity but no inclination change, easier to encounter and you've already spent 800 m/s dv. Minmus is only 200 or so after that right?
  16. Actually the problem with most rovers is too much friction. The wheels have no slip if they go sideways so the entire craft flips. On the other hand I too have had a kerbal face-slide a good half a kilometer after hitting the ground too hard on his way to the rescue vehicle.
  17. There was a thread around recently about giving you the launch windows and possibly phase angles as part of the new observatory.
  18. Especially with the higher part counts. The physics engine has to do more work quicker.
  19. Maybe this is where we are encountering a problem. What I, and I think Outlander, are referring to when we say standard is, not custom-made. For instance the Falcon 9 launch stage. SpaceX can build 30 of them and then store them to use with custom built payloads later. While the Falcon 9 may have been custom-made at first, now that they plan on using it more often they presumably have assembly-line techniques to speed up the process. This kind of assembly-lining makes the launch stage standard. While since the payloads are designed for a variety of different tasks they are not standard.
  20. Interesting, implementing life support in a similar way to how probes need electricity. Just might work, might need some refinement , but a very original idea.
  21. Gilly for asteroid like conditions. Dres for orbital postition similar to asteroid belt. Take your pick.
  22. Quick question. Where are you trying to go with this SSTO, because that thing's a monster. You can make it into orbit with just the Vonnegut if you want to. 100km circular with fuel to deorbit and land.
  23. That's not a bad idea. Maybe after some research into the idea and finding a nearby planet it could show the launch window for that planet. Do you think it should show phase angles as well?
