  1. I used to work around that by using the Lazor systems; they have a great night cam. Too bad the mod is making my game do all weird kind of things, so I decided to put the mod aside and wait for some other versions. In the meantime, the only way to get a little more visual is to crank up the gamma but there is no in game way of doing that. I really hope that someday a night cam will be officially integrated, or the the very least: some brightness settings is the options menu.
  2. How is commenting on the subject derailing? I just wanted to point out that I feel this thread is poaching on a other person's preserves. We had a general request thread prior to this personal one and that was fine by me. If someone feels he/she is special enough to separate oneself, it's ok for me... but I am entitled to express how I feel about that. Anyhow, I said what I wanted to say, so I'm done.
  3. The OP can have his thread, but I just wanted to express how I feel about it. Imagine you have a restaurant and I open one next to yours and call it "the main entrance"... it's not a nice thing to do. I don't have ample time to make flags, I just want to pick up the ideas that I think are cool to make. The OP could also have joined the others, but by separating himself from the group and tell others not to touch these requests, does feel like elitism. I just liked the idea that anyone was working together; imo there's no need to change that.
  4. Let's not make an argument out of this, but I think it is you who is missing the point here. It's not a nice thing to claim requests if before those were open to anybody. As I stated, this is a hobby of mine. When I have some spare time, I like to make some flags... I really don't get it why this thread should only be privileged to you. What is wrong with the other public thread? Why can't you just join the other artists instead? What's so special about this thread that we can't touch it?
  5. I can't help feeling this being some sort of elitist thread; no offence. Why not just keep the request available to anyone in one simple and clear thread? What's wrong with picking up assignments over there? If you take a look, you can see anyone is picking up requests. It's not confined to one artist... No one is offended if you pick up assignments over there.
  6. We have one clear thread about this, no need for a second one imo. Anyone can request a flag there and anyone can pick up the task if he/she feels like it; I've done a couple myself. I'm not a graphics artist, but I do enjoy using photoshop as a hobby. Does this thread mean I'm "not allowed" (mind the quotes) to pick up any design request that is made here? If it does, I don't like the idea 'cause you just "killed" my hobby... If it doesn't, we can just use the original thread and leave things the way they were.
  7. <...> Although the closest approach is on May 31st, the best time to observe 1998 QE2 will be during the first week of June when the asteroid enters northern skies. At that time, its sunlit side will face Earth, making it an easy target for large backyard telescopes. At maximum brightness on June 3rd and 4th it is expected to glow like an 11th magnitude star. <...> I keep an eye out.
  8. I watched some Youtube tutorials. After that, it took me about 2 days or so to reach orbit without help from mods. To be consistent however (know to reach orbit for sure) took 1 to 2 weeks I guess. Of course it all depends on your initial rocket design.
  9. It really must suck to be Michael Collins
  10. Try the Apollo 11 landing coordinates on the Mün.
  11. I changed "technologies" to "technology" to match the original JPL logo.
  12. For your Kerbals to plant on their journeys:
  13. If I really like a game, it takes years for me to get tired of it. But that only applies to very few games for me... I think KSP is going to be one of those.
  14. To be honest, I never pay any attention to the fuel values. When I build a rocket, I just keep an eye on the DeltaV and that always seems to work for me regardless the TWR (given it is higher than 1.01). I've launched several rockets that had little over 1 TWR in the first stage (the number goes up slowly as fuel gets out during ascent) and all that seems to differ is the time it takes before I get into orbit... low TWR values result in a very slow ascent. I don't know the exact time, but maybe in the range of 5 to 7 minutes. My fastest rockets however can reach Kerbal orbit in under a minute. I've build a lot of rockets that had a high TWR value (3.5 or higher), but I found out that too much thrust pushes the lowers stages through the upper ones which lead to obvious malfunctions. Again, I'm no math guy. I just test a lot of different rockets and meticulously process the data (using mechjeb) in Excel sheets. With the data I'm trying to make a DeltaV map for every location in the Kerbol system... I know there's a DeltaV map on Wiki, but I like to make one myself and compare it with the "official numbers"... see how close I can get.
  15. I'm no math guy, so I made a lot of tables with DeltaV/TWR/Mass etc. I'm not sure if I'm playing by the rules, but I've noticed that DeltaV is the most important one. I tested hundreds of rockets and the average DeltaV needed to get into circular Kerbin orbit is somewhere around 4500 Ms2. The TWR seems to be OK as long as it is higher than 1.01. It just goes very slowly, when you have less TWR, but the DeltaV seems to be a more or less stable number. But maybe I've been doing it "wrong" (I can get anywhere with this method) and some of the math people here have a better explanation.
  16. Ever since I play 0.20 my loading times have decreased and my lag has reduced significantly. I sympathize with the people who are having problems though, I know how it feels when you're favorite game is letting you down... but I'm having zero problems with the new release.
  17. The C64 has 64 kB of RAM (hence the name) of which 38 kB are available to BASIC. Imagine that! A lot has changed...
  18. Played it on the C64 and later on the Amiga 500... ah, the sweet memories. Great game for it's time. Is still have all my old computers and occasionally I play some games on them, Defender of the Crown is one them If you compare these times with games like KSP, you can really see how much more powerful home computers have become. Remember Millennium 2.2? KSP really reminded me of that great game... If only I were younger and had more time on my hands.
  19. My most played game ever must be Rome Total War. There's no way I can do an estimate on the hours that went into that, but it must be a shocking number. I still have a campaign going, but I know maybe play it once every two weeks. Galactic Civilizations II Twilight of the Arnor is probably second. KSP is my new favorite game and will absolutely make it in my personal top 10 most played games ever list... after a couple of years playing of course, but it'll get there.
