This is a hard one to answer. My betting is nobody's computer doesn't lag in KSP. Every ship over 400 parts say, will cause a reduction in frames per second. It depends on at what point you feel that slowing of FPS. It will vary between different people due their own sensitivity to it and also their KSP delta time setting. I notice a slowing of FPS at around 500 parts, fewer when near the space center. My limit for tolerance of lag is a ship of around 700-1000 parts. That's at full settings, delta time set all the way to the right. MJ

It's, it's, invisible! How did you pull off this wizardry? EDIT, huh thats odd. The Imgur link works when I quote you but I cant see it in your post.. Oh, and the plane is very imaginative! Nice work. -
Dark Knight Tumbler and Battman inspired vehicles.

I noticed you used the large rover wheels in the rear. I tried those for my Tumbler but they only have grip and drive when below a certain angle from 90 degrees.. Your tumbler spins out a lot doesn't it. That bug/feature is so annoying! Anyway, good effort on these. MJ -

Most may have seen this before but I've nearly finished my new more realistic version of my Short brothers SC.1 VTOL. In order to make it more true to the real one I used mini mainsails in place of the very large KSP jets. The real one used four small Rolls Royce jets for vertical thrust and one for forward flight. She looks great now and sits much better on the Tarmac. It's much lighter in this configuration and a lot easier to fly. Even though with rockets it is only really usable with infinite fuel. I will make a stunt video to show it off. MJ -

Yup I did that on my new VTOL worked a treat. -
No, no, no, The actions should be YOURS. If YOU fly better you have a better chance of survival. You are flying not the Kerbal.

[WIP] Von Braun's Mission to Duna
Majorjim! replied to WooDzor's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Getting off Duna into orbit doesn't require much dv. My Constellation ascender had room for 6 and only used 4 mini mainsails. What issues did you have with the lander? -

Lovely looking launchers mate. Seems progress is good on this. I will keep an eye on this. Any lander pics yet? -

Ok cool great suggestions! I'm all for this! -
Add Staging Delays
Majorjim! replied to shiznit304's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I like the idea but I can't think of any applications that can't already be used via normal staging. Enlighten me! -
Squad really dont seem to have thought this out properly. If its such a tiny margin, ie a small difference in performance, whats the point??
-
But YOU are flying not the Kerbals. You will improve at docking and other such things. That's the fun of the game, getting better at it.
-
Again this is a seperation of player and playee. We as the players improve our skill over time. Having a flat, for all, set of stats for parts gives a level playing field. This feature will stop people sharing craft in career mode. I really hope this wont effect sandbox.
-
The problem people have with this is its seperating the player from the act of flying. WE as the players improve over time playing KSP. Our ascents get better, our flying, landing skills improve. Why separate the player from the kerbal. The whole idea is that we control the kerbal not the other way round.

Hi all, good thing I have firefighting training!! Anyway, I assume this crazy experience system will only effect career mode right?
-
Thanks man. Originally I wanted to use the Rockomax 48-7S engines for lift as the real SC.1 has four little lift engines. You can just make them out in this pic: So I'm making a much more true to life shape version but due to the small size fuel runs out very quick so its not really usable without infinite fuel. But its much lighter now so the fuel in there gives it a good COM. Its still really fun to fly with infinite fuel. Here are some pics: The solar panel canopy is a WIP I'm not sure if I will use it, but it will look cool! MJ

I'm sure Rune has something to add on this matter. Its unclear what the issue is just from seeing the pic, I cant dl it right now. you can create a fuel line from cubic struts and add fuel lines to the end to reach far away separate tanks. If nobody solves it I will dl it later and have a look.

I finally finished my Short SC.1 replica. Spent many hours on this..!

Hi all, I am very happy to be able to show you my new replica of the Short Brothers SC.1 experimental aircraft. This is one for aviation enthusiasts and therefore most people will not know of it. So I will explain a little about this aircraft. The SC.1 was designed to meet a Ministry of Supply (MoS) request for a vertical take-off research aircraft in 1953. The SC.1 was a single-seat, low wing, tailless delta wing aircraft of approximately 8,000 lb all-up weight. It was the first 'flat rising' jet VTOL to be designed. At the time, the Americans where banking on 'tail sit' aircraft. It was powered by four vertically mounted, lightweight Rolls-Royce RB108 lift engines and one RB.108 cruise engine in the rear to provide thrust for forward flight. The SC.1 was built after the testing of the Rolls Royce thrust measuring rig. I really wanted to make this aircraft after seeing this picture: I thought it would be a nice challenge to keep the scale correct with the thrust measuring rig. After much fiddling and swearing I have managed to create a vtol that both looks like the real one and is a similar scale. The small size of the aircraft caused a lot of COM and COL issues. I have had to add some parts to the nose to balance the craft and keep the COM as central as possible during fuel depletion. I added some reaction wheels too but you can fly it without for an extra challenge. She is a tiny bit heavy in the nose which doesn't cause any issues as she will settle to a slight nose down position at low speed. This caused me no control issues thankfully! Space was getting real tight inside the fuselage. The plane is capable of controlled hover and transition from vertical to horizontal flight and back again. With practice! It is possible to flip the aircraft and generally loose control if you are careless. I reduced the thrust of the lift engine as it will become unstable at high thrust. So keep the speed low when in hover mode. Its just like a sketchy experimental aircraft! Not for novice pilots! Ok here is a short video I made showing the general capabilities of the SC.1. Its my first edited video now that I bought Bandicam, so be nice. The sound seems a little low for some reason. Its OK through headphones though. And some pics. Thank you all for looking and happy flying. DOWNLOAD SC.1 VTOL

Modeling an Ice giant.

I would love to learn how to make KSP planets, that would be too awesome. Can you load this in the game? I wouldn't even know where to start.
