Lift Over Thrust (Best Glider Challenge)
SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Alright, alright, i see the flaw now.New rule: no going straight up. -
Lift Over Thrust (Best Glider Challenge)
SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
You would stall long before you even get close to 0m/s.Going up is not smart, since you get way less lift and lose speed over surface way faster because of the gravity.Your stall speed would be even higher if you went straight up, as i said before, because you have less lift. -
Lift Over Thrust (Best Glider Challenge)
SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
As in you no longer have control over surfaces. You enter in a flat spin, you dive nose/tail first into the ground. The craft above enters in a flat spin at 20-21m/s. -
For this challenge you must build the plane with the lowest stall speed. As an example, the Polikarpov Po-2 had an average speed of 100 km/h (30-35m/s), way lower than most of the planes' stall speed of that era. Rules: This is a mod friendly challenge, personally i recommend Pwings for it.One exception: no Lazor lasers. You must have your Alt+F12 panel open to prove that you are not using Hack Gravity. You are free to use any type of propulsion you want.(Jet, Rocket, Propeller, Ion, etc.) NO VTOL engines. NO helicopter propellers. NO going straight up. You must specify if you have FAR or not. Example: Stalled a few seconds after that at 21m/s Leaderboards: FAR Example: SoldierHair - 22.1m/s (79km/h) 1.dudester28 - 18.5m/s (66km/h) 2.fluffysnowcap - 31.5m/s 3.--------- Non FAR 1.Clockwork_werewolf 2.8m/s 2.Neotician - 3.4m/s (12,24 km/h) 3.Nero_Cor - 6.9m/s

SoldierHair replied to xxjetterxx's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
The best i managed is 20.5G with FAR so far.But i didn't quite used a 'jet engine'. -
I do have a topic on this, if you are interested. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/63509-Fully-Functional-Bipedal-Mech

[SHOWCASE] Most insane Aircraft
SoldierHair replied to Stilgar2300's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Well, i was building Ki-624 (reference image bellow), and rather than shifting the center of mass towards the center of thrust, like i did Blohm und Voss, i wanted to make the center of lift point towards the center of thrust (the closest thing i can thing of is trying to make the center of thrust point at the center of mass when building a shuttle). And everything was going and everything was going fine, the plane was drifting to the side just a little, so i wanted to shorten the distance between the engine and the cockpit and move the engine a bit.But no, the SPH decided it's the perfect time for the assembly bugs to knock on the door! Made this pic.As you can see, there's no name and the buttons are grayed out, sign that you pretty much lost everything you worked on. -
[SHOWCASE] Most insane Aircraft
SoldierHair replied to Stilgar2300's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Made a Blohm und Voss Bv 141 which works fairly well Is fairly fast And fairly agile -
Guess who is 'flying' my Triebflugel 'Dude, please, let's both of us stop trying to justify this whole thing and admit you're in danger!' 'Who are you talking to right now?Who is it you see?Do you know how much i produce per year?I mean, even if i told you about my projects, you wouldn't believe it.Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop going into work?A business with contraptions crazy enough to make even Jebediah jealous goes belly up.Disappears! It ceases to exist without me.No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Bill.I am the danger.A guy tries to test my contraptions and he gets blown to pieces and you think of me?No.I am the one who flies!'

Space kraken thread: Post your kraken encounters here!
SoldierHair replied to InterCity's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I... I think something similar would happen irl if you tried to land in a gas giant. -
Getting ready to dock my SSTO.What i love about it is that you can double as a Shuttle.Remove the jets, tilt the engines a bit and that's it.
-
Haha, i play since this account was made and only yesterday i docked for the first time.I had lots of fun building planes and ground vehicles, but yesterday i was motivated enough to dock. The last thing i docked was an SSTO.Later today i should also dock some habitation modules. And this is how it currently looks like. Not the nicest, but still, it's my first station.

*Clears throat* Sending a probe would be similar...

Fully Functional Bipedal Mech
SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Oh, wow T30 is a bit harsh. My thing has 3 layers of 20mm plates angled at ~45 degrees at most. -
Fully Functional Bipedal Mech
SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Oh, that's not for Sensha-Do.Nonna and I are also part of the Mechanics Enthusiasts club. Why do you think i'm in charge of the KV-2?Because it's big and compensates for my height?Haha, oh, no.That thing requires a lot of maintenance.Once we tried to shoot to the side while climbing a hill.Ha, the gunner was knocked unconscious and the turret ring was almost destroyed. BTW That thing is a whopping 400-something parts, 384 without hands. And i'm surprised i managed to record at 20 FPS. -
Made a Triebflügel. And yes, it IS working as intended. It looks like it's going in reverse, but i'm not showing how it flies.I'm showing that the cupola and the tail are standing still while the wings are spinning. And i made my own Volksjager like Monkthespy. And it's very, very agile. As in over 15G turns. Both of them were made to function in FAR.Never actually tested them in the normal version of the game.

Fully Functional Bipedal Mech
SoldierHair replied to SoldierHair's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
If anybody wants to make their own: If one rotor is going clockwise, the other one should go counter-clockwise. -
Today i build a mech.
-
Made this in a day of work. The thing i like the most about it is the cupola shield. Obviously you need Lazor's Mods and Infernal Robotics to use it.And possibly KW Rocketry too. It's the first mech i ever build, hope you like it! http://dfiles.eu/files/pwbff47pi
