  1. I counted about 30 in the main pack, but I also spotted some dim ones ahead of the main bunch by maybe up to a minute. I was using 7x50 binocs and have fairly dark conditions. I was watching the dim leading ones with my binocs, first spotting some in Eridanus, and then along as they passed near the end of the handle of the Big Dipper. That's when my wife spotted the big pack with the three bright ones going past Denebola. The dim ones were hard to track because they would even fade in and out in the view through the binoculars.
  2. That was impressive. There were three bright ones, and a whole line of dimmer ones, which sometimes glinted brighter.
  3. Looks like they will go almost straight overhead fo me tonight at 9:40PM...and the weather forecast says clear... so I'll see what I can see.
  4. The fairings look odd...as if they are metallic.
  5. Yeah, that was unexpected. I wonder how they were all held together and held on the the rocket. Have any diagrams been posted?
  6. SECO 2. Good orbit. Payload deployment in 15 minutes.
  7. Try reloading. Entry burn onboard video... Nice heating effects on the grid fins Annnnndddd... first stage is on the boat. Coasting. "Don't touch that dial." As if that guy is old enough to remember channel select dials.
  8. Startup. And off we go! Let's see how the re-used fairings do at max-Q Interest effects of the upper stage exhaust hitting the first stage. And the fairing have done their job.
  9. I'm very keen to see how the deploy 60 satellites. Are they going to show us?
  10. I'm looking forward to watching them snag the engines out of the air. Not as cool as landing boosters on rocket flames, but it should be entertaining.
  11. It still puts a silly grin on my face to think of guys building a freakin spacecraft out in a open field.
  12. I would love a virtual reality tour of the surface of Bennu.
  13. The Space Shuttle did not use the robotic arm to dock to the ISS.
  14. I was always under the impression that it was named 'union' because it was the first Soviet craft designed to dock together.
  15. I like how the lander bays all have labels like "AVIONICS" and "PAYLOAD" and "FUEL CELLS". I wonder if one of the bays around back is labeled "SNACKS".
  16. Hopefully the falcon is close enough to give us onboard video during landing. IR shot of booster.
  17. MECO. Boostback burn looks eerie. Onboard video shows ground lights.
  18. Have they reflown Dragons before? She's reading the same script.
  19. Hmmm. I wonder if customers would be unhappy if they didn't get a launch because SpaceX scrubbed because of drone ship problems. Or is it part of the contract SpaceX offers that customers realize that they might not get a launch if SpaceX decides it wouldn't get their booster back?
