  1. Here's some advice: 1. Force KSP to use OpenGL. As the other posters said, it'll save you about 1GB of ram. If you're using Steam right click, go to Properties and click (on the first tab) Set Launch Options, you can put "-force-opengl" without the quotes in there. 2. If you're using Windows or Linux, try using the x64 build of the game. It's a separate executable in the KSP root folder, and can be launched via the Launcher executable.
  2. I'd like a nice, comfy seat on the HypeTrain, please. Time to get nice and cozy while everyone around me is hyped up and HYPE-PARTYING.
  3. True, but if you design properly, you can minimize the effects of lateral asymmetric thrust via SAS control. The engines must be close to the centerline of the COM to reduce rolling and yawing. With proper control, planes can be saved.
  4. Here's mine: All names start with the abbreviation KSV, which stands for Kerbal Space Vehicle Spaceplanes: Globemaster/Globetrotter/Spacemaster: Long-range (Mun/Minmus)joyride Falcon: Low orbital Vulture: Orbital transfer Eagle: Munar/Minmus range Other Spacecraft Athena: Low orbital/Orbital transfer Aurora: Mun/Minmus range
  5. I know this is old, but... Sir, you must be mistaken. I'm at the HypePlane check in counter. ...right?
  6. Back on topic: I, like Wanderfound, will be improving and refining my submission. Here's the stats of the WIP KSV Globemaster Mk. II... WET MASS: ~7.2t (-1.2t, compared to the KSV Globemaster's 8.4t) PART COUNT: 51 (-13, compared to the KSV Globemaster's 64) FUNDS REQUIRED: (Note: This is sort of useless...) 33796 (-11053 Funds compared to the KSV Globemaster's 44849 funds required) RANGE: (Note: D/V amounts will be coming up soon.) Full-Cismunar Trip (Kerbin-Mun/Minmus Orbit-Kerbin W/O refueling) compared to the KSV Globemaster's Free-Return Munar trip (Kerbin-Mun (Free Return Trajectory)-Kerbin) Optimization for the win!
  7. That's a lot of quality control... I've also started to redesign my planes to remove hidden/clipped control surfaces and optimize their capacity. The KSV Globemaster MkII (Yes, a MkII's in the works after less than 12 hours) has 12 less parts and shaves off a ton of weight (literally...). All hidden control surfaces have been removed and the airhogging more or less resolved to look more realistic.
  8. Wow, most planes that work well in stock fail miserably in FAR. Hey O-Doc, good job! Yep, got it. I may update my craft file with flight improvements.
  9. And probably a beefier finger that can stand holding H for minutes at a time...
  10. Agreed. Those planes, while not being the most... aesthetically pleasing compared to others I've seen, do handle quite well. I'd go so far to say that most of them are noob-friendly. I just did, it's pretty (and by pretty, I actually mean VERY) good in terms of handling. Not the best range, but it's a strong contender alright. EDIT: Wanderfound, mind updating the OP with my entries? Thanks!
  11. I've just flight-tested my category competitor, the O-Doc Razorback. I have to say, it's quite a plane. Handles well in-atmo, and has a decent range. You have my vote. I have some good competition...
  12. ENTRY - Kerbal Space Vehicle Conglomeration Please note that entry will be updated ASAP after 0.25 is released. Name of Craft: KSV Raven Categories: Best Sporty Pleasure Spaceplane, Best All-Stock Parts Spaceplane Part Count: 52 Mass: 6.61t Description This craft is meant as a midsized craft for daily use as a relaxation vehicle to sharpen your spaceplane skills. It has the capability to perform a free-return from the Mun without refueling, but if you manage the fuel aboard well enough or refuel it in orbit, it has the range to do a basic orbit around the Mun. Download Here
  13. I don't think this is a viable challenge, as the minimum amount of D/V to get into orbit is fixed. How about a minimum part count challenge?
  14. Nice challenge! I'll be entering for both NEAR and Stock Atmos in the Sporty Pleasure category. Stand by for entries... EDIT: I'm withdrawing from the NEAR category. Current entry stands at 53 parts and is ready to upload following qualification flight. EDIT 2: I'd like some clarification on the categories. Firstly, are there any requirements to enter? For example: "For Category A, your spaceplane must be able to achieve an orbit of around --km and dock with a station at about ---km." Secondly, are there rules restricting part clipping? And finally, can a single spaceplane be entered into 2 different categories? Thanks!
  15. Your rep debt has been paid, sir. Here you go. Make any engine you want next, I don't really care much whether it's a LVT-45 or a LV-N nuke, as long as it maintains DA QUALITY.
  16. Bumped! That moment when you burn for Eeloo, come back after 20 minutes, and find out your burn was miscalculated.
  17. Looks like I'm the first ENFP according to the table... Extrovert: 22%, Intuitive: 12%, Feeling: 25%, Percieving: 11%
  18. Test 2 of the 1m kraken drive has removed ALL forces, not just lateral. Redesign in progress.
  19. If the OP is serious: In newer rockets, the upper stages are most commonly deorbited, and not for KSP reasons. And compared to KSP, 2 SRB's is pitifully little. We need 24. If the OP is joking: Well played
  20. Complaining about the use of MechjebAutomatic? Cheater to the highest degree. You have been sentenced to banishment.
  21. Randomness one day. 'Nuff said. My username actually evolved somewhat over the years. My original was FCICRAZYGUY (yes, all caps), but it evolved into FCICrazyGuy, then FCISuperGuy (my current username on the forum), then fcisuperguy (all lowercase) as my newest one.
  22. If you meant a deaf leopard, that's one of the ingredients. Waiter, there's a Firefox in my soup!
